Chapter 1 Rebirth, Falsely Accused and Defiled
"I never expected that you would be the one to see me off on my final journey." Liu Nian lay on the hospital bed, looking at the man standing at the door.
His name was Su Xu, her brother-in-law. He was wearing a well-tailored suit, and even the dean stood respectfully behind him. Clearly, he was more successful than before.
He stood helplessly in front of Liu Nian, his teeth clenched, his tense muscles trembling. He walked over in disbelief and knelt down in front of Liu Nian.
"Liu Nian, do you know I've been looking for you?" He looked up, his eyes already red.
"Looking for me? What do you want?" Liu Nian's withered eyes moved, and he gave a somewhat bitter smile.
She was hopelessly in love with her husband, Su Hang, her entire life. Little did she know, he had never loved her, nor had he ever even touched her. He married her merely to exploit her family's resources. After the marriage, her mother-in-law made things difficult for her, and he brazenly brought his mistress home. She endured it all, but in the end, her parents were imprisoned, and her brother and sister-in-law died tragically—all because of him!
Liu Nian had considered revenge, but she was powerless to do so because she was already in the late stages of cancer. The torment of the disease had robbed her of any will to live, so Liu Nian simply hid away somewhere to wait for death.
However, she never expected that her brother-in-law would keep looking for her.
Su Xu stared intently at Liu Nian, the person he cherished most in his heart for his entire life, whom he had protected his whole life, yet he dared not utter these feelings aloud.
Liu Nian stared into her eyes and felt that his gaze was terrifyingly intense, so she quickly looked away.
"I'm going to die, so don't come here again."
Su Xu stared at her obsessively, "You won't die, you won't!"
He stood up, his gloomy eyes fixed on the people behind him. "I don't care what methods you use! I want her alive! Do you hear me?"
These people were terrified and knew that there was nothing they could do to change Liu Nian's situation.
Liu Nian turned her back to Su Xu, tears streaming down her face. She was in so much pain, as if she were being slowly sliced apart by a sharp knife, the blade scraping her flesh inch by inch.
Living was torture for her, and it was Su Xu who brought her some comfort in the last moments of her life.
She was now dirty and smelly, and even the caregiver was disgusted and didn't want to get close to her. Only Su Xu was willing to stay by her side.
He patiently coaxed her, took care of her, and stayed by her side every step of the way.
But in the end, she closed her eyes, and thankfully, she died in his arms.
Liu Nian's soul floated in mid-air, watching Su Xu holding her corpse like a walking dead.
"Niannian, do you know? Ever since I saw you when I was sixteen, I vowed to love you for the rest of my life. By some twist of fate, you ended up becoming my sister-in-law, but it's okay."
Su Xu's face was weathered, but a strange smile appeared on his face at this moment. "We will be together soon. You will not be alone on the road to the Yellow Springs."
What was he trying to do? Liu Nian tried to scream, but no sound came out. She watched helplessly as Su Xu carried her body into the sea until the water submerged their heads.
Liu Nian's soul floated in mid-air. She wanted to tell Su Xu not to be so foolish, not to die for her, but no matter how much she shouted, he just couldn't hear her.
This man was willing to die for her; Liu Nian was not only moved, but also deeply shocked.
"Su Xu, if only I had married you back then. Sigh..."
A sigh speaks volumes about a lifetime of helplessness.
Then Liu Nian felt as if she had fallen into a black hole, and the dizziness brought on by the spinning of the world was very uncomfortable.
