Chapter 27 The Surprise from Wei Wu

Li Juan has no talent for cooking. Even after Su Yan taught her all day, she was still mediocre at handling the ingredients, either using an absurd amount or using a pitifully small amount.

Li Juan's face flushed red, and she said awkwardly, "Is Mother very stupid? She can't even do this little thing right."

I practiced it 5 times, using 5 jin of pork belly and 2 jin of pig intestines. It tasted good, but it wasn't as amazing as Su Yan's version.

Su Yan didn't care much. "If you don't have talent, just train hard. Anyone can make these things as long as you get the ingredients and order right. When the time comes, just buy a scale and Mom, you can just weigh it and mix the ingredients. You don't need to figure it out yourself."

She must have cooked a lot in her past life, so she has developed muscle memory for seasoning requirements and can tell at a glance whether there is too much or too little.

"What a waste of meat!" Li Juan said, feeling a little distressed.

The weather is so hot now, there's no way to store too much if we make too much.

Five pounds of meat would be wasted if we couldn't finish it tonight, so Su Yan glanced at it and said, "Then let's take a piece to the brigade leader's family and send some to Grandpa Zhongnan to try."

These two are the most influential people in the village, and it's not a bad idea for Li Juan to use them as a favor. Anyway, there's plenty of meat at home, so as long as it's not wasted.

"Then Mother will send it over in a bit."

Su Yan responded thoughtfully, pondering whether she should add a braised pork rice dish to the menu. She would top the rice with two level spoonfuls of pork, serve it with some pickled vegetables, and drizzle it with two spoonfuls of braising sauce. It would taste delicious when mixed together, and it wouldn't take much time. She would price it at two yuan a box and then create a gimmick by only selling 10 jin of braised pork rice a day, no more.

After thinking for a moment, she took out paper and pen from her room and wrote down the recipe for braised pork.

The ingredients for braised pork are half that of braised dishes, making it much simpler. Her mother can make it, and she can focus on braising the dishes.

When Li Juan returned from delivering meat and learned that her daughter had come up with a new variety of meat, she felt like the sky had fallen!

"Smoking! If we make so much, won't we be able to sell it?"

She was afraid that her daughter's ideas were too idealistic and that she would end up losing everything. Even if you have money, you can't just squander it like that.

Su Yan didn't want to explain anymore. She figured her mother would shut up on her own when the store opened.

Li Juan comforted herself, thinking that the money she lost was within her acceptable range, and if she couldn't sell them, she would just keep them.

Because the business is opening the day after tomorrow, Su Yan plans to go into the mountains tomorrow to collect medicinal herbs for the braised food and also deliver some food to Wei Wu. So that night, she packed fifty mung bean and glutinous rice dumplings with meat and ten catties of fatty pork.

The next morning, before dawn, Su Yan carried thirty zongzi (sticky rice dumplings) and ten jin (5 kg) of meat up the mountain.

Reaching the spot where Weiwu had fought the wild boar, Su Yan didn't see Weiwu. She put down the basket on her back and shouted, "Weiwu? Where are you? I brought you food!"

"roar--!"

A tiger's roar instantly shattered the silence of the mountain forest.

Before Su Yan could react, a gust of wind swept past her, making her hair whip against her face.

When he came to his senses, he looked down and saw that the basket on the ground had been kicked over, and the contents had all rolled out. Weiwu buried his head and ate with great effort, drool dripping from his mouth as he ate.

Su Yan: "..."

She said speechlessly, "Next time you show up, can you please take the normal route?"

Wei Wu glanced at her sideways, his mouth still moving.

Su Yan laughed, reached out and stroked the tiger's fur hard, and said irritably, "It's just that I haven't come to see you for a few days, is it necessary to be so angry with me?"

Wei Wu exhaled a heavy puff of air from his nose, indicating that he was very unhappy.

"Oh dear, although I don't come up here often, I'm always thinking about you. The food you're eating now is something I made last night, and I came up to find you first thing this morning," she said, sounding "wronged."

Wei Wu paused, looking at her thoughtfully.

Does this two-legged creature really want to be a tiger?

However, the two-legged creature did bring a lot of delicious food this time, so for the sake of these things, it probably won't hold it against her.

After thinking for a moment, Weiwu tapped Su Yan's head with its tail, "Roar~!" Tiger forgives you.

After Weiwu finished eating, the sun had just risen. The azure sky was surrounded by pink and white clouds, and the golden-orange light illuminated every piece of the earth. It was a clean and beautiful sight unlike anything he had ever seen before.

"I wish I had a cell phone."

As soon as Su Yan finished speaking, she suddenly felt her trouser leg being tugged.

Looking down, she saw Wei Wu, who had eaten and drunk his fill, biting her trouser leg and heading in another direction.

"What's wrong?" she asked.

"Roar!" Follow me.

Su Yan had no choice but to follow its direction.

We took the same route as last time, but this time we took a different fork in the road and stopped after about ten minutes.

Wei Wu led her to a deep and spacious cave that could hold at least three tigers.

The entrance to the cave was littered with the carcasses of various animals.

Two monkeys, three rabbits, one goat, and eight wounded, barely breathing pheasants.

Except for the pheasants, the other animals still had blood in their major arteries, indicating that they had only recently died.

Wei Wu walked to the cave entrance, tilted his head back, proudly raised his chin, and let out a triumphant low roar: "Roar~!"

It's as if it's saying: Look! This is the empire I conquered for you!

Seeing this, Su Yan couldn't help but burst out laughing; she was amused by its arrogant demeanor.

"Are these all for me?" she asked.

Wei Wu nodded, seemingly understanding and humane.

This was supposed to be its breakfast, but before it could eat it, it heard the two-legged creature calling it. Now that it's full, it doesn't want any of this stuff anymore.

"Roar!" Wait for me.

Weiwu turned and ran into the cave entrance, quickly disappearing into the darkness.
