Chapter 288 Tragedy

Nearly half a year has passed since the grand opening of Panlong Textile Factory.

In the 1980s, my country's main raw material for cotton spinning undoubtedly came from soft, silky cotton.

Jiaonan, located on the eastern coast of China, actively responded to national policies and vigorously promoted the widespread planting of various cash crops as early as the beginning of the reform and opening up in the 1980s.

Among them, cotton, a superior variety that can withstand both high temperatures and drought, naturally became the preferred crop for local farmers.

Looking back at 1980, at that historically significant moment, the cotton planting area on the vast land of Jiaonan had already reached an impressive 8.5 million mu!

As the wheels of time rolled forward, by the late 1980s, and especially in 1988, the cotton planting area in the Jiaonan region had expanded further, with its total area exceeding 20 million mu, making it the undisputed number one in the country and rightfully becoming the leading cotton-producing province in the country!

Panlong Textile Factory is located in the heart of the national cotton production center, a place that is practically an ocean of cotton, with an astonishingly abundant supply of raw materials! There is absolutely no need to worry about raw material shortages.

In most cases, simply purchasing cotton from several surrounding counties and cities can meet the production needs of the entire enterprise for a considerable period of time.

This method of sourcing materials locally not only significantly reduces transportation costs, but also allows for the direct acquisition of high-quality cotton from hardworking local cotton farmers at the most favorable first-hand prices.

What's even more noteworthy is that Panlong Textile has a powerful backer – Panlong Apparel.

This means that they don't need to worry about selling the fabrics they produce.

As the general manager, Xiao Jian's job was very simple and clear: to strictly follow the orders and fabric styles issued by Panlong Garments and organize workers to work overtime to produce the garments.

Whether from the perspective of production or sales channels, looking across the entire Northern region, it's hard to find another company with such unique advantages.

Given such a favorable environment, it would be impossible for Panlong Textile's economic benefits not to soar like a rocket!

Most of the factory workers come from surrounding villages and towns, and they work here on a contract basis.

These simple workers did not have high expectations or extravagant demands for wages and benefits.

As the boss, Xiao Jian has never shortchanged anyone in this regard. However, even so, compared to workers in the city, they still saved a considerable amount of money in terms of labor costs.

One important reason is that the vast majority of workers are locals. Once the work bell rings, they can go straight home and enjoy the warmth of their families.

In this way, the factory does not need to worry about accommodation and other related issues for them, which naturally reduces a lot of expenses.

The situation is different for a portion of those in middle management positions.

Due to a severe shortage of management talent in the early stages of factory construction, a group of experienced managers had to be temporarily transferred from Shang County.

Today, most of these people live in apartments within the factory specifically designed for single individuals.

However, something completely unexpected happened without warning!

In the very single apartments where those mid-level cadres lived, an extremely heinous and outrageous criminal case suddenly broke out.

Let's rewind to the late night of March 2nd. It was a deep, quiet night.

Xiao Jian and Gao Hu have been staying at the factory for several days in a row due to the heavy production tasks at the factory recently.

In that single apartment area, they were given separate rooms.

As the clock quietly slipped past 2 a.m., most people were still sound asleep.

Meanwhile, Xiao Jian and Gao Hu, fast asleep at home, were completely unaware of the nightmare that was about to unfold.

Suddenly, a group of unidentified and aggressive thugs stormed into the bachelor apartment like ghosts. A rough estimate later suggested the group consisted of approximately twenty people.

They sneaked into the factory area without anyone noticing.

These uninvited guests, upon entering the factory, went straight to the single apartments with a clear objective.

It was as if they already knew the terrain of this place by heart.

What's even more chilling is that each of them was clutching various deadly weapons, such as shotguns and steel pipes, demonstrating their ruthlessness.

Without hesitation, the leader raised his shotgun and pulled the trigger at the gatekeeper.

With a crisp gunshot piercing the night sky, the gatekeeper instantly fell into a pool of blood and died on the spot.

Immediately afterwards, this group of ruthless thugs pounced on their prey like hungry wolves, storming into the five-story single-person apartment building.

Their rough shouts and the terrifying sounds of shotguns echoed through the corridors of every floor.

As soon as they saw a figure moving about, they would raise their guns and fire without hesitation.

The innocent residents were awakened from their sleep and, faced with the sudden bloody massacre, were terrified and fled in all directions, but ultimately could not escape the clutches of these thugs.

Starting from the first floor, the rioters swept through each floor, fighting their way up to the top floor. The entire apartment building was plunged into chaos and bloodshed, a truly horrific sight.

Exhausted from many days of work, Xiao Jian slept soundly.
