Chapter 140 A person with deep feelings is like a dog

These past few days have been very difficult for Xiao Feng.

Since the argument with Fu Xiaolian that day, he had calmed down, but Fu Xiaolian still seemed unwilling to forgive him.

Sigh, if I had known this would happen, I wouldn't have bothered with her.

Xiao Feng now regrets his impulsiveness that day.

No matter what, Fu Xiaolian is more than ten years younger than him. How could he act like a child with her? He abandoned his family and daughter to run away with her. What was he after? Wasn't it just to live a good life with her?

Now things are really messed up. Fu Xiaolian ignored him for several days in a row, which made him very upset. Thinking back to the days when he was with her, even though they were poor, he was still very happy.

Now that they have money, this is how they've become.

Thinking of this, Xiao Feng became even more discouraged and quickened his pace.

At noon, Fu Xiaolian said she was going out shopping. She was still angry with Xiao Feng and refused to let him accompany her.

Helpless, Xiao Feng could only buy a few things Fu Xiaolian liked to eat before dinner, and even went to a jade shop to buy her an exquisite jade Buddha. It cost him over a thousand yuan.

Fu Xiaolian loves to dress up and eat. Xiao Feng hopes to use these traits to win her over, stop her from being angry, and allow the two of them to return to their former life.

Back home, Xiao Feng arranged several exquisite dishes on plates and placed them on the table. He even imitated the way foreigners on TV lit a candle on the table.

He carefully hid the small box containing the jade Buddha, intending to give Fu Xiaolian a surprise.

I sat on the sofa and waited for a long time, until it got dark, before I heard Fu Xiaolian take out her key and open the door.

Xiao Feng immediately greeted her with a smile, taking the small bag from her shoulder and personally helping her change into slippers.

"Honey, aren't you tired after shopping for so long? Why didn't you buy anything?"

Fu Xiaolian didn't even look at him, snorted, and went into the bedroom.

Xiao Feng called out from behind.

"I've prepared the food. Come and eat when you're done cleaning up."

As he spoke, he hung Fu Xiaolian's bag on the coat rack and returned to the sofa to wait for Fu Xiaolian to come out for dinner.

Fu Xiaolian removed her makeup, changed into a loose set of pajamas, and then leisurely walked out of the bedroom, looking extremely tired.

Xiao Feng quickly stood up, tenderly helping her sit down, muttering to himself.

"If you're not feeling well, just walk around a little less. You look exhausted, why bother?"

Fu Xiaolian rolled her eyes at him and said coldly.

"I saw a makeup class today, so I went in and learned a bit. It was pretty good. I'll be going every afternoon from now on. I might be back a little late. If you're hungry, you don't have to wait for me for dinner."

After saying that, she ignored Xiao Feng, picked up her chopsticks, and started eating the food on the table.

Xiao Feng shamelessly served Fu Xiaolian a few dishes.

"Honey, you're already so beautiful, why bother learning that? I'll love you the same whether you wear makeup or not."

Unexpectedly, upon hearing his words, Fu Xiaolian slammed her chopsticks on the table and roared.

"No matter how much I paint, isn't it all for your pathetic male pride? What right do you have to tell me what to do?"

Xiao Feng was completely stunned by her shout.

I was just saying it casually, why did you get so angry?

However, he quickly recovered and said with a smile on his face.

"Since you like it, just go every day. Of course I support you. Why are you getting angry? Look..."

Xiao Feng wanted to take out the jade Buddha he had bought at a high price to make Fu Xiaolian happy.

However, when he looked at Fu Xiaolian's fair neck, his gaze suddenly stopped there.

Fu Xiaolian wore a thick gold necklace around her neck. Xiao Feng was certain he had seen this necklace somewhere before.

It was definitely not something Fu Xiaolian bought herself, because he clearly remembered seeing Alex wearing the exact same gold necklace.

Xiao Feng's head buzzed, as if it was about to explode.

The image of Alex's large hand roaming over Fu Xiaolian's body flashed through his mind again.

The hand that had reached into its pocket to retrieve the jade Buddha froze inside.

Noticing his strange gaze, Fu Xiaolian tightened her collar somewhat awkwardly, concealing the necklace beneath her clothes.

"What are you looking at?"

She called out to Xiao Feng with some dissatisfaction.

Xiao Feng stared blankly for a long time before finally asking a question, unwilling to give up.

"Xiao Lian, where did you get your necklace?"

Upon hearing this, Fu Xiaolian jumped up like a cat whose tail had been stepped on.

"Where did it come from? Of course I bought it myself. If you wouldn't buy it for me, I could at least buy it myself."

After saying that, she threw down her chopsticks, refused to eat, and stormed back to her bedroom, slamming the door shut.

Xiao Feng sat on the sofa, stunned, as waves of anger surged through his mind, almost causing him to lose his temper.

He wanted to disregard all consequences and expose Fu Xiaolian, stripping away her hypocritical facade and revealing her to the public.

But he knew that once he did that, he would have torn down the last veil, and there would only be one outcome: forcing Fu Xiaolian to leave him as quickly as possible.

But is he willing to accept this?

I'm not reconciled. I lost everything, and this is the result I got in the end.

He pulled a bottle of baijiu (Chinese liquor) from under the table and gulped it down his throat.

The strong liquor made him cough for a long time, until tears streamed down his face, before he gradually stopped.
