Chapter 800 Senior Superintendent

Ning Bing'an frowned slightly and calmly instructed his secretary, "Bring the police and customs officers to the office. Don't let them stay at the front desk and attract reporters!"

Then he turned to Ning Yuan and said, "Little sister, you should leave Regent and go home."

Ning Yuan stood still, her tone calm: "The police have already found Lijing, which means they've got their eyes on me. There's no point in hiding."

Ning Bing'an sighed and gently patted her shoulder: "Little sister, you haven't been back to Hong Kong for long, and you don't know the rules here yet. People from the Ning family can't be questioned by the police in Hong Kong."

Ning Yuan frowned: "Why?"

Ning Bing'an said calmly, "The Ning family isn't bigger than the police, but any slight disturbance can affect the stock price and the stability of the group. It's a case of 'a single move affects the whole body,' and can even impact the Hong Kong government's stock market."

"Therefore, unless someone is caught red-handed committing murder, members of the Ning family must go through the proper procedures when being questioned by the police. In the Anglo-American legal system, this is considered legally permissible."

Ning Yuan was taken aback and frowned: "I really haven't thought about that much."

She hasn't encountered this kind of situation before, so she genuinely doesn't understand the ins and outs.

Ning Bing'an: "It's not too late to start thinking about it now. I'll shield you from the police."

He glanced at his secretary, who immediately understood and walked to Ning Yuan's side: "Miss Seven, please come with me. I will take you out of Regent through the staff entrance."

Ning Yuan followed the secretary to the employee entrance, then turned to Ning Bing'an and said, "Thank you for the guidance, Brother Bing'an."

Ning Bing'an wiped the butter knife and smiled faintly: "If you're really grateful to me, little sister, why don't you be my date at tonight's dinner party?"

Ning Yuan raised an eyebrow: "Isn't it inappropriate for me to attend a public event right now?"

Ning Bing'an said, "The Li family's banquet is for internal use only, not for the public. There are no media reporters or outsiders, so it's fine."

Ning Yuan thought for a moment and said, "Okay."

She then followed Ning Yuan out through the kitchen staff exit.

After Ning Yuan's figure disappeared from sight, Ning Bing'an slowly took off his gloves, changed out of his flour-stained apron, put on a black fitted Zhongshan suit, and went to the office with his entourage.

In the office, the Hong Kong government's Organized Crime and Triad Bureau (OCTB) and Customs officials were somewhat dissatisfied that they hadn't seen Ning Yuan after Ning Bing'an came out.

“Mr. Ning, we have a major case involving a gang fight, and there are clues that implicate Miss Ning Qi. We need to talk to her.”

"It was said by a tall, stern-faced O-Division inspector."

Ning Bing'an smiled slightly and said in a gentle tone, "Officer, I think you may have some misunderstandings. Our Ning family has always been law-abiding. My younger sister has just returned to Hong Kong and is not yet familiar with many things. If there is any misunderstanding, our Ning family will fully cooperate with the police investigation."

"However, in the absence of a formal arrest warrant, I hope the police will respect my sister's personal rights. If you have any questions, you can contact our Ning family's public relations department, and we will arrange for a dedicated legal team to work with you."

Several officers from the Organized Crime and Triad Bureau and customs exchanged bewildered glances, clearly not expecting Ning Bing'an to be so assertive.

Although they were unwilling, they understood the power of the Ning family and dared not offend them easily.

In the end, they could only leave dejectedly, not forgetting to throw out a harsh threat before departing: "Mr. Ning, we will come again!"

Ning Bing'an watched their departing figures, his eyes cold and dark.

He returned to his office and made a phone call: "Fourth Uncle, the police have started investigating Ning Yuan, what do you think..."

An old and hoarse voice came from the other end of the phone: "I know, some bastards are trying to take advantage of my old age... to mess with my stuff."

"Hmph... I'll handle this. You just need to have that brat keep an eye on our goods. It's thanks to her Ning family background that those cops don't dare to make a move."

Ning Bing'an said, "Understood, Fourth Uncle."

Perhaps because something bad had happened, Fourth Uncle said impatiently, "It's been a year already. Please be more proactive in pursuing girls. If you want Ning Yuan to marry you, why are you acting like a half-dead, sickly chicken!"

Ning Bing'an paused for a moment, recalling how Ning Yuan had remained unmoved in his arms just moments before.

It's unclear whether she was too perceptive to notice something or simply too insensitive.

He sighed softly, "Fourth Uncle, that's just my personality, you know that."

"I know you, you old hag! If you can't do it, then just force it! Let a widow have a child, do you even know how? Don't you remember what we agreed on, you good-for-nothing! I refuse to believe I can't get my hands on that Ning family girl!"

Uncle Four slammed down the phone in annoyance.

Ning Bing'an stared at the phone expressionlessly for a long time, then chuckled lightly: "If the Ning family's daughter... could be obtained simply by sleeping with her, why would I need to go through all this trouble?"

………………

Police Headquarters, Police Administration Building, Arsenal Street, Wan Chai; Office of the Organized Crime and Triad Bureau (OCTB).

Several disheveled O-Division detectives stood dejectedly in front of the desk, with the senior inspector in the lead reporting with a displeased expression: "Sir, I'm sorry, we didn't bring the person back."

“We were keeping a close eye on that woman when she went to the Regent Hotel, but she had too many bodyguards with her before, so we couldn’t get close at all!” Another agent said with a hint of resentment.

A tall man stood in front of the full-length mirror in his office, slowly and methodically tying his tie.

Wearing a custom-made black senior superintendent uniform with a cinched waist, he appeared broad-shouldered and slender-waisted, exuding an aloof and unparalleled handsomeness.

Upon hearing the report, he merely raised an eyebrow: "That's normal. As for the Ning family's background, unless the Commissioner of Police (a colloquial term for the highest-ranking operational commander in Hong Kong) intervenes, or you can obtain concrete evidence of crimes committed by the Ning family, you can't touch her in the slightest without solid evidence."

"So what do we do now, Sir? Those rich people's legal teams and public relations departments are really difficult to deal with!" the inspector asked, frowning.

The man put on his police cap, revealing a pair of narrow, sinister phoenix eyes: "I heard the Li family is having a party with the embassy tonight, and the police department needs a few invitations. That's perfect."

...

As night falls, the lights of Victoria Harbour shimmer like scattered diamonds, casting a mesmerizing glow.

Inside the Li family's hillside mansion, a crystal-clear champagne tower stands as celebrities and political figures gather.

People dressed smartly chatted and laughed, and a rich fragrance filled the air.

Ning Yuan wore a black velvet dress with a long train. Even though she still has a baby face, her temperament has matured and she has become more elegant and charming.

Bulgari's grandmother necklace shone brightly on her fair neck, perfectly complementing her radiant makeup.

She took Ning Bing'an's arm and gracefully entered the banquet hall.

Ning Bing'an was dressed in a white Zhongshan suit tonight, which made him look even more refined and elegant, especially given his handsome features.

"Thank you for giving me this face, little sister." Ning Bing'an looked down at Ning Yuan, his tone gentle.

Ning Yuan returned a polite smile, but her gaze subtly swept over the surroundings: "It's only right."

For some reason, she always felt... that someone was watching her.
