Chapter 8 A Cunning Plan (1/2)

Chapter 8 A Cunning Plan

The person who tormented her for thirty years in her previous life was Su Hang's mistress. Hiring Er Laizi to ruin her reputation so that Su Hang would marry her—this was all Liu Xiangxiang's idea.

Hehe, Liu Nian curled the corners of her mouth. She had to let Liu Xiangxiang know what it meant to take revenge and settle scores.

"Sister Niannian!" Liu Xiangxiang had regained her innocent and childlike demeanor, walked over and took Liu Nian's hand, saying, "They're showing a movie at the east end of the village tonight, shall we go watch it together?"

Is it really just a simple movie viewing? Who knows what Liu Xiangxiang is up to?

Liu Nian raised an eyebrow and said, "Okay." Then, she subtly pushed Liu Xiangxiang's hand away, "I'm still a little sleepy, I need to go back and get some sleep."

Liu Hua shook her head helplessly yet affectionately, "What will you do after you get married? Will your in-laws let you sleep in every day?"

“My sister might be lucky enough to have that.” Zhang Suzhen laughed twice. “She’s just lucky, there’s nothing we can do about it.”

Liu Xiangxiang chuckled dryly twice and gritted her teeth.

Good fortune? Impossible. Liu Nian's hard days are yet to come.

As soon as Liu Xiangxiang got home, her mother, Shen Juan, put a bucket of swill in front of her and said, "Why did it take you so long? What were you dawdling about? Don't you know there's a lot of work to do at home?"

Shen Juan glared at Liu Xiangxiang fiercely, "I told you to spend more time with Liu Nian and have her dad find your brother a job in the production team. How come you can't even handle something this simple?"

Liu Xiangxiang remained silent, her face grim, and carried the swill bucket towards the pigsty.

She was the only girl in the family, so why did she have endless chores every day? She had to cook for the whole family before dawn, but she could only eat some wild vegetable porridge. If she ate any more, she would be scolded. The only filling meals were for the family's laborers.

The family planned to sell her to raise money for a bride price so their brother could get married. A dowry? That was simply out of the question.

She didn't envy Liu Nian; she hated her. She wanted everyone to suffer together; she wanted to destroy her.

"Hmph, we're all from the same family, why don't they help us out?" Shen Juan snorted. "I don't believe their family can be so smug forever!"

Liu Xiangxiang poured the pig feed into the stone trough, straightened up, and said, "Their family is going to be humiliated tonight. You just need to go..."

The two whispered among themselves, and Shen Juan's eyes lit up. She smiled mischievously, "Okay! That's what I'll do then!"

A movie was going to be shown at the east end of the village in the evening, which was a novelty in the village. After dinner, people were so eager to get there that they grabbed their stools and rushed to reserve a good spot.

Liu Nian carried the stool out the door and just happened to see Liu Xiangxiang walking over.

"Sister Niannian!" Liu Xiangxiang waved with a smile, and before she even reached Liu Nian's side, she said, "Shall we take the shortcut? It'll be faster that way, and we can get a good spot."

Liu Nian, unable to contain himself, smiled calmly and said, "Okay."

Taking the shortcut leads past the abandoned house of Zhang, the landlord, surrounded by weeds as tall as a person. Because several people had hanged themselves from the rafters, it was known as a haunted house, and no one dared approach it. Even in broad daylight, people would take a longer route to avoid it, let alone at night.

It seems Liu Xiangxiang is planning to make her move here.

Liu Nian looked up. Night had fallen, and the houses, some tall and some short, were gradually becoming just vague outlines. Liu Nian and Liu Xiangxiang held hands, and Liu Nian could clearly feel the dampness in Liu Xiangxiang's hands.

Liu Nian said, "What's wrong? Are you nervous?"
