Xiao Baojun stretched out his right hand and gently picked up the meat skewer that the stall owner had just enthusiastically put on the table, which was emitting an enticing aroma.
He carefully brought it to his mouth, opened his mouth, and gently took a small bite.
In an instant, the unique flavor of the meat skewers exploded in my mouth—the meat skewers had a perfect ratio of lean to fat, neither too greasy nor too tender and juicy.
Each chew is accompanied by a burst of juice, with a smooth and elastic texture.
Seeing Xiao Baojun's satisfied expression, Zhang Fan, who was standing to the side, revealed a smug look on his face.
"See? I told you so! This food stall's food is really good!"
As he spoke, Zhang Fan also picked up a skewer of meat and began to eat heartily.
"Come on, brother, let's have a drink!"
Xiao Baojun picked up the ice-cold beer in front of him with a hearty laugh and gestured to Zhang Fan across from him.
Zhang Fan, quite uninhibited, deftly picked up his beer glass and went to meet him.
With a crisp clinking of glasses, the two tilted their heads back and simultaneously drank the golden liquid in their glasses in one gulp.
After putting down the cup, Zhang Fan wiped the foam from the corner of his mouth and asked Xiao Baojun with a smile.
"Hey bro, what's your name?"
After saying that, he raised his beer glass again and clinked it with Xiao Baojun's. Before Xiao Baojun could answer, he tilted his head back and gulped down the whole glass of beer.
Upon seeing this, Xiao Baojun couldn't help but secretly admire the man's high alcohol tolerance and carefree personality.
He quickly responded.
"My name is Xiao Baojun. I just heard them all call you Zhang Fan. You look older than me, so I'll respectfully call you Brother Zhang!"
It is well known that Xiao Baojun has always been an expert at drinking parties. No matter how complicated or unfamiliar the occasion, as long as he sits down and picks up a glass, he can quickly take control of the atmosphere and handle all kinds of situations with ease.
Even at a simple roadside stall like today, he was still able to fully utilize his exceptional social skills.
Zhang Fan leisurely picked up his wine glass, took a small sip of the wine, and then slowly put the glass down.
He narrowed his eyes slightly, his gaze falling on Xiao Baojun like two thin streams, a faint smile playing on his lips, and said softly.
"Brother Xiao, judging from your appearance, you must be from the mainland, right? And you haven't been in Shenzhen for long, have you? Judging from your looks, you're probably here to do business."
When Zhang Fan took the initiative to ask about his background, Xiao Baojun was taken aback at first, but quickly recovered. He laughed heartily, revealing a row of clean, white teeth, and replied.
"Haha, Brother Zhang, you have a good eye! You're absolutely right. I did come from the mainland on a business trip, and I've only been here a few days."
When it comes to business, I'm only a dabbler, barely qualifying as a half-baked businessman. But since I'm here in this esteemed place, I naturally want to learn from local experts like Brother Zhang.
"It's our first meeting, so let me offer you a toast, Brother Zhang. I hope you'll take good care of me in the future!"
As he spoke, Xiao Baojun quickly raised his glass, gestured to Zhang Fan, and then tilted his head back to drink it all in one gulp.
Zhang Fan's lips curled up slightly, revealing a faint smile, and he said softly.
"As for taking care of me, I really don't deserve it! Look at me now, I'm just a nobody who runs errands for others. But, this toast from you is definitely worth it."
Upon hearing Zhang Fan's words, Xiao Baojun raised an eyebrow, a sly glint in his eyes, and asked the question knowingly.
"Oh? What makes you say that?"
Zhang Fan seemed to have anticipated this question, and didn't seem to care at all, answering directly.
"Just now in that arcade, if I hadn't helped you, you would probably be in big trouble right now. So, it's true that I saved you."
Upon hearing this, Xiao Baojun smiled dismissively, gently fiddling with his wine glass, and responded with a hint of mockery.
"Haha, Brother Zhang, you're joking. You did stop me from taking this gamble, but isn't using the word 'save' a bit of an exaggeration?"
"It's just a few thousand yuan; it's not like I, Xiao, can't afford it."
Zhang Fan chuckled, slowly picked up a bright green leaf from the plate, and began to chew it slowly.
He spoke slowly as he ate.
"If Brother Xiao only thinks that I just saved you a few thousand dollars, then our drinking session today will really be tasteless."
"What do you mean? I am ignorant and would appreciate your guidance, Brother Zhang."
Xiao Baojun looked at Zhang Fan with a puzzled expression, pondering to himself.
In his view, Zhang Fan had genuinely helped him.
After all, gambling is a well-known fact – nine out of ten gamblers lose!
Especially in someone else's arcade, how could you possibly gain an advantage?
If everyone could win money here, wouldn't this arcade be doing charity?
But that's all there is to it. Even if you lose, you can just not come here again next time.
Anyway, Xiao Baojun was still able to afford the loss of the little money he had in his pocket.
However, to Xiao Baojun's surprise, Zhang Fan slowly shook his head, a meaningful smile appearing on his lips, and chuckled as he spoke.
