"Sister Nian, I'm leaving." Zhou Han sniffed and walked forward with her head down.
He didn't know where to go, so he just followed the tracks left by the car on the muddy ground. His legs felt fine, neither tired nor hot, but there was a tightness in his chest, and he felt a throbbing sensation in his heart.
Su Feng sat in the car, looked back again, and when she could see nothing, she breathed a sigh of relief.
Wu Qi gripped the steering wheel, glancing furtively at Su Feng, "Su Feng, I believe you."
He suddenly spoke, his lips pursed, his facial muscles tense, anxiously awaiting Su Feng's reply.
Su Feng happily turned her head to look at Wu Qi.
"No matter what others say, I won't believe it. Just say you still love me, and I'll keep waiting for you." Wu Qi felt a lump in his throat, as if something was stuck there. He opened his mouth with difficulty and said again—
"Sufeng, I'm sorry. Because of my family's situation, you've suffered."
Su Feng shook her head, her eyes reddening. She gently leaned on Wu Qi's shoulder and said, "I'm doing this for myself too."
She wanted to become a better person, not just to be worthy of Wu Qi. At first, she studied hard and wanted to go to university because of her inferiority complex, but gradually, she realized that her efforts should not be for anyone else, but for herself.
So even if Wu Qi says he wants to get married now, she won't agree. Getting married would tie her down, and she deserves a wider world to explore.
The car was already parked on the side of the road.
Wu Qi grasped Su Feng's hand, looked down at their tightly clasped hands, cleared his throat and said, "If you meet an even more outstanding boy in the future, just tell me. I, Wu Qi, will always wish you well. Only when you are doing well will I be at ease."
He was terrified that Su Feng would fall in love with someone else, not because he was afraid she would leave, but because he was afraid she would be unhappy.
Su Feng shook her head and said, "No, I won't."
"And then there's Wu Qi." Su Feng straightened up, looked into Wu Qi's eyes, her gaze gentle and smiling. "If one day you meet someone even more outstanding and can't wait any longer, remember to tell me."
They both hoped that each other could be happy, even if that happiness was not something they could give to each other.
The car started moving again and sped away into the distance.
The county is actually not very big; it has a small park and a dilapidated movie theater.
Zhou Han had no idea how she got to the county town. Dragging her legs, she wandered aimlessly through the streets like a walking corpse, not knowing where she was going.
Where could he possibly run into Su Feng? And if he did, what could he say? What could he change? But he just wanted to see her, to see how happy they were together.
Zhou Han sighed, her gaze suddenly sharpening.
In the distance, Su Feng and Wu Qi were rowing a boat on the lake.
He suddenly felt tired and sat down heavily on the ground, panting heavily. He recognized Su Feng's bag; it was at the storage point on the shore.
He braced himself and walked over, quietly slipping the pen inside. He took a breath, straightened up by supporting himself on his knees, and slowly moved forward.
Suddenly, after taking a few steps, I felt dizzy and collapsed.
"Oh no, someone has fainted!" someone on the shore exclaimed, and a flurry of activity ensued.
Su Feng heard the commotion and looked into the distance. She saw a group of people gathered around, and then they dispersed.
She didn't pay attention and turned to look at Wu Qi again.
The water rippled and spread, and the two looked at each other and smiled gently.
In the afternoon, Wu Qi escorted Su Feng back to Jiangjuntun. Su Feng was going to Liu Nian's house to get her books, and Liu Nian teased her, "Did you have fun?"
Su Feng blushed, nodded, and asked again, "Brother-in-law didn't give you a surprise?"
Liu Nian clicked her tongue, raised an eyebrow, and thought for a moment. "Who knows?"
Actually, we can look forward to it, Liu Nian smiled.
That evening, right after they finished dinner, Su Xu said to Liu Nian mysteriously, "Come on, I'll take you somewhere."
