Chapter 55 Partners

Yunxiang Restaurant officially launched two new dishes at noon today.

Mao Xue Wang (a spicy Sichuan dish) and Scallion Oil Chicken.

The business is busy from lunchtime all the time; the chefs in the kitchen are working themselves to the bone and can't stop.

Moreover, all the customers who have tried these two dishes have given them rave reviews, and people are lining up at the entrance of Fanghua Restaurant just to try these two new dishes.

Yunxiang Restaurant is now as popular as it was during its heyday.

The phone in Manager Feng Caixia's office kept ringing, all calls from headquarters or branches in other provinces.

Each one of them asked her for the recipes for the new dishes.

But she brushed it off vaguely, wanting to wait for the people from headquarters to come in person and let them experience what it meant to be embarrassed.

Although Yunxiang Restaurant has many branches, the dishes are different for each branch, and the dishes are determined according to the tastes of each province.

Lanshi Yunxiang Restaurant also has its own signature dishes. When she first took office, she was naive and thought that other restaurants would share her signature dishes. Who knew that they would turn their backs on her after getting the recipes?

In the past two years, her restaurant business has been getting worse and worse. She has repeatedly asked branches in other provinces to send her a menu, but they have all refused. Even the headquarters has ignored her and criticized her, saying that it is her problem and that she is incompetent in managing the restaurant. If things continue like this, the headquarters will replace her directly.

She had been holding this grudge in her heart, and she would never hand over the recipes until headquarters revealed something.

And then there's Su Yan, she's a real gem, she needs to build a good relationship with this little girl.

"Manager Feng, this is the restaurant's revenue for the past three hours."

The accountant walked in with the ledgers in hand, looking delighted.

Feng Caixia took the ledger and glanced at it, then gasped in shock.

Five thousand eight?

The accountant nodded. "Yes, this is the net profit from the two new dishes. All three floors are full, and there are probably fifty more tables lined up outside."

A dish of Maoxuewang costs two yuan to make, but sells for thirty-five yuan.

A serving of scallion oil chicken contains half a chicken, costs 2.5 yuan, and sells for 40 yuan.

Two recipes cost six thousand yuan, and I earned it back in less than a day.

At this moment, Feng Caixia wished she could grab Su Yan and praise her lavishly, and then get her to move her fingers and sell her a few more new dishes.

"Go and tell them that starting the day after tomorrow, only fifty servings of the two new dishes will be sold per day, and the price of each dish will be increased by one yuan."

"Huh?" The accountant hesitated. "Another price increase? These two dishes are the most expensive in our restaurant. What if customers complain if we raise the price by another dollar? Besides, why are we selling them in limited quantities? Wouldn't it be better to make more money?"

Previously, the most expensive signboard at Yunxiang Restaurant was only 26 yuan.

"Are you stupid? Do you think people who come to restaurants to spend money are short of a little bit of money?"

“Things are valued for their scarcity. If I sell in limited quantities, more people will want to eat them. If they can’t get them today, they’ll come tomorrow. This cycle continues, and the business won’t decline as quickly. We can use this time to explore new dishes.”

The accountant gave a thumbs-up in admiration, "It has to be you, Manager."

The more booming Yunxiang's business is, the more dismal Fanghua Restaurant across the street becomes.

I haven't earned 500 yuan since I started operating.

Fanghua's Manager's Office.

Looking out the window at the long line of customers outside Yunxiang Restaurant, Lou Kai had already smoked a whole pack of cigarettes and was so angry he almost ground his teeth to powder.

"When did Yunxiang invent a new dish? Why didn't the scouts let them in?"

He had never heard of dishes like Mao Xue Wang (a spicy Sichuan dish) or Cong You Ji (chicken with scallion oil).

Fanghua's head chef said with a bitter smile, "The spy was discovered by Feng Caixia, and he was fired today."

Yunxiang's new dishes were released, and Fanghua's spies were fired. What a coincidence!

Lou Kai, with a cigarette dangling from his lips, sneered, "I underestimated Feng Caixia."

"Manager, Yunxiang's new vegetables have arrived."

A person walked in from outside, carrying two takeout boxes.

After opening the package, Lou Kai immediately picked up his chopsticks and tasted it.

The spicy and savory Mao Xue Wang (a Sichuan dish) is delicious, and the scallion oil chicken is fresh and tender.

It tastes really good.

Lou Kai asked while eating, "Have you found the chef yet?"

"I heard that Feng Caixia bought the recipe from someone else."

"Then let's find the person who sells the recipes!"

The head chef looked troubled. "Manager, the only outsider Feng Caixia has been in contact with recently is the young girl she brought back to the restaurant yesterday. There's no one else, and we don't even know where that young girl is from."

Lou Kai gave her a cold look and said, "Find out where Feng Caixia drove to yesterday. I'll go there myself."

Unaware that she was being targeted by two people, Su Yan was currently looking for long-term business partners at the market.

However, all the vendors selling duck products at the market said the same thing.

There are no advantages to long-term cooperation; take it or leave it.

She had received so many goods from them before, but it turns out they only cared about the money.

Su Yan clicked her tongue lightly. Once she found a regular seller, she would see if the duck products at the market could still be sold.

She wandered around for a while, but couldn't find anything suitable even at the end of the market. Just as she was about to go back, her peripheral vision caught sight of a little boy huddled at the very edge of the stall at the end. In front of him were two plucked ducks and a small mountain of duck products piled on top of a plastic bag.

She walked over and squatted down. "Little brother, what do you sell?"

The little boy's clothes were patched, and his slippers were tattered, but he himself was clean. He was very thin, looking like he had hardly any flesh on him.

When the little boy saw her squat down, his clear eyes lit up, and he quickly said, "Sister, I sell ducks and duck products. What do you want? I'll give you a discount."

For such a young age, he's quite adept at business.

Su Yan pointed to the pile of duck parts, "I want these, but I want a lot, over a hundred pounds. Do you have that many?"

"Yes!" the little boy immediately replied, "My family has some. We run a duck farm, but I didn't bring any with me today. Could you wait here for me... for an hour?"

Su Yan frowned and said, "Since your family runs a breeding farm, you shouldn't be short of money. Why did your family let you go out and do business?"

The little boy pursed his lips, seemingly reluctant to speak, and changed the subject, saying, "Sister, can you wait for me?"

"Okay." Su Yan didn't ask any further questions. She then listed the required weight for each type of food before saying, "I'll wait for you here. Take your time."

After writing it down, the little boy immediately pushed the cart away, forgetting even to take the two ducks that were on the cart, not even worried that someone might take them.

Su Yan couldn't help but find it amusing; this child was really carefree.

She picked up a small stool and sat down to wait.

I was getting a little sleepy when a deep, magnetic voice suddenly rang out above me.

"You can sleep here? You're really carefree."
