"The main problem is your sister-in-law." Liu Qiang said with some worry, "Your sister-in-law's family is, after all, part of the Zhang family. My father-in-law and Zhang Aijun's father share the same grandfather. They'll be seeing each other all the time. If things get too tense, how will my father-in-law and his family get along with the Zhang family in the future?"
“At worst, we’ll cut all ties with them! They don’t care about this relationship, so why should we?” Zhang Suzhen felt sorry for her husband, and the anger in her heart was still hard to swallow.
There was a knock at the door, and Su Xu quickly asked, "Who is it?"
"Brother Xu, it's me!"
Li Dapeng's voice came from the doorway.
Su Xu then came out of the house and opened the door for Li Dapeng.
Li Dapeng rubbed his hands together, and as he spoke, a ring of breath appeared around his mouth. He pulled Su Xu over to look outside and said, "Did you see that? Zhang Aijun is campaigning for votes."
Su Xu leaned out and saw the Zhang family members walking into a house.
"Let's talk inside." Su Xu let Li Dapeng into the house and then locked the door.
“I heard from others that if Zhang Aijun is elected, he promised to personally pay for rice and noodles to be delivered to elderly people over sixty years old in the village every year during the Spring Festival.”
"Who doesn't have an elderly person in their family these days? Everyone's drawn to this benefit."
Li Dapeng became increasingly angry as he spoke, "Isn't this tantamount to bribery in disguise?"
But could the Zhang family compete with the Liu family in terms of money? They definitely couldn't win. Li Dapeng was so angry that he said, "Sister Nian, you guys are doing the same thing! I don't believe the little money the Zhang family earns is enough for them to live on!"
This idea wasn't just held by Li Dapeng; many people shared it.
The very next day, someone came to our door and asked bluntly, "If we choose Liu Qiang, what can you promise us?"
“Zhang Aijun said he would give rice and flour to the elderly; this is a good deed.”
"Your family has made so much money, shouldn't you contribute something to the community?"
Liu Qiang frowned and said, "I can only promise that I will lead Jiangjuntun to a better path in the future and dedicate myself to the people."
"Anyone can say something like that," the man scoffed, then turned and walked away.
Isn't this just empty promises? Everyone wants to see their own gains, and although Liu Qiang spoke sincerely, nobody believed him.
"Someone must be implying something about us, saying we're all talk and no action!" Zhang Suzhen was furious and sat there sulking.
Liu Nian happened to be there too. She wasn't angry, but she felt a little dumbfounded.
Even in her previous life, Liu Nian did a lot of charity work and was used to remaining anonymous, so it's ridiculous that someone is questioning them now.
"Didn't they promise benefits?" Liu Nian raised an eyebrow and said, "How can such a small benefit be enough?"
Zhang Suzhen and Liu Qiang were both stunned. Zhang Suzhen leaned forward and asked, "What do you mean?"
“What I mean is—” Liu Nian waved to the two of them with a sly smile.
Hearing Liu Nian's words, Zhang Suzhen's eyes lit up.
She clapped her hands and said, "Let's do it this way!"
"You think you can win people's hearts with such a small benefit? No way!" Zhang Suzhen breathed a heavy sigh of relief. "Then let them bleed!"
Liu Qiang and Zhang Suzhen gave Liu Nian a thumbs up and said, "It has to be you!"
"Let's see how they handle this. Being a director isn't an easy job."
