Chapter 467 He Ye's Letter

Once outside, Xiao Weiguo stood at the doorway, looking around as if searching for someone.

However, his gaze swept around, but he did not see Jiao Bai's figure.

"Hey kid, where did you go during mealtime?"

Xiao Weiguo muttered to himself, a look of doubt on his face. As he thought about it, he shouted out loud.

"Burned white!"

The shout echoed loudly in the empty street.

However, there was no response from Jiao Bai. Xiao Weiguo couldn't help but wonder, where on earth had this kid gone?

Just as he was about to shout again, he suddenly heard a slight noise from the side.

He turned his head and saw that the leaves of the big willow tree next to him were being forcefully pried open, making a "scratching" sound.

Immediately afterwards, a head poked out from between the leaves; it was Jiao Bai.

"Brother, what's wrong?"

Jiao Bai's voice came from the tree, tinged with surprise.

Xiao Weiguo was startled by his sudden appearance. He looked up and saw Jiao Bai hiding in a tree, seemingly holding a few pages of letter paper in his hand.

He couldn't help but get angry and said, "You monkey, what are you doing up there on such a hot day?"

Jiao Bai smiled dismissively and said...

"It's so cool up here, the breeze is so refreshing. Why don't you come up and give it a try?"

His tone revealed a hint of pride, as if he were showing off the summer resort he had found.

In summer, trees are indeed a good place to escape the heat. Xiao Weiguo often secretly climbed trees to cool off when he was a child.

However, he can't help but wonder: with his current physical condition, can he still climb trees as easily as before?

"Come down here, dinner's ready!" Xiao Weiguo called out impatiently.

"Okay, brother!"

Before he finished speaking, Jiao Bai, like a nimble monkey, quickly twisted his body and jumped down from the tree with a whoosh, standing steadily in front of Xiao Weiguo in the blink of an eye.

Seeing this, Xiao Weiguo casually asked.

"Whose letter is it?"

Jiao Bai then realized, as if waking from a dream, that he hadn't put the letter away yet. His expression instantly turned somewhat unnatural, and he hurriedly hid the letter behind his back, stammering an explanation.

"Hehe, brother, it's nothing...it's nothing, it's just a friend's letter, nothing special."

Xiao Weiguo and Jiao Bai had known each other for a long time and were very familiar with each other's temperaments.

Seeing Jiao Bai's slightly flustered expression and unnatural movements, Xiao Weiguo immediately understood that this letter was definitely not as simple as a letter between ordinary friends.

"Hey, look at this! It's clearly a love letter! Come on, let me guess which beauty wrote it for our little Bai!"

Xiao Weiguo had a mocking smile on his lips, one hand supporting his chin as he looked Jiao Bai up and down with great interest, as if he already knew everything.

Upon hearing Xiao Weiguo's words, Jiao Bai's face instantly turned bright red, like a ripe apple, with even the roots of his ears blushing.

He seemed a little flustered, unsure of what to do with his hands, fidgeting with the hem of his clothes one moment and touching his hair the next, completely at a loss.

Seeing this, Xiao Weiguo became even more certain of his guess, and he deliberately teased him.

"I bet this letter was written by He Ye! Last time in Shanghai, you really showed off your skills, didn't you? That hero-saves-the-damsel-in-distress act completely captivated that young lady!"

Xiao Weiguo's words struck Jiao Bai like a heavy hammer, making his face turn even more pale and causing him to stammer.

"Brother...you...you're talking nonsense. Liu Ye and I are just ordinary friends. It's not as exaggerated as you're making it out to be! If you don't believe me, look at this letter for yourself..."

As he spoke, Jiao Bai, as if grasping at a straw, hurriedly handed the letter in his hand to Xiao Weiguo, as if this could prove that his relationship with He Ye was innocent.

However, why should Xiao Weiguo bother to read such a letter?

He knew perfectly well that He Ye was simply praising Jiao Bai in the letter and chatting about some trivial matters in daily life.

After all, he had also been through that naive age, so he naturally understood the thoughts of these young girls all too well.

He looked at Jiao Bai with disdain and said with a disappointed expression.

“Brother, you’re not a kid anymore, how can you be so clueless? What do you need the girl to say before you understand her feelings? Does she have to tell you herself, ‘Jiao Bai, I love you, I want to marry you,’ before you’ll suddenly realize it?”

When he said the last few words, Xiao Weiguo deliberately made a delicate gesture with his fingers and even imitated a woman's tone, asking Jiao Bai a question in a coquettish voice.

In fact, back when they were still in Shanghai, Xiao Weiguo had already seen through He Ye's intentions perfectly.

After all, the idea that beautiful women love heroes is a very common trope, and there's nothing surprising about it.

It's a pity that my brother, although a genius, even a prodigy, in martial arts, is a complete blockhead when it comes to love, utterly clueless.

He Ye has been hinting at her love for him so frequently, but he's like a wooden doll, completely clueless about how to respond.
