Chapter 821 A mother-in-law who's too nagging doesn't act like a man

Aheng rolled her eyes at him, clutching her wound and hissing in pain. "What's the point of saying all this? Instead of analyzing the trajectory here, why don't you think about how to escape? Or, you can carry me away?" She raised an eyebrow, her tone laced with provocation.

"Would it kill you to shut up a few more sarcastic remarks?!" Wei Heng's temples bulged with veins; this woman was really infuriating him! "Mind your own business! Do you need me to take a bullet for you?"

"Meddling in other people's business? If I hadn't intervened, you would be dead right here! What, are you trying to repay kindness with enmity?" Aheng sneered, retorting without backing down.

"You..." Wei Heng was speechless with anger, yet unable to refute it. He took a deep breath, trying to suppress his rage. "Now is not the time to argue. Let's find a way to leave here first."

The two cautiously peeked out, observing the activity outside the alley. The men in black seemed to have vanished, but an eerie silence hung in the air, making them uneasy.

Ah Heng noticed with her sharp eyes that several vendors on the street corner seemed to be exchanging glances casually, and one of them was even whispering something into a walkie-talkie. "Damn, they haven't left, they've set up a surveillance area around here!" she muttered, her expression turning serious.

Wei Heng didn't speak, but his expression grew even more grim. He knew in his heart that these people had come prepared, and their target was very likely him. He grabbed Aheng's arm and said, "Come with me."

Wei Heng led A Heng through the narrow alleyways, weaving and twisting like two nimble cats, constantly scaling walls and leaping across lanes, trying to shake off their pursuers. Although injured, A Heng was still agile, keeping close behind Wei Heng without any hesitation.

After a frantic run, Wei Heng led A Heng to a secluded safe house. It was an inconspicuous two-story building, hidden among a cluster of messy houses; it would be difficult for anyone unfamiliar with the area to spot it.

Finally, at the back door of an inconspicuous house, Wei Heng stopped, took out a key, and opened the door.

"A safe house?" Ah Heng recognized the layout at a glance and immediately breathed a sigh of relief, his tense nerves relaxing.

Almost at the same time, her body gave out, her vision went black, and she collapsed limply to the ground.

Wei Heng caught her quickly and carried her into the house, placing her on the simple bed.

Ah Heng's face was ashen, her breathing weak, and the bloodstains on her body were shocking. Wei Heng roughly tore open the clothes on her back to check the wound. The bullet was lodged near her shoulder blade, and the situation was not optimistic.

Wei Heng's face was terribly gloomy. He rummaged through the first-aid kit and took out alcohol and gauze.

Ah Heng's face was as pale as paper, her breathing was weak, and the bloodstains on her body were shocking. Wei Heng tore open the clothes on her back to check the wounds.

The bullet pierced the shoulder blade and exited from the front; the situation was dire.

"Damn it!" Wei Heng cursed under his breath, then bent down and listened with his stethoscope—

Fortunately, the pistol's caliber wasn't large, and Ah Heng was breathing smoothly without any hissing or bellows-like sounds, so it didn't seem like his lungs were injured.

He breathed a sigh of relief, deftly pulled out the first-aid kit, and treated Aheng's wounds.

Disinfection, hemostasis, and medication were all performed smoothly and efficiently.

He was seriously injured while defusing a bomb and spent nearly a year in the hospital.

During that period of time, he was bored, so he assisted the military doctor and learned a lot about treating external injuries.

However, when it came to the chest area, Wei Heng hesitated—

The bullet pierced through his back and into his chest; he had to tear his clothes to treat the wound, but...

Ah Heng felt something moving on his body and woke up groggily. When he opened his eyes, he saw Wei Heng's constipated expression and immediately understood his concerns.

She snapped at him impatiently, "What are you dawdling for? If you're going to kill me, just do it quickly!"

Wei Heng froze, then quickly explained, "Your chest wound also needs to be treated..."

"Then hurry up!" Ah Heng interrupted him impatiently, reaching for his clothes.

Wei Heng hurriedly stopped her, afraid of touching her wound: "Wait a minute..."

The two struggled for a moment, but Wei Heng dared not use too much force, for fear of hurting her.

Ah Heng was in pain and irritated. She glanced at him with disdain and said, "Stop being so fussy. Why are you still worrying about the proper distance between men and women at a time like this? It's not like we haven't seen it before. Do you want me to die even faster?"

As she spoke, she ripped her clothes open, exposing her entire upper body to Wei Heng.

Wei Heng gasped, his face instantly turning bright red.

He had never seen a girl's body before, especially one as open and exposed as Ah Heng's...

That time, he was completely out of his mind.

He hurriedly looked away, his heart pounding like a drum.

My mind went blank, filled only with images of Ah Heng's fair skin and undulating curves...

Ah Heng rolled his eyes. If he weren't so weak, he would have really wanted to kick him.

"What time is it? Stop pretending to be an innocent virgin! Hurry up, it hurts so much!"

She gasped in pain, but her tone remained firm.

Wei Heng coughed awkwardly, trying to concentrate: "Could you please say less? It's affecting my performance!"

He began tending to her chest wound with a curt air, trying his best not to look at places he shouldn't be looking at.

"Hiss..." Ah Heng gasped in pain, but gritted his teeth and didn't make a sound.

Wei Heng paused, looking at her with a complicated expression: "Bear with it, it'll be over soon."

His voice became low and gentle, carrying a comforting tone.

This woman always acts tough and has a rebellious air about her.

He carefully bandaged Aheng's wound.

Ah Heng's face was still pale, but his breathing had become much more steady.

"Alright, how are you feeling? You might have a fever tonight, so you need to take some anti-inflammatory medicine." Wei Heng breathed a sigh of relief and pulled Ah Heng's shirt up to cover her body.

Ah Heng slowly opened his eyes, looked at Wei Heng, and a complex emotion flashed in his eyes: "Alright, you won't die."

She forced a weak smile.

Wei Heng didn't speak, but just looked at her quietly. He suddenly realized that although this woman had a sharp tongue and a tomboyish personality, she had saved him before, and this was the second time.

An eerie silence suddenly fell between the two, and an unsettling atmosphere filled the air.

...

Wei Heng turned around and said in a low voice, "You should rest well. I'll go get you something to eat. It's best to eat something before taking your anti-inflammatory medicine. The medicines from the Hong Kong government are all imported and very effective."

After saying that, he turned and left the room, leaving Ah Heng alone on the bed.

Ah Heng watched his retreating figure with a complex expression, then began to drift into a reverie.

That guy's blushing and flustered look was actually kind of cute...

And he's even a surgeon...and so professional... Hmm, if you get injured on a mission, having a partner like him should increase your chances of survival, right?

Should we get our hands on it?

Wei Heng busied himself in the kitchen for a while, then came in carrying a steaming bowl of noodles.

"Have something to eat." He placed the noodles on the bedside table.
