Lin Shanshan asked curiously, "Why did Gu Yong chase after Zhu Xiaoyu back then?"
Liu Jianshe replied, "Our militia company interrogated him. He said he was dating Fang Zhiqing and only acted when he saw that Zhu Xiaoyu wanted to abuse Fang Zhiqing."
Lin Shanshan recalled that Fang Duoduo hadn't returned to the educated youth settlement for days; it turned out she had gone to date Gu Yong.
Liu Jianshe said, "If Fang Zhiqing testifies that Zhu Xiaoyu really forced her, then Gu Yong should be given a lighter sentence."
Lin Shanshan said, "Fang Duoduo definitely won't testify. After all, educated youth need Secretary Zhu's approval to return to the city for leave, and they need to return to the city for the New Year. She definitely won't offend Secretary Zhu."

Liu Jianshe drank, ate a bite of food, poured himself another drink, raised his glass to Gu Yiye and said, "This glass is to wish you and Lin Zhiqing a long and happy marriage. Cheers!"
Lin Shanshan raised her glass, using tea instead of wine, and said, "Thank you, Director Liu."
The meal was a pleasant one for both host and guests. After eating and drinking to their hearts' content, Liu Jianshe strolled home.
Gu Yiye and Lin Shanshan rested for a while before going to clear the land.
Because of yesterday's mobilization, when the two arrived today, the militia brothers were already there, most of them with their families. They started working enthusiastically even before Gu Yiye arrived.
