Chapter 64 The Bickering Between Su Yan and Jiang Jingxing, a Couple of Love and Hate

"Su Yan!"

The captain shouted anxiously, but the fire was too intense, and he dared not rush in rashly.

"Ayan!" Li Juan ran over, her composure broken, the raging fire reflected in her eyes.

She watched as her daughter rushed in without hesitation. With such a huge fire, unless one was incredibly lucky, there was almost no chance of survival.

Her mind went blank, and she instinctively tried to rush in, but Lin Xiuli and the others held her back.

"Juanzi, you mustn't act impulsively," Lin Xiuli advised. "Su Yan and the others are in the room; the fire hasn't spread inside yet."

After struggling to no avail, Li Juan could only turn her pleading gaze to the brigade leader.

With a thud, she knelt down.

"Captain, please save my family! If anything happens to them, I won't be able to live either!" Li Juan cried, tears streaming down her face.

Everyone felt quite uncomfortable seeing this.

The brigade leader said, "I've already arranged for the village's young men to go in; they'll definitely..."

"Comrades, please make way."

Before the captain could finish speaking, a loud voice suddenly rang out.

Everyone looked over and saw eight People's Liberation Army soldiers dressed in camouflage uniforms and with makeup on their faces running over with several water pipes and spraying them directly at the fire.

Everyone immediately breathed a sigh of relief.

"Comrades of the People's Liberation Army, there are still people trapped inside the house. Please rescue them quickly!" a villager reminded them.

Li Juan shook off Lin Xiuli's hand, ran to one of the People's Liberation Army soldiers who was watering the plants, and pleaded, "Soldier comrade, please save Ayan, my son, my parents, I'm begging you on my knees."

Seeing this, Jiang Jingxing quickly grabbed Li Juan's arm and handed the hose to someone nearby, saying, "Two of you come in with me to rescue people, the rest of you put out the fire."

"yes!"

After Jiang Jingxing finished speaking, he said to Li Juan with a serious expression, "Auntie, please calm down and trust us."

He left those words behind, took a handkerchief from his pocket, soaked it, and led his men inside.

Lin Xiuli helped Li Juan, who was paralyzed on the ground, to her feet and comforted her, saying, "Ayan and the others are lucky, they will be alright. Now the People's Liberation Army comrades have arrived, so don't worry."

Li Juan remained silent, her gaze fixed blankly on the house, her tears flowing even more profusely.

She dared not say that her parents were so old, how could they withstand such torment?

If something really happens, she will never be able to forgive herself for the rest of her life.

Time ticked by, and everyone present grew increasingly anxious.

"The house was doused with gasoline, and the fire will be very difficult to put out."

"That heartless Zhu Xiaoping, how could she be so cruel? What did Su Yan's family ever do to her that she would actually try to kill someone!"

“My dog, Gou Dan, also saw Zhu Xiaoping tie up Uncle Li and the others inside the house.”

When Su Yan and the others returned, almost everyone had gone to the fields. Except for those who were very old or unable to work, almost no one was at home.

Furthermore, Zhu Xiaoping chose to do it at noon when the heat was so intense; wasn't that a sign of a guilty conscience?

"They're out! They're out!"

The excited shouts brought Li Juan back to her senses instantly, and she scrambled to her feet and ran over.

Two People's Li soldiers carried Grandma Li and Hu Zi out one after the other, followed by Grandpa Li and Su Lei.

"father!"

"mother!"

"Lei Zi and Hu Zi!"

Li Juan rushed over and hugged the person, bursting into tears.

The group huddled together, weeping uncontrollably.

"Auntie, the child is fine, just a little frightened. The two elderly people caught a bit of smoke, but otherwise they are fine. However, it would be best to take them to the hospital for a check-up."

"Also, there's a young woman inside who was injured when a piece of wood from the building accidentally fell and hit her leg while we were moving her to a safer location. Our leader is still inside, but he'll be out soon, so don't worry too much," one of the comrades explained.

The crying stopped abruptly a second after he finished speaking.

Meanwhile, inside the house...

Su Yan felt dizzy from the pain in her injured leg, her delicate face as pale as paper. She covered her nose with a wet handkerchief and watched with half-open eyes as the tall figure moved the piece of wood.

The log pressing on her legs weighed at least several dozen kilograms. She had used a lot of effort to move her grandfather and the others to a new location, and with all the smoke she had inhaled, she was completely exhausted.

"uh-huh!"

As they pried open the last piece of wood around her ankle, a nail was also pulled out of her ankle, and blood gushed out of the wound uncontrollably.

Jiang Jingxing reacted quickly, clutching his wound. His face was ashen as he glared at her, his voice filled with a gritted teeth and anger: "You're really good at enduring things. You didn't even utter a sound when a nail was stuck in your bone. Su Yan, who taught you to be so patient? Hmm?"

Su Yan felt like she was about to faint from the pain, but when she heard him blaming her at this moment, she immediately perked up with anger. She glared at him fiercely and said aggrievedly, "Are you even human? I'm injured like this and you're still yelling at me. I curse you to never find a wife in your life!"

Jiang Jingxing: "..."

He was both amused and annoyed by Su Yan's childish behavior. He grabbed her ankle with one hand and easily picked her up with the other, carrying her outside.

"If I can't marry you, I'll marry you, how about that?"

"roll!"

Su Yan felt like she was going to vomit after she finished cursing.

Jiang Jingxing smiled, but his expression changed to seriousness the moment he stepped out the door.

Once outside in the courtyard, he placed Su Yan against a tree.

Jiang Jingxing left without saying anything.

Li Juan and her group rushed over.

"Ayan, how are you? Your mother was so worried," Li Juan said, still shaken.

Su Yan shook her head and forced herself to speak, "Mom, I'm fine. You go and take care of Grandma and the others. I'm a little tired. Let me catch my breath."

Upon hearing this, Li Juan quickly replied, "Okay, okay, Mom won't scold you. Oh dear! Why is your foot bleeding so much?"

Jiang Jingxing returned with hemostatic medicine and disinfectant, and replied first, "Auntie, don't worry, I'll take you to the hospital for a check-up later."

Having just heard from other PLA comrades that this person was their leader and that they had saved their family's lives, Li Juan was extremely grateful to Jiang Jingxing and his group. Upon hearing this, she wiped away her tears and said, "With you soldiers here, I feel very reassured."

What reassured her was not the people, but the clothes they were wearing.

Thank you for your trust.

After Jiang Jingxing finished speaking, he began to treat Su Yan's wounds.

When the disinfectant was applied, the wound made a sizzling sound. Su Yan grimaced in pain, her face contorted in agony, but she didn't utter a single sound.

Jiang Jingxing was displeased and criticized, "Can't you act like a girl? How can you be so tolerant? Do you think you're a Ninja Turtle? Shout when you should."

Su Yan glared at him and retorted irritably, "Do you live by the sea? Why are you so nosy!"
