Chapter 9 Dogs Fighting, a Mouthful of Fur
The flickering red light of the torch shone on Liu Xiangxiang's face, and Shen Juan froze on the spot, "Xiang, Xiangxiang?"
She was so frightened that she fell to the ground with a thud. She had been the one shouting the loudest in the crowd, and her previous words felt like a slap in the face.
"My God, it's your daughter!" The women all looked at Shen Juan. They were all embarrassed for her. She kept saying she was catching a slut, but it turned out she was catching her own daughter.
Shen Juan panicked. Looking at Liu Xiangxiang, whose clothes were disheveled, she was furious. How could her family ever face anyone again after this?

Through the crowd, Liu Nian gave him a disdainful look, then pushed her way through.
As soon as Liu Nian appeared, another round of discussion broke out.
"He used to act like he was deeply in love with Liu Nian, but then he turned around and hooked up with Liu Xiangxiang. I used to think Su Hang was a good kid."
"I think Su Hang is just trying to have his cake and eat it too! He schemed against his own brother's girlfriend, and even claimed he did it because he liked her. But what happened? It was all an act! He just wanted to become the village chief's son-in-law!"
Liu Xiangxiang suddenly looked up, her eyes filled with hatred, but Liu Nian met her gaze without showing any emotion.
Her gaze was cold, even contemptuous.
Liu Xiangxiang suddenly shouted indignantly, "Liu Nian, it's you! I treated you like a good friend!"
"What are you talking about?" Liu Nian shook her head. "Didn't you send Su Hang here?"
Liu Xiangxiang was startled, her shocked eyes trembling. She had secretly gone to the production team's cowshed yesterday, where Su Hang was being held.
Su Hang tearfully told her that he was completely finished and that the Liu family would only spare his life if he could marry Liu Nian, because he was their son-in-law.
So Liu Xiangxiang suggested that they should make it a fait accompli and have someone witness it, so that Su Hang could say that Liu Nian seduced him. For the sake of their reputation, the Liu family would definitely make Liu Nian marry him.
Liu Nian turned around and said to everyone, "Actually, Xiangxiang and Su Hang have been together for quite a while, but Su Hang has always been fickle."
At this point, Liu Nian sighed, showing a look of pity for Liu Xiangxiang, "That's why Xiangxiang got anxious and thought of forcing Su Hang to marry her."
"To sell her innocence just to trap a man? You actually came up with such a despicable tactic, tsk tsk."

Shen Juan stood up abruptly, pointed at Su Hang, and shouted, "You have to take responsibility! If you want to marry my daughter, you have to give a dowry of one thousand yuan, plus three turns and one radio!"
"Not a penny!" Wang Xiuzhi stormed in, saying disdainfully, "Your daughter has ruined her reputation. If she doesn't marry my son, who will? If you don't give her a generous dowry, we won't even let her into the house!"
Enraged, Shen Juan gritted her teeth and said, "If you don't give me the bride price, I'll sue your son for indecent assault!"
“Your daughter is willing! She’s eager to marry you! If this bad reputation spreads, will your son still want to get married?” Wang Xiuzhi retorted without backing down. “You might as well let your daughter jump into the river to save your family’s reputation!”
Seeing this, Liu Nian smiled slightly. This was the result she wanted: dogs fighting and getting nothing in return.

The man, looking anxious and covered in sweat, rushed up to her.
He grabbed her hand, then, as if startled, realized something was amiss and quickly let go.
"It's her man!" Liu Nianqiao exclaimed. "Ah Xu!"
