Xiao Baojun had just opened his mouth to speak, but before a sound could come out of his throat, he suddenly felt someone gently touch his arm a few times.
He was startled and turned around quickly with a hint of surprise, wanting to see who had disturbed him.
As a result, what came into view was a young man who looked to be in his thirties.
Taking advantage of the fact that no one around was paying attention to their movements, the young man subtly winked and gave Xiao Baojun a meaningful look.
The young man was dressed in very ordinary clothes. He wasn't tall; in fact, he appeared rather thin and frail. At first glance, he was utterly unremarkable, with nothing particularly striking about him.
Xiao Baojun was completely baffled. Full of suspicion, he secretly pointed a finger at himself while looking at the young man with a puzzled expression, as if silently questioning him.
Is there something you need to talk to me about?
The young man nodded slightly, confirming Xiao Baojun's guess.
This made Xiao Baojun even more confused, and he pondered to himself.
He didn't know this young man at all! Why would this person approach him for no reason?
However, as the saying goes, one should be extra careful when traveling, because who knows what kind of people these strangers really are.
So, despite his curiosity, Xiao Baojun remained silent, asking no further questions and having no intention of getting too entangled with this person.
Just then, a loud shout broke the brief silence.
It turned out that the owner, who was engrossed in playing a poker machine, was shouting at the top of his lungs.
"Zhang Fan, I've run out of cigarettes, hurry up and buy me two packs!"
Upon hearing this, the young man's previously calm face instantly blossomed into a bright smile, as warm and friendly as the spring sun.
He jogged briskly up behind the middle-aged customer, bent down slightly, and asked respectfully and warmly, "Brother Liu, what kind of cigarettes would you like?"
The middle-aged customer, known as Brother Liu, stared intently at the game console screen flashing with colorful lights, his hands skillfully manipulating the joystick and buttons, seemingly completely immersed in the game world.
Without even turning his head, he casually replied, "The same as always."
The young man named Zhang Fan quickly responded.
"Okay, Brother Liu, please wait a moment."
As soon as he finished speaking, he turned around and left the arcade as quickly as if he were flying.
In the blink of an eye, his figure vanished without a trace, as if a wisp of smoke had drifted away.
Judging from his manner, he had obviously rushed off to buy cigarettes for Brother Liu.
Having witnessed this scene, Xiao Weiguo, who had been standing silently by the side, finally realized what was going on.
It turns out that this seemingly clever young man was just a nobody in the arcade, responsible for running errands for customers. His daily routine consisted of buying things like cigarettes for them.
However, thinking about this, Xiao Weiguo couldn't help but feel more and more puzzled.
After all, he had no connection with this young man named Zhang Fan, but just now, he had secretly stopped him from continuing to spend money on the game console to gain points.
Logically speaking, as an employee of the arcade, shouldn't he be trying to attract customers and get them to spend more money, thereby helping the arcade earn more profits?
Why would someone do something so unusual?
Could there be some hidden story behind this?
Filled with doubt, Xiao Baojun stood there, his brows furrowed as he pondered what had just happened.
He was somewhat conflicted about the suggestion from the person named Zhang Fan, but ultimately decided to listen to him and temporarily stay away from this seemingly tempting but actually dangerous game machine.
After careful consideration, he had to admit that this thing was essentially a form of gambling, which was extremely tempting and could easily ensnare an unsuspecting person into a state of deep addiction.
Recalling his momentary, almost bewitched impulse, Xiao Baojun couldn't help but feel a wave of fear.
Just a few minutes ago, he almost lost control of himself, eager to sit in front of the game machine and try his luck with a few rounds.
If Zhang Fan hadn't given him a timely signal and stopped him, he would probably be stuck on the little game machine right now, just like the other players around him, unable to get away.
Still shaken, Xiao Baojun took a deep breath, tried to calm his nerves, and then decided to stay at the scene to observe for a while.
He wanted to see for himself who this Zhang Fan was, who had suddenly appeared and successfully prevented him from making a mistake.
Why would they be so kind as to lend him a helping hand?
Filled with questions and curiosity, Xiao Baojun stood quietly in the corner, waiting for Zhang Fan to return.
Not long after, Zhang Fan jogged into the arcade.
He was also holding two beautifully packaged packs of Huazi cigarettes in his hand.
Then, Zhang Fan walked straight up behind the customer who was engrossed in playing a game, and said with a big smile, "Brother Liu, here's your Hua Zi!"
The guest smiled as he accepted the cigarette, a look of satisfaction in his eyes, and then said loudly.
"Thanks, Fanzi!"
Before he finished speaking, he skillfully reached into his backpack and pulled out a brand-new hundred-yuan bill.
