Chapter 846 Threat

After seeing Chen Jingsong and his group off, Ning Zhengkun immediately convened an emergency meeting in his study's conference room.

Ning Bingyu spoke first as soon as he entered the room: "I oppose BMF Bank injecting capital!"

His tone was crisp and decisive: "With HK$1.5 billion coming in all at once, our shareholding will be diluted in no time. At that point, the Ning family will no longer have control over Whampoa Garden!"

Ning Man'an sat down gracefully and gestured for the maid to bring in coffee: "Chen Jingsong's proposal this time was indeed sudden, but Ayu, don't be too hasty. 1.5 billion in funds is hard power. We can't possibly not even consider the slightest opportunity. Don't forget that a lot of our funds are also borrowed from banks."

In the real estate business, everyone borrows money from banks to make money; they all use their own funds.

Ning Bingyu lightly adjusted his glasses on the bridge of his nose, his eyes deep and unfathomable: "Would Chen Jingsong really be so generous as to give away money for free? He acted first and informed the Japanese bank later; who knows what other schemes he might have up his sleeve!"

Ning Man'an said calmly, "Ayu, you're too nervous. Relax~ Nobody said we have to vote right now, we're just having a discussion!"

Listening to his daughter and nephew's argument, Ning Zhengkun frowned, his gaze inadvertently falling on Ning Yuan.

She sat upright, her expression focused—she looked like she was looking for gossip!

Hey, tell me quickly, what's going on? Let me hear it!

Ning Zhengkun: "..."

He pursed his lips slightly, somewhat displeased, but considering the current situation, he ultimately did not mention Ning Yuan's name.

Ning Zhengkun turned his gaze back to his eldest daughter and nephew, and slowly said, "First, we need to confirm whether BMF Bank really has this plan, and then we need to see when Chen Jingsong started contacting BMF Bank."

Ning Zhengkun picked up his pipe, skillfully filled it with tobacco, and casually instructed, "You should understand how many shares the other party wants, what Chen Jingsong's purpose is, and how he plans to operate."

Ning Man'an took a sip of Pu'er tea and said calmly, "Daddy, the area where Huangpu Garden is being developed was originally Huangpu Wharf. We didn't have such big ambitions at first. The few companies that could cooperate with us at that time all had very strong British backgrounds. It was only after Chen Jingsong joined forces that we were able to secure the development rights for the entire Huangpu Wharf. We couldn't ignore his opinion."

Just as Ning Bingyu was about to retort, there was a knock on the door.

Butler Lao Tian's voice rang out from outside the door: "Master, Miss Cha is back again. She says she wants to see you alone."

The atmosphere in the study instantly became subtle.

Did Cha Meiling turn back?

The group exchanged glances. Ning Zhengkun raised an eyebrow and exhaled a puff of smoke: "Let her in."

Cha Meiling walked gracefully into the study, a gentle and polite smile on her face: "Uncle, I'm sorry to bother you again."

She greeted him softly, but her smile froze for a moment when she saw who was in the study.

Ning Bingyu, Ning Man'an, Ning Bing'an, and even Ning Yuan were there!

Her gaze lingered on Ning Yuan for a moment, a barely perceptible shadow of gloom flashing in her eyes.

She then returned to normal and smiled elegantly: "It's even better now that all my brothers and sisters are here."

Ning Zhengkun looked at her, his eyes deep and unfathomable. "Annie, is there anything else?"

Cha Meiling walked to Ning Zhengkun's side, put down her handbag, and said gently, "Uncle Ning, I have some inside information I want to tell you."

Ning Zhengkun narrowed his eyes upon hearing this, took a deep drag on his pipe, and looked at Ning Bingyu: "Ayu?"

Ning Bingyu's expression remained unchanged, his tone indifferent and calm: "What does Miss Annie want to say?"

Cha Meiling seemed oblivious to the coldness in Ning Bingyu's tone, and smiled slightly—

“My godfather, Chan Kingsong, is determined to bring in Japanese bank funding and make Whampoa Garden the Hong Kong government’s largest flagship project.”

"He was determined to make this project a premier residential and commercial landmark for the Hong Kong government."

Ning Zhengkun narrowed his eyes, his tone scrutinizing: "Annie, when did Chairman Chen ask you to contact those banks?"

Cha Meiling seemed somewhat embarrassed, and after a moment of silence, she spoke softly—

"After learning that Huangpu Port was going to be sold and the Ning family wanted to buy it, my godfather contacted Sister Man-an while asking me to find a way to bring in more funds in Singapore."

As she spoke, she glanced at Ning Man'an as if by accident.

Ning Man'an put down her teacup, her calm tone tinged with coldness: "So, you've had your eye on this project from the very beginning?"

Cha Meiling sighed, looking helpless: "Uncle Ning, Sister Man'an, don't put it so harshly. If we weren't interested in this project, why would we be cooperating with the Ning family?"

She paused for a moment: "My godfather has always been aggressive in his actions and has a very accurate vision. Otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to take the Jialing Group public in just two or three years. He... is a very ambitious person."

Ning Bingyu leaned back in his chair, his gaze deep and somber: "Chairman Chen is so ambitious, why does he insist on expanding this project to two hundred buildings, and why does he want to combine a hospital, a school, and office buildings all together? This project was originally just a simple residential project!"

Ning Yuan, who had been sitting quietly to the side, suddenly spoke up out of the blue: "Is this considered... a mixed-use development plan?"

This sudden problem brought a brief silence to the study.

Ning Yuan then realized that mixed-use residential and commercial buildings were not popular at the time, and probably no one knew what this meant.

She then coughed lightly and said, "Sorry, I was just saying. I don't know much about the Hong Kong government's property development."

A hint of disdain flashed in Cha Meiling's eyes, but she quickly concealed it and said calmly, "Then little sister, you should let me finish first. It's not appropriate to interrupt."

Ning Yuan was too lazy to argue with her; she was just a stray dog.

I just don't know why Cha Meiling seems so much more hostile towards her now that she's back. Is it because of Rong Zhaonan's arrest of her back then?

Ning Bingyu, however, looked at Ning Yuan, his eyes flickering thoughtfully...

A mixed-use commercial and residential property, that's interesting!

Cha Mei-ling continued, “Most of the buildings in Whampoa Garden are public housing estates. This project was originally intended by the Hong Kong government to alleviate housing pressure. Only if it is made very large and successful can my godfather acquire other plots of land to continue developing public housing estate projects. Therefore, other corresponding commercial facilities must be available, and the office buildings should be of medium quality, but they are a must.”

Ning Man'an smiled enigmatically: "Does your godfather think that the Ning family is clearly unwilling to put up so much capital, so he plans to bring in new partners?"

Cha Mei-ling nodded, her tone certain: "That's right, this is my godfather's goal. He has already obtained information from his channels about the auction of other plots of land in Hong Kong. So he is determined to make Whampoa Garden a project that no one can surpass in the short term, thereby increasing his competitiveness."
