After the three groups of people from Yaji gathered outside the village, the first group that came in told him that they had sent Ye Xing in to inquire about information, but he had not returned yet.
Yaji checked the time; it was already 5:20 PM, and it would be dark soon.
This was all planned in advance: to arrive in the village before dark, then take care of the business under the cover of night, and then secretly lead the men away overnight.
By the time the villagers realized something was wrong the next morning and spread the word, the villagers had already left according to the route arranged by Mr. Jiang, and no one knew where they had gone.
The time has come. Although I don't know what happened to Ye Xing in the village, I can't worry about him now. At worst, I'll look for him in the neighborhood after things are done. I can't let one person delay the whole plan.
At a command, the sixteen men lowered their profiles and stealthily made their way into the village.
People in the mountains rest early, especially in this cold weather. They basically stay at home to keep warm as soon as it gets dark, and very few people go out to move around.
Although the people Yaji brought were all thugs who had been through the wringer in society, they were all people who had been trained under Mr. Jiang for many years, otherwise they would not have been sent to the mainland to do this kind of thing.
They entered the village very cautiously, without disturbing a single person.
At this moment, a middle-aged man in his forties, who had not fetched water from his home during the day, realized that his home was out of water and came out carrying buckets to fetch water.
They hadn't gone far from home when they ran into Yaji and his gang.
Suddenly seeing so many strangers in front of him, the middle-aged man was first stunned. Then he remembered the guy who had been caught by the people who lived at Wei Changqing's house during the day. He was carrying a gun. This group of people were dressed similarly to that guy, so it goes without saying that they were also carrying weapons.
He threw down the bucket and tried to run, but Yaji stopped him in a flash.
Before he could react, someone had already pressed a gun against the back of his head.
Yaji's face was expressionless, and his voice was icy cold.
"Answer my question properly, or I'll kill you."
Compared to those from Hong Kong, Yaji's mainland accent was much more standard. Although it was a bit stiff, it wasn't a problem for him to communicate.
The middle-aged man was just an ordinary mountain dweller who had never experienced anything like this before. He was so frightened that he was completely disoriented and trembling all over.
He raised his hands high, muttering to himself.
"Ask away, ask away. I won't hide a single word of what I know."
"Um."
Yaji nodded in satisfaction, narrowed his eyes, and stared at him with two cold, hawk-like gazes, asking a question.
Where does Zhang Damao live? Who are his family members?
The middle-aged man dared not hide anything and told the truth in detail.
“Zhang Damao’s house is on that hillside in front. Originally, there were only his father and mother at home, but in the afternoon they were taken to stay with his in-laws. I saw them when I was sunbathing at the door in the afternoon.”
Yaji's eyes darted around, his eyebrows raised, and he continued to ask.
"Why were they taken away? And where are his in-laws?"
"His in-laws are the village chief of our village, and his daughter is Zhang Damao's wife. This afternoon, someone came into the village looking for Zhang Damao, but was captured by a guest staying at the village chief's house."
"Oh, right."
The middle-aged man added.
"The person they caught was wearing clothes that looked a lot like yours."
Without even asking what he looked like, Yaji and his gang knew that the person who had been captured was their accomplice, Ye Xing.
Yaji cursed himself inwardly as an idiot.
He was captured by a group of mountain people.
Suddenly, it occurred to me that the person in front of me had said he was captured by a guest of the village chief.
"You just said that there were several guests staying at your village chief's house. Who were they? How many were there in total?"
He stepped forward, grabbed the middle-aged man by the collar, and asked coldly.
"I don't know who they are, I only know that there are five of them, all of them young people."
The middle-aged man was so frightened by Yaji's cold expression that he staggered backward, shaking his head frantically.
Upon hearing his words, Yaji felt a chill run down his spine and couldn't help but wonder.
Could it be that the other side was already prepared?
Logically speaking, this shouldn't be the case. He himself had secretly slipped out of the Panlong Hotel, and the people who came later had also secretly sneaked over from the port city so as not to alert Xiao Weiguo.
Could it be that Bai Huaqing leaked some information?
When the time came, he didn't have time to think too much. So what if there were five more people? His side had more than a dozen people. What was there to be afraid of?
Where does the village chief live?
The middle-aged man turned around and pointed south, saying...
"Follow this road south for about two or three hundred steps. On the east side of the road, there is a large stone courtyard. It is the most impressive courtyard in our village and is easy to spot."
Middle-aged people dare not hide anything and answer whatever they are asked.
Yaji figured he wouldn't dare lie to him, so after he finished speaking, she raised her hand and struck him hard on the back of the head.
The middle-aged man fainted without a sound, his body limp on the ground.
Two henchmen from Hong Kong dragged him to the roadside, casually covered him with some dry grass, and then left him there.
"Walk."
Yaji raised his head and led a group of people along the mountain road, quietly heading towards Wei Changqing's house.
Just as the middle-aged man had said, after walking two or three hundred steps, there was a large blue stone courtyard wall on the east side of the road, against the hillside.
The mountains have no shortage of stones, and the courtyard wall is thick and high, about three meters high.
All around was quiet and deserted. The curtain had completely fallen, the stars in the sky were shining, and the biting cold wind made the insects and birds in the mountains hide away. The entire mountain village was plunged into silence.
