Chapter 452 Reunion

The car drove steadily back to the quaint courtyard house, the tires making a soft rustling sound as they rolled over the pebbles on the ground.

Xiao Weiguo gently pushed open the car door and slowly got out.

He habitually glanced at his watch; the hands on the Rolex dial moved at a leisurely pace.

It has been about an hour and a half since I left home and returned.

He squinted slightly, thinking to himself that the family must have finished their conversation after an hour and a half.

Perhaps they have already spoken their unspoken thoughts. Can those long-standing conflicts be resolved in just an hour and a half?

Just as Xiao Weiguo was about to step into the courtyard house, a familiar car engine sound came from afar.

He turned his head and saw his impressive Crown car slowly approaching.

The car's body gleamed, shimmering with a captivating luster in the sunlight, resembling a majestic and awe-inspiring beast.

With a crisp "screech" of brakes, Jiao Bai brought the Crown to a steady stop on the side of the road.

Jiao Bai quickly pushed open the car door and stepped out briskly. He was dressed in neat casual clothes and looked very energetic. As soon as he got out of the car, he immediately greeted Xiao Weiguo enthusiastically.

"elder brother!"

The voice was loud and energetic, echoing on the path outside the courtyard.

Xiao Weiguo stood with his hands in his pockets, a faint smile on his face, watching Jiao Bai approach step by step.

His eyes revealed a calmness and confidence, as if everything was under his control.

He only slowly opened his mouth and asked when Jiao Bai walked up to him.

"How's it going?"

Jiao Bai's lips curled up slightly, revealing a mysterious smile.

He paused deliberately for a moment before slowly extending his hand to give Xiao Weiguo an OK sign.

The gesture was executed perfectly, as if to announce to Xiao Weiguo that the mission had been completed flawlessly.

Xiao Weiguo nodded in satisfaction, a hint of approval in his eyes.

He reached out and gently put his arm around Jiao Bai's shoulder, a gesture that was natural and affectionate, just like treating his own brother.

"Let's go see how they are doing."

Led by Xiao Weiguo and Jiao Bai, they were surrounded by a group of people.

Everyone wore expectant expressions, seemingly eager to know how the family was doing.

They walked step by step along the path of the courtyard house, their footsteps echoing in the quiet courtyard, as if playing an unknown melody.

In that tranquil courtyard, a gentle breeze rustled through the flowers and plants.

Xiao Feng and his family of three remained quietly there, as if time had slowed down at that moment.

Although they had had many conflicts and misunderstandings before, the atmosphere that was originally as tense as a bowstring has now become much more harmonious, as if the ice in winter is slowly melting away.

Gu Meiying stood with her back to Xiao Feng and Xiao Mengjie. She raised her head slightly, her eyes somewhat unfocused, as if she were recalling the past, or as if she had mustered up her courage and was slowly speaking the words that had been hidden in her heart for a long time.

Her voice wasn't loud, but it carried an undeniable firmness. Every word seemed to be squeezed out from the depths of her heart, filled with complex emotions—grievances, expectations, and longing for the future.

Xiao Feng sat quietly on the stone bench opposite him, his head slightly lowered, his eyes downcast, looking meek and submissive.

Time had etched deep wrinkles on his face, and at this moment his expression was particularly focused. He nodded slightly from time to time, as if he was listening carefully to every word Gu Meiying said, or as if he was silently reflecting on his past behavior.

His hands were awkwardly folded on his lap, occasionally clenching unconsciously, as if he were secretly making a decision to make changes for this family.

Xiao Mengjie, sitting obediently on one side, was like a budding flower in the yard, full of vitality and life.

Her big, watery eyes were like two bright black gems, so lively and expressive. They kept darting between her parents, curiously capturing every subtle expression and movement between them.

Her smooth little face was like a ripe apple, with a faint blush, and she would occasionally reveal a slight smile.

That smile was like the spring sunshine, warm and radiant, as if she were happy about the gradually improving relationship between her parents.

Standing not far away, Xiao Weiguo took in the entire harmonious scene.

A hint of relief appeared in his eyes, and he understood that they had probably cleared up the conflicts and misunderstandings between them.

He seemed to see the future unfold before his eyes: this home, which had been somewhat torn apart by arguments and conflicts, was about to become a happy and harmonious family again.

This is exactly the scene Xiao Weiguo wanted to see, after all, family harmony has always been his greatest hope.

To break the somewhat quiet atmosphere and to get their attention, Xiao Weiguo deliberately coughed.

The cough was particularly clear in the quiet courtyard, immediately attracting their attention.

Xiao Feng and Gu Meiying turned around at the same time, and Xiao Mengjie also stood up from her seat. Their eyes all turned to Xiao Weiguo.

Gu Meiying was lost in her thoughts when she glanced up and was surprised to find a large group of people had already entered the courtyard.

Their footsteps and laughter mingled together, like a sudden wave, breaking her momentary tranquility.
