Chapter 241 A Strong Backing

"Stop talking, Mom's already scolding me to death. She said we're wasting money. You can be silly, but I'll just go along with it," Su Yu said, his head aching.

Li Juan nagged him about this all night after she found out about it.

I even asked him this morning before I left home if I could cancel the lease.

Su Yan laughed until her stomach hurt.

Only her mother could say something like that; she's adorably silly.

"You're still laughing?" Su Yu suddenly realized something, his eyes widening as he said, "You little brat, are you deliberately trying to frame me? I've been so good to you, and it's all for nothing!"

Su Yan immediately raised her hands in surrender and said, "She'll stop nagging in a couple of days. It's good that we bought a house now; maybe the economy will develop and house prices will rise in the future."

At first, Su Yu thought Su Yan bought the house just to store things in the cellar, but now it seems that's not entirely true.

The bus station wasn't far from the braised food shop, and the two of them arrived at the shop entrance in the short time they were talking.

The braised food shop is busy from opening to closing time.

"Mother!" Su Yan called out as she walked in.

Li Juan was packing things when she saw her daughter and immediately glared at her, then told Qiu Xiaorou to take over.

After taking off her gloves, she pulled Su Yan to a tree not far from the shop entrance and began to scold her, "You headstrong girl, buying a house is such a big deal, you didn't even discuss it with the family! You're not going to squander your money like this! You..."

Su Yan lowered her head and listened obediently to the reprimand. When she saw Su Yu sitting at the shop entrance, secretly laughing, she glared at him.

Su Yu touched his nose and stopped laughing.

After about four or five minutes, Li Juan finally stopped.

Su Yan immediately took out a bottle of soda she had prepared beforehand and handed it over, saying ingratiatingly, "Mom, calm down. I'll definitely discuss buying a house with you in the future."

Li Juan took the drink, drank a sip, and asked, still unwilling to give up, "Is it really impossible to return it?"

Su Yan asked hesitantly, "Yesterday a customer bought some of our braised food but didn't eat it. He brought it back to the shop today to return it. Will you return it to him?"

"What? How can we refund it? Business is..." Li Juan paused, turned her head and met Su Yan's innocent expression, and slapped her lightly, "You little brat!"

Seeing that her anger had subsided, Su Yan smiled and said, "Mom, Uncle Tang said that the economy will get better and better in the future, and the price of everything will only rise and never fall. If we don't buy houses for Xiao Lei and Hu Zi now, we will have to spend even more money in the future."

Li Juan always believed what Tang Li said.

Sure enough, she wavered as soon as she heard that. "Really? You're not lying to me?"

Why would I lie to you? If you don't believe me, ask him again next time you see him.

Li Juan sighed, took her hand, and said, "Your expenses for opening a restaurant in Guangzhou are high, and I'm worried you might be short of money. But it's alright, when Xiao Lei and Hu Zi grow up, I'll have them pay you back the money they saved for the house. If you need money, just tell me. I have plenty here, all saved for you. You can't carry this burden alone, understand?"

Su Yan's eyes welled up with tears. She reached out and hugged Li Juan, choking back sobs as she said, "Mom, thank you. Thank you for being my strong support."

"What are you thanking me for?" Li Juan said irritably. "Alright, what did the doctor say when you took Hu Zi to Lanzhou for treatment?"

Su Yan released her and told her the truth about Hu Zi's condition.

After hearing this, Li Juan couldn't help but sigh, "What a tragedy!"

"It's alright. Master Jue wants to take me on as his last disciple. If I go to him, he'll be willing to treat Hu Zi," Su Yan reassured her.

Li Juan's eyes lit up, "Really?"

Su Yan nodded, "But I have to go back to school soon, so I can't keep an eye on Hu Zi all the time. I need to find someone to go to Beijing with me."

Actually, she didn't want Grandma Li and Grandpa Li to go to such a far place. After all, they are old people, and if they go to a place where they don't know anyone, they won't know what to do all day except take care of the child, especially since both of them are always busy.

Before she knew it, she had revealed her true thoughts: “Mom, I’m going to find a reliable person to take Tiger to Beijing for treatment. The task of persuading Grandma and Grandpa to stay at home is up to you.”

"Okay, I'll go back and talk to them." Li Juan said, "You should go back and rest now, the meat you just raised is gone again."

Su Yan has a naturally thin body; she doesn't gain weight no matter what she eats, or she gains weight very slowly. However, she loses weight very noticeably when she gets tired.

She didn't feel like she had lost weight, but she nodded in agreement with her mother. "Then I'll be going, Mom. Tell Xiaorou to come home and find me when she's done with her work. I have something to discuss with her."

"Okay, go ahead."

Su Yan didn't say anything more and invited Su Yu to go home together.

When Su Yan got home, she called out twice, but her grandparents were not home.

"Brother, I'm going upstairs to catch up on some sleep. You take care of Tiger and tell Grandpa and Grandma about Tiger's situation when they come back."

Seeing the dark circles under his sister's eyes, Su Yu said with heartache, "Go upstairs and go to sleep."

Su Yan responded and went back to her room.

She changed her clothes before lying down on the bed, then picked up her mobile phone and made a call.

Before leaving, Mr. Jue gave her his phone number.

The phone rang for a while before being answered.

The voice that spoke was unfamiliar. "This is Mr. Jue's home. I am his family member. May I ask who you are?"

Su Yan paused for a moment, then said, "Hello, my name is Su Yan, and I'm looking for Mr. Jue."

"Wait a mininute."

Then the voices on the other end of the phone came through.

"Master, a lady named Su Yan is looking for you. Do you know her?"

"Su Yan? Give me the phone right now!"

Soon, the phone rang, and Mr. Jue's kind voice asked, "Is this Xiaoyan?"

Su Yan smiled and said, "It's me, sir. I hope I haven't bothered you?"

"No, no! I'm very happy to receive your call." Mr. Jue said happily, "Have you made up your mind?"

"Yes, I've made up my mind. I'm willing to become your last disciple. I wonder if you would still be willing to accept me?"

Mr. Jue burst into hearty laughter, his tone both helpless and indulgent: "Shut up! I've been waiting for your call for so long, you little rascal, you've really been driving me crazy!"

He felt increasingly distressed these past few days. If he missed out on this talented girl, it would be a lifelong regret. However, he was afraid of bothering Su Yan, so he refrained from calling her.

I was planning to call Su Yan this afternoon, but she called first.

Seeing his usually serious master so happy, Guo Ziming couldn't help but become curious about the girl who had called.

Su Yan said apologetically, "I'm sorry, sir. My younger brother is sick and his condition is not good. He just got home from the hospital today and contacted you as soon as he had some free time."

As expected.

Upon hearing this, Mr. Jue couldn't help but ask, "What illness does your brother have?"

Su Yan's lips curled up slightly, her tone sounding a little downcast: "The doctor said that his legs are pressing on nerves, and if it's not treated, he won't be able to walk in the future. But Western medicine's techniques aren't mature enough, so he asked me to take him to try acupuncture, which might give him a chance."
