Chapter 169 Deterrence

Xiao Bai was a man of few words. He and Hu Zi entered the courtyard and saw Xiao Changsuo squatting against the wall.

He stopped in his tracks, his eyes fixed on the little old man.

Xiao Changsuo also raised his head, his slightly dazed eyes filled with doubt.

Hearing the noise in the yard, Xiao Lian assumed that Xiao Mengjie had brought Gu Meiying back. He jumped out of bed angrily, ready to go out and teach them a lesson again.

But when he walked to the door carrying a stick, he saw Jiao Bai and Hu Zi coming in and was so frightened that he stumbled and almost fell to the ground.

He quickly threw down the stick and bolted the door shut.

Jiao Bai's ability to inflict excruciating pain with a mere poke had terrified him.

Jiao Bai glanced sideways at Xiao Lian's door but ignored him.

"Hey, old man, are you Xiao Changsuo?"

He raised his chin and asked a question.

Xiao Changsuo held his long pipe in his hand, blinked once, and that was his answer to the question.

Jiao Bai didn't bother arguing with him.

"Tiger Boy".

He stretched out a hand to Huzi behind him.

Tiger searched around the yard and found a whole red brick at the base of the wall. He ran back and put it in Jiao Bai's hand.

Jiao grabbed the red brick in his hand, weighed it in his hand, and walked step by step toward Xiao and Suo.

Xiao Lian, who was peeking through the crack in the door, was startled.

Holy crap, what's he trying to do? Is he trying to smash an old man to death with a brick?

Xiao Changsuo remained motionless, though his hand holding the pipe trembled slightly.

Jiao Bai walked step by step to him, slowly squatted down, and placed the red brick in his hand between the two of them.

Then, he smiled slightly at Xiao Changsuo. He raised his right hand and waved it in front of Xiao's eyes. He slowly clenched his fist, finger by finger.

Then he punched hard, slamming his fist into the middle of the red brick on the ground.

With a muffled thud, the ground beneath our feet seemed to tremble. The brick on the ground shattered instantly, most of its white, charred edges embedded in the hard soil by the immense impact.

Faced with this scene, Xiao Changsuo remained as still as a dead man, showing little reaction, except that his mouth opened slightly and a hint of panic flashed in his eyes.

Xiao Lian, on the other hand, locked himself in his room to peek.

He cursed and scrambled onto the kang (a heated brick bed), then burrowed into the quilt.

Jiao Bai blew away the brick dust stuck to his joints and stood up.

“I’m related to Gu Meiying. If anyone bullies them again, I’ll come and take a look at them.”

He touched the red brick that had been smashed into the ground with his foot, then turned around and left with Gao Hu.

Xiao Changsuo, who hadn't uttered a single word from beginning to end, stared blankly as their figures disappeared. Even now, he remained in the same squatting position against the wall.

His breathing grew heavier and heavier, and finally, like a volcano finally erupting, he threw his pipe violently in the direction where the burnt white smoke had disappeared.

"Fuck your grandma."

I don't know who he was cursing.

After uttering that curse, he collapsed to the ground like a deflated balloon, clutching his head full of white hair in his hands, and sobbed like a child who had suffered endless injustice.

On the way back, Gao Hu followed Jiao Bai with his head held high, like a victorious general returning home.

Jiao Bai's punch just now was too shocking. It showed him that a person's fist could be trained to be as powerful as a giant iron hammer.

Even a person with little strength might not be able to achieve the same effect with a real hammer.

Tiger firmly believes that as long as he studies diligently under Jiao Bai's guidance, he will be able to do it one day.

Back to Xiao Jian's courtyard.

After Gu Meiying's injuries stopped, she was much better now, and her face had regained some color.

Perhaps because she had exhausted so much energy, she no longer had the strength to make a fuss. She sat on the ground with her head tilted to the side, her eyelids drooping, muttering something under her breath.

Upon seeing Jiao Bai and Hu Zi return, Xiao Jian greeted them and asked.

"How's it going? Got it done?"

Burnt white spots.

"There shouldn't be any problems."

Tiger excitedly pulled Xiao Jian aside and told him how his master had subdued Xiao Changsuo with a single punch. This caused everyone to look at Jiao Zhaopai as if he were a monster.

"Since everything's alright, let's take Auntie over there first. We can use this extra manpower to help them tidy up the place."

Liu Ye stepped forward to make the suggestion, and everyone agreed.

Xiao Mengjie thanked everyone again and helped her mother up from the ground.

When they arrived at Liu Ye's house, Liu Ye opened the gate and returned to the small courtyard where she had lived for eighteen years.

There wasn't much furniture left in the house; everything usable had been moved by Liu Qing to Xiao Jian's place.

Fortunately, all the beds were still there, and there were two side rooms next to the kitchen on the west side. If they were cleaned up, they would be enough for the mother and daughter to live in.

Liu Ye opened her former boudoir and found several old clothes that she had worn but no longer wanted.

Gu Meiying was practically naked, with strips of clothing hanging from her body, making her an unbearable sight to behold.

Even Xiao Mengjie had no clean clothes to change into, except for the dirty clothes she was wearing.

Liu Ye's family was well-off when she was young, so even if they didn't want their old clothes, they could still go out in them.

After the men helped them set up the furniture and beds, they left.

At Hu Zi's suggestion, Jiao Bai drove the two of them to the township supply and marketing cooperative. He bought them a lot of daily necessities such as rice, flour, and cooking oil.
