Soon after, Wang Xiuhong knocked on the door and came in.
"Chairman, is there something you need?"
Xiao Weiguo sat up straight, his expression somewhat serious.
"Mr. Wang, starting tomorrow, you will be fully responsible for the company's affairs. If there is anything you really can't handle, wait for me to come back."
Wang Xiuhong was taken aback.
"What, are you going out?"
"There is something very serious that I must deal with personally. I will head to the provincial capital first thing tomorrow morning. I will give you my contact information when I arrive."
Upon hearing this, Wang Xiuhong didn't ask any further questions and nodded in agreement.
Xiao Weiguo left the office immediately. He was going to the provincial capital tomorrow and didn't know how long it would take to return. He still needed to make some arrangements at home.
As I walked out of the office, intending to ask Jiao Bai to bring the car over, I remembered that Jiao Bai had gone to Daye Town and hadn't returned yet. Looking at the time, three hours had already passed; he should be arriving soon.
Sure enough, after waiting downstairs for a short while, Jiao Bai's car drove up.
Seeing Xiao Weiguo waiting by the roadside, Jiao Bai braked his car in front of him.
In the back row sat Gao Hu, looking around with curiosity.
"Brother, I went to pick up this kid, but he didn't want to come. I offered him several times his salary before he agreed. You have to pay for that."
Xiao Weiguo opened the back door and sat down next to Gao Hu.
"Let's go home first, we'll talk on the way."
Jiao Bai turned the car around and drove home again.
Xiao Weiguo brought Gao Hu over with the intention of using him to solidify evidence of Zhang Jinliang's illegal use of child labor, keeping Gao Hu in his grasp as a trump card to be played at any time.
Furthermore, after Xiao Jian returned, he got along well with everyone else, but with him, it was immediately obvious that there was still some distance between them.
Xiao Weiguo knew that Gao Hu was Xiao Jian's best partner over there, and he also wanted to use Gao Hu to get closer to Xiao Jian.
Now, the matter of chemical fibers is urgent, and Xiao Weiguo can't worry about Zhang Jinliang's matter for the time being, so he can only let him have a few more days of freedom.
On the way, Xiao Weiguo asked Gao Hu if he had any plans for the future.
Gao Hu shook his head, indicating that he had always just been making a living and had never had any concrete plans.
This put Xiao Weiguo in a bit of a dilemma.
Gao Hu has been begging with his grandmother since he was a child and has never been to school. Sending him to school now is simply unrealistic. What would happen if a sixteen or seventeen-year-old boy were to go to first grade with a bunch of seven or eight-year-olds?
But he can't be allowed to work at this age, otherwise, what's the difference between him and Zhang Jinliang?
For now, we can only let him keep Xiao Jian company. We'll think about work in a year or two when they're both adults. Anyway, there are already about ten people in the family, so one more or one less won't make a difference.
Although this kid isn't very well-educated, his feelings for Xiao Jian are commendable, and Xiao Weiguo isn't short of money to support him.
"Gao Hu, you can stay at my house from now on. If you need money or anything, just tell Xiao Jian. Of course, you can also tell me."
Gao Hu shook his head somewhat blankly and said.
“Brother Xiao, I don’t need any money, just enough to eat. I can do any dirty or hard work around the house, so you don’t have to worry about me.”
Xiao Weiguo sighed inwardly.
This is another unfortunate child. The pressures of life have caused him to focus all his energy solely on getting a full meal.
“We have a nanny at home, so you don’t need to do any work. If it’s convenient for you, could you help me talk to Xiao Jian? He and I haven’t gotten along very well since he came back. Do you understand what I mean?”
Gao Hu's eyes darted around, clearly still not understanding what was going on. With an older brother like Xiao Weiguo, why was Xiao Jian still unhappy? Looking at his entourage, he must be a very big boss. Why was Xiao Jian suffering like this?
Despite not understanding, Xiao Weiguo's request was not difficult to fulfill, so he nodded in agreement.
"Don't worry, Brother Xiao. I've been eating and sleeping with Brother Xiao Jian for over a year. We're very close. I'll help you persuade him."
Hearing this, Xiao Weiguo felt relieved.
When the car arrived at the door, Xiao Weiguo led Gao Hu into the yard.
Gao Hu was clearly not used to the quiet and comfortable environment in front of him, and followed Xiao Weiguo timidly.
Only Grandma, Xiao Jiang, and Xiao Yue were at home; the young people who had gone shopping hadn't returned yet.
Ms. Zhou Ruolan had some family matters to attend to today and did not come to teach Xiao Yue during the day.
When Grandma saw Xiao Weiguo leading another boy home, the first thing she asked was...
"Oh, whose child is this?"
Xiao Weiguo stepped forward and took his grandmother's arm, whispering in her ear about Gao Hu's background.
He did this because he was afraid Gao Hu would hear him say that he was an orphan and that it would make him sad.
After hearing this, Grandma looked distressed and went to take Gao Hu's hand.
"Oh, poor child, you'll stay with Grandma from now on. If Grandma has food, you'll have food too."
Gao Hu didn't know who the old lady was, but based on his judgment, she should be Xiao Weiguo's grandmother.
The old woman's kind face and loving eyes instantly reminded him of his deceased grandmother. Tears almost welled up in his eyes.
"Thank you, Grandma."
Gao Hu bent down and bowed deeply to the old lady.
Xiao Jiang and Xiao Yue stood on either side of the old lady, their big eyes blinking as they stared intently at Gao Hu.
Once Gao Hu straightened up, they took the initiative to greet him.
Hello, brother.
