Chapter 108 Everyone's Watching the Show (1/2)

Chapter 108 Everyone's watching the joke.

"We'll see about that!" Liu Nian smiled slightly, completely unconcerned about the sarcasm and ridicule from the other teams.

Li Dapeng gripped a towel and vigorously wiped his face, saying, "Comrades, let's give it our all! So what if they outnumber us? I don't believe it!" With that, he turned to plunge into the cornfield.

Su Xu quickly pulled him back and said to the other team members, "It's hot today, so let's take a break and talk about it tomorrow."

"What?!" Li Dapeng immediately became anxious and shoved Su Xu aside, saying, "Captain, what are you saying? Even if we work our hardest, we might not be able to catch up with them. If we rest for another day, we'll be completely left behind!"

"Sister-in-law, aren't you going to do anything about our captain?!" Li Dapeng complained to Liu Nian in a fit of anger.

The other team members weren't as familiar with Su Xu, so they could only glance at him warily before looking at Liu Nian, pleading, "Sister-in-law, please say something!"

Seeing their angry but speechless expressions, Liu Nian laughed out loud, stood next to Su Xu and said, "Don't worry, your captain must have his reasons for letting you rest, and I guarantee we will definitely win."

Although they considered Liu Nian and Su Xu to be extremely capable individuals, the reality before them was truly unbelievable.

Captain Li exclaimed "Ouch!" and walked over carrying a corncob, not forgetting to kick us while we were down, "Are you guys planning to give up completely? Does that mean our victory this time is a foregone conclusion?"

"Whoever loses this time has to buy drinks!" Captain Liu patted Su Xu's shoulder with a smile. "You drank quite a bit of good wine from me last time."

Clearly, Captain Li was prepared for victory. He wasn't a bad person, but he loved to compete in everything. Su Xu knew his character and was happy to challenge him.

Su Xu coldly slapped his hand away and said, "You'll be disappointed again this time."

"Listen to that tone!" Captain Li pointed at Su Xu and curled his lip. "This is outrageous!"

Su Xu helped Liu Nian walk outside, then turned and said quietly, "It's hot, so my team members will rest. You guys continue, continue!"

"I'll be having mung bean soup at home later!" Liu Nian raised her voice, deliberately making sure the other teams could hear.

Their team members not only get to rest, but also have mung bean soup to drink.

Li Dapeng and several others quickly thanked his sister-in-law, but they all still looked worried.

We can't even catch up with them, and you want to go back to rest? You still think you can win? No way.

"Go back? Are you trying to throw everything away?"

"Let's go back! Let's go back! Oh my, the championship will be ours in a minute!"

"You, Su Xu, have always been so competitive, but I never expected you to admit defeat! Hahaha!"

The other teams all assumed that Su Xu's actions were tantamount to giving up. Amid boos and jeers, Su Xu helped Liu Nian and led his team out of the assigned field.

"Don't rush, everyone. Your team leader told you to rest today so you can participate in the work better tomorrow." Liu Nian walked slowly, and the group of people, not in a hurry anyway, followed behind him in a leisurely manner.

Li Dapeng sighed and glanced cautiously at Su Xu. "Sister-in-law, don't try to comfort us. If we can't get first place this year, we'll try next year."

"What are you thinking about?" Su Xu gave him a cool look and said, "We're definitely going to be number one again this year."

"I'll tell you a secret." Su Xu glanced around; they were now far from their assigned fields, and there was hardly anyone around. He lowered his voice and said, "Your sister-in-law can borrow a harvester!"

"What!"

"Oh my god!"

The group immediately cheered, and Li Dapeng grinned, "Your wife is amazing! She knows so many people!"

"Shh..." Liu Nian put her finger to her lips in a hushed gesture, her eyes full of a sly smile, "Let's keep a low profile and be quiet, so we can catch them off guard!"

"Yes, keep a low profile! Keep a low profile!" The group immediately lowered their voices, but they still couldn't contain their excitement, and they practically skipped as they walked.

The cheers that had just erupted suddenly were heard even by the villagers working in their assigned fields.

"What's there to be so happy about?" someone chuckled. "Isn't this just finding joy in hardship?"
