Chapter 900 Summons Failed

...

When Chen Jingsong returned to his office, several close associates surrounded him.

The CFO tentatively asked, "Mr. Chen, should we proceed now? The money has already been deposited into the account. We've been planning this for so long; I'm confident that with the double-checking mechanism, we can get the money out..."

Chen Jingsong leaned back lazily in his leather chair and chuckled, "Heh, what's the rush? Ning Man'an isn't someone to be trifled with; she hasn't completely fallen for it yet."

A sly glint flashed in his eyes: "She's definitely keeping a close eye on the account now, just waiting for us to make our move. Once we transfer the money, she'll immediately notice, and then we won't be able to transfer all the funds away."

The executive frowned with some concern: "When are we going to get to this point? The Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC), the Organized Crime and Triad Bureau (OCTB), and even the Commercial Crime Bureau have all started targeting us."

The boss has connections in the police force, but it's difficult for the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) to intervene.

Chen Jingsong took a deep drag on his pipe and said nonchalantly, "Be patient, my men will handle it. My goal is not just to run away with the money."

"The loss of the Ning family's liquid assets only weakens their vitality. With so many properties and a solid foundation around the world, and having previously swallowed up the Cha family's assets, this one move alone cannot damage their core."

He exhaled a puff of smoke, his eyes turning deep and sinister: "What I want is to completely bring down the Ning family, uproot them, and make them the main source of our losses in the Hong Kong government's prime assets. Just like slaughtering a pig, you have to stab its arteries to bleed it out; that takes skill and patience."

Just then, the telephone on the desk suddenly rang sharply.

Chen Jingsong answered the phone impatiently, and his lawyer Zhang Baoshu's flustered voice came through the receiver—

"Mr. Chen, help! I just got back from vacation in England, and the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) spotted me as soon as I got off the plane! They said they're going to investigate me, and I'm so scared I came to find you right away!"

"Then I was cornered by the Organized Crime and Triad Bureau (OCTB) in the parking lot! I'm hiding in the parking lot security room now, and they're banging on the door outside! Mr. Chen, you have to help me!"

Chen Jingsong's face instantly darkened, and he threw down his pipe: "Don't panic, stay there and don't move, I'll be right down."

Damn it, what's wrong with that bastard Zhou Yan? He took 500,000 from me! And he actually sent people to arrest his men?!

He turned to the executives and finance department and said, "Don't touch the money in the account yet, wait for my message."

After saying that, he left the office aggressively with several bodyguards.

...

Outside the parking lot security guard's room.

Bao C was kicking the door impatiently: "Zhang Baoshu! Stop hiding! Get out here right now! If you don't come out, I'll have someone tear the door down! This is obstructing official business!"

His face, which was already unpleasant on ordinary days, looked even more sour at this moment.

Inside the security room, a man in an Armani suit huddled in a corner, trembling, his face pale and covered in cold sweat. He was Zhang Baoshu, Chen Jingsong's lawyer.

He kept shaking his head at the two security guards, signaling them not to open the door.

The two security guards also looked troubled, caught in the middle, torn between two options. They were eating Jialin's food, but those guys outside were police officers!

The tall, imposing Ah K stood to the side, his face dark, and said:

“Attorney Zhang, we’re just summoning you for questioning. You’re a British lawyer, what are you afraid of if you haven’t committed a crime? Don’t waste our time, it’s bad for everyone.”

But there was no movement from inside the door.

Enraged, C pulled out his gun and pointed it at the door lock: "You bastard, if you don't come out, don't blame me for smashing the lock!"

Seeing C's actions, A-K whispered a word of advice: "C, be careful. Don't make a big deal out of this. This lawyer is British. If something really happens, it will be hard to explain."

Bao C spat and cursed, "What's there to be afraid of! I've worked for the Organized Crime and Triad Bureau for so many years, do you think I'm afraid of some foreign lawyer? If he really had nothing to hide, why would he be hiding? I think he's the one with a guilty conscience!"

As he spoke, he gestured for his men to step back, indicating that he was going to unlock the door!

"Why is this O-Division detective so angry? The O-Division is just summoning someone, it's like an arrest. Anyone who doesn't know better would think the Hong Kong government is going to declare martial law, making such a big fuss!"

At this moment, Chen Jingsong appeared in a grand procession with a large group of people, still sporting his usual smiling expression.

Bao C stared at him and sneered, "Chairman Chen, you've arrived quickly."

Chen Jingsong walked up to Bao C and asked casually, "Since it's not an arrest, just a summons, do you have a summons?"

C chuckled coldly and spat, "Heh, I knew you guys would cause trouble. K, bring out the summons."

The burly Ah K expressionlessly took out the summons and handed it to Chen Jingsong: "Look carefully!"

Chen Jingsong took the summons and glanced at it casually—

"The summons is fine, but my poor lawyer just had a heart attack. You can't just take a sick person away by force, can you? You can come back after he's recovered at the hospital."

A-K and his friends hadn't reacted yet.

Bao C's face darkened, and he stared coldly at Chen Jingsong: "How did you know the lawyer had a breakdown?"

Chen Jingsong gave a mocking sneer and turned to his subordinate standing at the door of the security room: "Tell the security guards to open the door."

His men immediately went up and knocked on the door.

Upon hearing his superior's voice, the security guard immediately opened the door.

Agents C and A-K rushed in, only to be stunned by what they saw—

Zhang Baoshu collapsed to the ground, foaming at the mouth, his face turning blue, and his body convulsing uncontrollably.

A-K stared in horror, his eyes wide: "Why?! We saw this lawyer perfectly fine just ten minutes ago, how could he suddenly..."

With his obese hands in his pockets, Chen Jingsong slowly interrupted the conversation: "The ambulance will be here soon. This is my lawyer, not a criminal. Officers, shouldn't saving lives be the priority? I've always believed that the duty of the police is to protect the personal safety of Hong Kong citizens, not to persecute innocent citizens."

No sooner had he finished speaking than the siren of an ambulance approached from afar.

Ah K turned his head and, sure enough, saw the ambulance approaching with its lights flashing.

Chen Jingsong's men immediately carried the "dying" Zhang Baoshu onto the ambulance and drove away.

The few people who were exposed could only watch helplessly as the ambulance doors closed and disappeared into the night with a wail.

Chen Jingsong straightened his suit collar, his gaze sweeping over the officers before settling on Bao C's face with a mocking expression—

"I hope you will not act so rashly in the future. If anything happens to anyone... I will sue you for abusing your power."

After saying that, he turned and left with his men, his figure standing out flamboyantly in the night.

A-K was so angry his face turned green: "We just let him go like that! Chen Jingsong's appearance was too timely, and the timing of Zhang Baoshu's heart attack was too coincidental! We clearly found that Zhang Baoshu had a batch of documents that could prove Chen Jingsong forged loan qualifications!"
