Chapter 5 Selling Medicine in Town

Li Juan's cooking skills were so-so that Su Yan, who was used to eating gourmet food, could hardly swallow it.

She ate a cornbread bun with tears in her eyes.

It seems that improving the meals and taking over the kitchen should be put on the agenda.

Li Juan was in a hurry to get to work when she arrived in town, so she told Su Yan to go to the tailor shop to find her after she finished selling her goods, and they could go back together after she finished get off work.

Su Yan responded and then began searching for her target.

She asked several passersby before finally arriving at the town's only traditional Chinese medicine shop—Baicaotang.

Su Yan entered the store and politely inquired, "Hello, do you buy fresh Chinese medicinal herbs?"

Fang Guimei, who was keeping accounts, looked up when she heard the sound.

Seeing the faded clothes and the man's sallow complexion, Su Yan, carrying two baskets, flashed impatience in her eyes and said with disgust, "Go, go, go! We at Baicaotang buy medicinal herbs, not weeds!"

After cursing, Fang Guimei muttered disdainfully, "Any Tom, Dick, or Harry dares to come here. It's so annoying."

Su Yan's expression turned cold. "You didn't even look at it, how dare you conclude that what I'm selling isn't medicinal herbs?"

She's not one to be easily appeased; she'll settle scores on the spot.

Fang Guimei was shocked that this country bumpkin dared to talk back to her, and her anger flared up instantly.

She slammed down her pen, walked out from behind the counter, grabbed Su Yan's basket, dumped all the medicinal herbs inside onto the ground, and shouted sarcastically, "What do you know about medicinal herbs, you dirty, smelly poor wretch? I've never seen any medicinal herb that looks like grass!"

After saying that, she raised her leg and stomped it a few times.

"Get out of here with your herbs! You're not welcome at Baicaotang!"

The sudden numbness and pain in her calves caused Fang Guimei to kneel down on both knees.

Su Yan withdrew her kick, her expression cold. "Can't speak properly? No problem, I'll teach you for free."
