Chapter 48 Curing Shamelessness (1/2)

Chapter 48 Curing Shamelessness

Everyone nodded. Although they didn't know what had happened, they felt that Aunt Cui's words made sense; Liu Nian was destined to be burdened with trouble.

In just a short while, Aunt Cui's rumors had distorted the truth: Liu Nianhuai's child wasn't Su Xu's, and Liu Nianhuai had several lovers outside who were all bad people who had broken the law and should all be caught...

"What should we do?" The Liu family was as anxious as ants on a hot pan, and Liu Hua kept wiping away her tears.

Zhang Suzhen was a capable decision-maker. "Let's go and help the girl keep an eye on the house first."

"No matter what, I believe in my sister. But we can't let others benefit from this!" Zhang Suzhen handed the child to Liu Hua. "Mom, you stay home and watch the child. Qiangzi, Dad, and I will go help my sister look after the house."

They can't let Wang Xiuzhi cause trouble while they're at it!

...

Liu Nian was respectfully taken to the hospital.

"I was afraid that if just anyone came along and offered to take you away, it would cause unnecessary misunderstandings and panic. So I apologize for using this method." The speaker was an elderly, refined and scholarly man, whose brows exuded an air of authority that made people hesitant to look him in the eye.

Liu Nian stared into his eyes, smiled faintly, and said, "It's nothing."

The old man nodded and said, "You're quite composed."

Several people followed in the distance, cautiously glancing around. Liu Nian raised an eyebrow, thinking that this old man was probably some high-ranking big shot.

"I asked you to come here because I want you to help my daughter." The old man sighed. "My daughter is a hero. She burned her face while putting out a fire..."

His tone held both pride and regret.

"I understand," Liu Nian nodded.

The hospital corridor was quiet. Zheng Xiaohua and Zheng Zecheng nodded to Liu Nian from a distance, as if to say, "Please."

It was them, as Liu Nian had already guessed. They had discovered a face cream that could heal the scars on Zhao Ping's face, but they didn't dare to believe it rashly, so they tested her yesterday and took her directly to the hospital today.

Liu Nian pushed open the door and went in, and the girl in the ward immediately turned her head.

Although Liu Nian had prepared herself mentally, she was still stunned by the shock.

Half of her face was burned beyond recognition! But the remaining half of her face still had snow-white skin, round almond-shaped eyes, willow-leaf eyebrows, and watery eyes.

She must have been a beauty before she got injured.

"Thank you for your trouble." The girl said to Liu Nian in a low voice, "Thank you."

Her tone was flat, perhaps because she was used to it, but out of politeness, she said thank you as usual.

Perhaps it's because they've given up hope and have no more expectations.

The girl's name is Wu Lili, and she used to be a soldier. After being injured, she didn't complain or blame others; she just felt a bit tired from all the ordeal.

"Don't worry, I will definitely help you restore your appearance." Liu Nian nodded to her.

"Alright, hurry up. Let me see your tricks. Do you want acupuncture or a medicinal bath? What are you up to if you're acting all mysterious?" The one who spoke was the girl's older sister, Wu Yanyan, who looked at Liu Nian warily. It was obvious that she thought Liu Nian was a fraud.

Liu Nian remained silent, pondering what else on her phone could aid in the treatment.

"Hmph, not saying a word, just putting on airs?" Wu Yanyan walked over angrily and waved her hand in front of Liu Nian's face.

Liu Nian snapped out of her daze. "What?"

Wu Yanyan put on a helpless look, "If you're going to lie, at least be a little more professional!"

The previous scammers at least put on an act, spouting a bunch of nice words, but this one is completely silent? It's inexplicably infuriating; what's with the pretense of being profound?

"Yanyan!" The old man's face darkened, and he scolded, "Whether it works or not, we have to try."

It was obvious that she didn't quite believe him. Liu Nian raised an eyebrow and said, "Get me paper and a pen."
