The four strong and brave brothers returned to the village chief's courtyard with the matchmaker.
Wei Changqing and his wife, along with the unattractive woman Wei Yulan, were anxiously waiting at home.
Seeing that his four sons had carried the loads back on their shoulders, untouched, Wei Changqing understood what was going on without even asking.
It was expected, and he didn't have high hopes; it was just to fulfill his daughter's request.
Wei Yulan had been waiting at home for a long time and couldn't wait any longer. When she saw the matchmaker return, she rushed to greet her.
"Auntie, how did it go? Did Brother Mao agree?"
The matchmaker was speechless. This woman was incredibly naive. Couldn't she have just looked at the load on her brother's back to tell whether he agreed or not?
It's no wonder no one in the village wanted her; with her looks, her build, and her brains...
It would be a miracle if she could get married normally.
Before the matchmaker could speak, her four brothers threw down their loads, and the eldest brother, Wei Gang, said to Wei Yulan dejectedly.
"Girl, don't ask anymore. That family is as stubborn as a bunch of donkeys. You can't scare them even with a carrying pole. Zhang Damao absolutely refuses to agree. I've done my best."
Wei Changqing slapped his forehead and couldn't help but sigh to the heavens.
Damn it, how did we end up with such a bunch of brainless idiots? Is this something you can scare people with weapons?
Upon hearing this, Wei Yulan became unwilling.
His body, as big as a water tank, slumped to the ground with a thud.
"Impossible. Brother Mao smiled at me this morning. He clearly likes me. You just don't want us to get married. You just don't think Brother Mao is knowledgeable and better than any of you."
While talking, he was also throwing a tantrum and rolling around on the ground.
"I don't care, I just want Brother Da Mao. Go again, it must be because you spoke rudely and made Brother Da Mao angry."
In no time, he was covered in mud, his hair was disheveled, and he looked like a potato that had come to life and was undergoing nirvana on the ground.
The four strong and brave brothers looked at each other, not knowing what to do with their little sister.
Wei Gang, being the eldest brother, tentatively went up to try and pull his sister up from the ground.
"Girl, Zhang Damao is just a pretty boy, good for nothing. I can take on three of him by myself. What do you see in him? Auntie just told me she'll tell you about someone better. Get up."
When Wei Yulan saw that her elder brother dared to speak ill of her brother Mao, she went berserk. She stopped rolling on the ground, got up, and pounced on her elder brother.
"What did you say? You still want to beat up my three brothers, Da Mao? I'll scratch you to death."
As she spoke, she pounced on her older brother Wei Gang like a tigress, reaching out to scratch his face.
"I just like pretty boys like Brother Mao, so what?"
When Wei Gang saw that she had gone mad, he was already running around the yard in terror.
He was afraid of no one in the whole village when it came to fighting, except for his younger sister.
This girl has no sense of proportion and doesn't care if he's her older brother or not. If she scratches him, his face will definitely be covered in welts.
“Zhang Damao disagrees, but it’s not my fault. You crazy girl, why are you scratching me?”
Wei Gang ran around covering his head while loudly defending himself.
Seeing this, the other three brothers shrank back in fear and silently retreated to the side, clearing the battlefield.
Like their eldest brother, the only person these brothers couldn't afford to offend was their youngest sister.
Better to die than see my friend die. Brother, you'd better pray for yourself. Who told you to speak up?
Wei Changqing looked at the chaos his children had created in the yard and his face turned pale with anger.
As the head of a village, when has he ever made such a disgrace?
"That's enough, all of you stop!"
Even if he usually spoils his daughter, he can't just watch her run wild like this.
As the head of the family, his words carried a certain authority.
Wei Yulan stopped chasing after her older brother, scratching him. Looking at her father's face, her thick lips curled into a pursed expression, and tears streamed down her face like they were free.
With another thud, he fell to the ground and began to wail.
Wei Changchuang's brain was throbbing with pain from her howling.
Unable to control his own daughter, he began to vent his anger on the matchmaker.
"Sister-in-law, you promised me you'd get things done. You took my things, Wei Changqing's, and this is how you do things for me?"
He pointed to his daughter, who was lying in a mess on the ground, and questioned the matchmaker.
This old matchmaker had been a matchmaker for half her life, and with her silver tongue, she had helped countless couples get married, but she had never seen a family do things the way this one did.
She was also angry, but she had no choice but to accept the money. If she were to give it back, wouldn't all her years of life in the martial arts world have been for nothing?
She turned around and closed the Wei family's gate to prevent anyone from peeping in. She then approached Wei Changqing with a forced smile.
"Brother, don't be anxious. I've been arranging marriages for hundreds, if not thousands, of couples in my life. This is the first time I've gone to their door and failed to get things done. It's not that I'm not capable enough. They just refused to agree. We can't force them to agree in broad daylight, can we?"
She waved her handkerchief at Wei Changchuang and tiptoed forward a few steps.
“Since our daughter is determined to marry Zhang Damao, I, as an old woman, naturally have other ways. It just depends on whether you dare to do it.”
Hearing that she still had a solution, even Wei Yulan, who was throwing a tantrum on the ground, quieted down.
He stared intently at the matchmaker with his two small eyes, wondering what she would say.
"As long as it's not murder or arson, is there anything I, Wei Changqing, wouldn't dare to do on this small plot of land?"
