Chapter 77 Marriage Deception (1/2)

Chapter 77 Marriage Deception

"Really? Who's sick?" Liu Nian didn't think much of it. "I'll ask Xiuxiu later. If someone in their family is sick, we, as relatives, should at least show some concern."

Zhou Hongyi had already pulled Xiuxiu over, and Liu Nian and Su Xu quickly called out together, "Sister, brother-in-law."

Du Jianguo was visibly taken aback, and immediately looked away from Su Xu.

"Come inside, don't block the doorway." Liu Chuanfang gently nudged Liu Nian's back, then looked at Du Jianguo. "You two brothers-in-law can have a drink together later. If you can't leave tonight, you can stay here!"

Zhou Hongyi and Liu Hua started preparing early for today, making a standard eight-bowl feast, steaming it in a pot for half a day, and now it's so soft it's practically falling off the bone.

"Everyone's here this year!" Liu Dafa happily opened a bottle of Erguotou (a type of Chinese liquor). "We guys have to have a good drink!"

Du Jianguo sat there stiffly, a fine layer of sweat beading on his forehead. He would glance at Su Xu from time to time, and then at Liu Nian's stomach.

"You two should hurry up and have a baby too." Liu Chuanfang helped Liu Xiuxiu pick up some food. "It's been so long, and you still haven't gotten pregnant."

Liu Xiuxiu smiled and said, "Okay, we were just planning to have a baby."

Du Jianguo, who had been silent all along, suddenly sneered, "Infertility, huh?"

The people at the table were immediately stunned. Liu Xiuxiu, who had been smiling, suddenly froze. "It's normal that we didn't have any at the beginning."

It's especially awkward to discuss such matters openly, particularly in front of several grown men.

Liu Nian and Su Xu exchanged a glance, and she immediately smoothed things over by saying, "Sister Xiuxiu, try this, it tastes very good."

Liu Nian put a piece of Sichuan peppercorn meat into Liu Xiuxiu's bowl, saying, "It's my mom's specialty."

The topic was thus covered up, and the family continued to act as if nothing had happened, eating and drinking as usual.

Du Jianguo, however, seemed off. He gulped down a glass of wine and began staring intently at Su Xu.

"You told them, didn't you?" Du Jianguo's tongue was slurred, and he rambled on and on: "You definitely told them everything."

Su Xu turned to look at Liu Nian and asked softly, "Is he drunk?"

"I know you all look down on me! Everyone bullies me!" Du Jianguo gritted his teeth, making a grinding sound, his eyes filled with a fierce light. "You all bully me! I'm going to kill you all! Kill you all!"

With a bang, Du Jianguo flipped the table over.

Su Xu hurriedly protected Liu Nian, who was startled and her heart was pounding.

"Jianguo!" Liu Dayong roared, "Don't come here causing trouble just because you've had a couple of drinks!"

Du Jianguo fell silent, sitting on the ground, staring blankly into space. "You told them everything, you told them everything, they all know, they all know..."

This sounded completely nonsensical, but Liu Nian understood it. Du Jianguo saw Su Xu and recognized him as the person he'd met at the hospital. Did he think Su Xu had already spread the word?

It's just a trip to the hospital, why do you look like you're ashamed to be seen in public?

"Jianguo, what's wrong?" Xiuxiu was so frightened that her legs went weak, and she cried as she reached out to pull Du Jianguo, "Jianguo, look at me!"

"Get out! Get out!" Du Jianguo shoved Xiuxiu aside, muttering, "I'm going to be childless! Our Du family line is going to end!"

Du Jianguo's appearance didn't seem like he was drunk at all; it was more like he was having a mental breakdown.

Sure enough, Du Jianguo's eyes widened, and he said, "I'm mentally ill, I'm mentally ill..."

"What?" Zhou Hongyi was so shocked that she immediately sat down on the ground.

Liu Xiuxiu was already sobbing uncontrollably.

Liu Dayong gathered his strength and said, "Let's tie him up first, so he doesn't hurt anyone when he has an attack."

Several men quickly brought ropes, tied the man up, and carried him to the kang (a heated brick bed).
