Chapter 741 The Difficult Niece

Ning Zhengkun rubbed his temples wearily, clutching the document in his hand.

Seeing this, Assistant Li, who was standing to the side, cautiously said, "The second young lady was just worried and confused. She's young and inexperienced, and she didn't think that much in a moment. She was just doing it for the good of the company..."

"Concern leads to confusion? I think she's blinded by greed. What does she know about the group?! She's clearly just making things worse!!" Ning Zhengkun slammed his hand on the table, making the teacups on it jump.

He said with a gloomy face, "What else can her mind hold besides romance and luxury handbags?!"

Ning Zhengkun got up irritably and lit a cigar: "I really regret neglecting the second son since he was a child! I always thought Man'an was capable and could support the main branch of the family and the clan, no less than A-Yu, so I let Manfei run wild!"

“Manfei was still young when they divorced, and Manan said she would take good care of her sister and told me not to worry. Who knew that this girl would actually... actually fall in love with Bingan! It’s ridiculous!”

Assistant Li wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and echoed, "Yes...it is somewhat absurd..."

Who would have thought something like this would happen? If this gets out, it'll be a huge scandal!

Back then, the first wife even gave the chairman a sterilization drug, and she was at odds with the young master Bing'an's mother.

Unfortunately, her daughter fell in love with her rival's son.

Ning Zhengkun snorted coldly: "The Ning family's children, even the daughters, have their limits when it comes to freedom! The family provides them with food, clothing, and entertainment, not to support a bunch of good-for-nothings!"

“Each of them must contribute to the strength of the family, otherwise how could the Ning family have lasted for hundreds of years? If they are unwilling to follow the family's arrangements, then they should leave with nothing! Don't just stay at home and wait to die!”

“The chairman is right…” Assistant Li quickly replied.

"However, the second young lady is still young and doesn't think things through. Since the incident has already happened, the most urgent thing is to find a way to remedy it."

Ning Zhengkun said impatiently, "Alright, stop defending her! Go keep an eye on those people from the detective agency and warn them not to say anything out of line!"

Assistant Li sighed, knowing his boss was angry, and nodded, "Don't worry, Chairman. I'll have someone keep an eye on the detective agency and make sure they don't have any more contact with Miss Er."

Ning Zhengkun exhaled a puff of smoke and said sharply, "Go and call Ning Yuan over in a bit. I want to ask her myself what exactly happened!"

Wen Huifang is his sister-in-law, so logically it's not his place as the elder brother to question her.

But Ning Yuan is a junior, so it's different.

Ning Yuan was drinking milk and flipping through a book on maternal and infant care in her room when there was a knock on the door.

"Seventh Miss, the Chairman requests your presence in his study." The maid's voice was respectful yet distant.

Ning Yuan was taken aback, feeling somewhat puzzled.

This uncle of hers has always been indifferent to her, so why did he suddenly remember to call her today? Could it be that Ning Manfei went to complain about her again?

Thinking of this, Ning Yuan couldn't help but sneer. She would deal with whatever came her way; she wasn't afraid of Ning Manfei's little tricks.

"Okay, I'll be right there." Ning Yuan put down the magazine, got up, and followed the maid to Ning Zhengkun's study.

Assistant Li led Ning Yuan into the study. As soon as she entered, she smelled a strong cigar odor, which made her frown slightly.

Ning Yuan instructed the maid beside her to open the window, but the maid did not move.

Ning Yuan simply went to open the window herself and said coldly, "Uncle, what did you call me here for?"

Ning Zhengkun sat behind his large desk, exuding a low-pressure atmosphere, his face so gloomy it could drip water.

Seeing Ning Yuan come in and open the window on her own initiative, he angrily threw the documents on the table with a "thud".

Ning Zhengkun's voice was as cold as ice: "Ning Yuan, you've got some nerve! You actually dared to smuggle cultural relics!!"

Ning Yuan walked to the table with a relaxed demeanor, picked up the documents on the table and flipped through them, her nonchalant manner making it seem as if she were looking at a recipe rather than evidence of a crime.

"This detective is really good. He's meticulous, has a complete chain of evidence, and the photos are high-definition and uncensored. It's a shame he's not working for the ICAC or something similar."

She commented casually, without a trace of panic in her eyes.

“That’s right, I’m involved in smuggling.” Ning Yuan looked at Ning Zhengkun and readily admitted it.

Ning Zhengkun slammed his hand on the table, his face grim.

"You know nothing! How dare a girl from the mainland be so eager for quick success! Do you know how much trouble you'll bring to the Ning family if you're exposed?! Do you want to spend your life in jail doing this kind of dirty business?!"

He paused, then changed the subject: "Or did your sister-in-law ask you to do this?"

She raised her eyes, her gaze icy as she stared directly at Ning Zhengkun, her tone cold and indifferent: "What kind of jail? If I go to jail, then Grandpa, Uncle, and my older brother and sister will all be rotting in jail, won't they?"

Ning Zhengkun's face turned pale and then red from her words. He pointed at Ning Yuan, furious: "How dare you!"

Ning Yuan seemed very well-behaved before, except for the time she made a scene when her husband, who was serving in the military in mainland China, passed away.

He also felt it was understandable, given the other party's special status.

But to his utter surprise, just a few days later, Ning Yuan suddenly revealed her fangs, sharp enough to catch him off guard.

Ning Yuan's big eyes crinkled into a smile, her face radiating innocence, yet every word she uttered was barbed—

"Uncle, please calm down. You have high blood pressure, don't upset yourself. All those things you did with my older brother and sister, weren't they all shady?"

She sighed, "But my business is small-scale and not worth mentioning. Unlike you guys, who deal in hundreds of millions of dollars. That's really exciting."

She paused, her tone becoming even colder: "And why were these things discovered? Isn't it because my second sister, Ning Manfei, wanted to cause trouble for me because of Ning Bing'an? If you really want to settle things peacefully, you should first take care of your own family."

Ning Zhengkun was rendered speechless by her retort. He took a deep breath, trying to suppress his anger, and coldly said—

"Stop giving me that nonsense! Right now, immediately, replace all the smuggled auction items!"

"Change it off?" Ning Yuan raised an eyebrow.

She laughed: "Then what about the spring auction? I signed a contract, who will pay the penalty for breach of contract? Do you think I'm young and easy to bully? Or do you think I'm just a mainland girl who doesn't understand the rules of the Hong Kong government?"

Ning Zhengkun's temples throbbed: "Watch your manners! Just go and remove the items from the auction, and prepare to redo the relevant auction materials."

He paused, then said with a long face, "I will have someone prepare other items for the auction."

"That won't do." Ning Yuan coldly refused.

"Uncle, this won't do. This batch of goods isn't just mine, it also belongs to Gui Laosi. He's waiting to ship the goods and collect the money, how could I dare to delay his business?"

She paused, then gave Ning Zhengkun a sly smile: "Unless... Uncle, you take all of this batch of goods worth hundreds of millions for yourself, then Gui Lao Si will have nothing to say!"

Ning Zhengkun was so angry he almost fainted: "Hundreds of millions?! You're asking for the moon!"

Ning Yuan shrugged, looking innocent: "There's nothing I can do, that's the market price. As you know, the profit margin in the antique business is always very high."

"Besides, Uncle, you must know what kind of person that old man, Gui Lao Si, is, right? If you really want him to let it go, why not use your connections in the gang?"

“You…” Ning Zhengkun’s face grew increasingly grim. Ning Yuan was even more difficult to deal with than he had imagined!
