Chapter 199 I Will Marry No One Else

Zhang Damao was a renowned scholar in the surrounding villages, the only one from his area to be admitted to university.

Everyone says he's a golden phoenix that flew out of a chicken coop.

Although he is almost thirty, Zhang Damao is still unmarried due to setbacks in his career.

Zhang Damao and Wei Yulan were seven or eight years apart in age, not in the same age group, and neither of them had ever paid attention to the other before.

Today, however, Zhang Damao was dressed in a clean and tidy white shirt and blue trousers, his hair neatly combed. He emerged from the thin morning mist and appeared before Wei Yulan.

Wei Yulan was stunned.

Unlike the rough and tough men he usually saw in the mountains, Zhang Damao was refined and gentle, just like those legendary top scholars who passed the imperial examinations.

Not only was he talented, but he was also handsome, which made Wei Yulan like him more and more.

I wish I could pounce on him right now, pin him to the ground, and kiss him hard a few times.

Zhang Damao staggered up the mountain and saw Wei Yulan by the roadside.

Although the two were not close, he knew a famous person like Wei Yulan from the same village.

Out of politeness, Zhang Damao smiled at her.

"Yulan, you're up so early."

Zhang Damao's smile, coupled with the phrase "Yulan, my girl," nearly made Wei Yulan's soul fly out of her body. Her entire body went limp.

"Ah, yeah, get up and take a dump."

She answered instinctively.

Zhang Damao was taken aback at first, then frowned.

He thought to himself, "Is this ugly girl out of her mind? What kind of young lady talks to people like that?"

He was too embarrassed to say anything, so he just gave an awkward smile and quickly walked past Wei Yulan.

Wei Yulan then realized she had lost her composure, and the color of her hairy, dark face changed slightly. She quickly regained her composure.

She didn't care about such trivial matters.

Her mind was completely occupied by Zhang Damao. Her eyes were fixed on Zhang Damao's back until he disappeared from sight.

Wei Yulan then let out a cry of "Oh dear!" and hurriedly disappeared into the nearby woods.

After resolving her own affairs, Wei Yulan walked home dejectedly.

Her mind was now filled with Zhang Damao's tall and imposing figure, and she had even imagined the scene of having a baby after they had sex.

As she opened the door, her father, Wei Changqing, was about to leave when the two bumped into each other. Wei Yulan's strong body nearly knocked her father to the ground.

When Wei Changqing saw his daughter like this, he thought something had happened to her, so he rushed over and grabbed her arm to ask her what was wrong.

"Hey, what's wrong so early in the morning? Did someone bully you?"

Wei Yulan first shook her head, then suddenly looked at her father with a firm gaze.

"Father, I want to marry Zhang Damao."

The sudden remark left Village Chief Wei completely bewildered.

"Ni, are you sleepwalking or talking nonsense?"

Wei Changqing placed his hand on his daughter's forehead and wiped it.

"He doesn't have a fever."

Wei Yulan tugged at her father's hand and said firmly.

"Dad, I'm not joking, I'm serious, I want to marry Zhang Damao."

Wei Changqing looked his daughter up and down for a while, and when he was sure she wasn't joking, he suddenly had a headache.

Zhang Damao knew that perfectly well.

If his daughter takes a fancy to another young man in the mountains, he would disregard the village chief's reputation, go to their house to propose marriage, and offer them many benefits; perhaps then the matter could be settled.

But who is Zhang Damao? He's the only golden phoenix to fly out of the surrounding villages.

Besides, she's a few years older than his daughter, but she's seen it all in big cities. How could she possibly be interested in someone like his daughter?

“Ni, that Zhang Damao is a college student, a top scholar, how could he possibly be interested in us mountain folk? If you want to marry, besides Zhang Damao, look at any other young man in our area, your father can find a matchmaker to propose marriage for you, but not Zhang Damao.”

Wei Changqing tried to persuade his daughter, but Wei Yulan was determined and didn't take his words to heart at all.

“Who said Brother Mao doesn’t like me? He just smiled at me and called me Yulan. I don’t care, I won’t marry anyone else in this life, I’m only going to marry Brother Mao.”

Wei Yulan stood with her hands on her hips, her expression passionate.

"Dad, if you don't agree to my request, I'll hang myself right in front of Brother Mao's house today. I'll be his man in life and in death."

As she spoke, she rushed into the house, found a rope, and headed towards Zhang Damao's house.

When Wei Changqing saw that she was serious, he hurriedly went up and hugged her, inwardly groaning.

You know your own daughter best.

He has four sons and only one daughter, who has long been spoiled by the family. She never dares to ask for anything and never gets the moon. She is the undisputed boss at home.

Wei Yulan cried and struggled, dragging her father a long way. It was clear that she couldn't be stopped.

Hearing the commotion outside, the family members, including her four older brothers and her mother, all ran out of the house.

"Girl, what's wrong with you?"

The four older brothers stepped forward one by one and together grabbed their younger sister.

The four people are named Wei Gang, Wei Qiang, Wei Yong, and Wei Meng.

Just from the name, you can tell he's not someone to be trifled with.

They were all around 1.8 meters tall, each as strong as an iron tower. With their efforts, they finally managed to pull their younger sister back.

After figuring out what had happened, her mother, Liu, thought for a long time before finally speaking to Wei Changqing.

"Old man, why don't you find a matchmaker to go and propose to them? Bring plenty of gifts, just in case their family agrees because they're poor?"
