Chapter 49 Xiao Changsuo with No Way Out

"You all agreed to buy the socks in the first place, so now that they can't be sold, can you blame me for it all?"

"If it's not your fault, who is? You were the one who collected all the socks; we didn't even touch them."

The eldest daughter-in-law, Gu Meiying, wailed and retorted.

The second son's wife was equally relentless, coming up and pointing at his old face while yelling.

"Old man, you've made our family spend eight or nine thousand yuan all at once. That's all our savings! And there's the money we borrowed. What do you say we do about it?"

The old man got angry from being scolded and angrily threw his cigarette butt on the ground.

"You even said that if it weren't for your husband's terrible idea, our family wouldn't be in this situation."

Fu Xiaolian sneered.

"Ha, you're saying this now? In this family, you've always been the one making the decisions. No matter how much my husband has an idea, if you don't agree, can this thing get done?"

The whole family was wailing and howling. If it weren't for Xiao Changsuo's advanced age, someone would probably have jumped out and torn his face off.

"Alright, stop fucking howling."

Xiao Changsuo's head was throbbing from the noise, and he couldn't help but roar in anger.

"Tomorrow, just tomorrow, give me one day, I'll sell all the socks and pay you back, okay?"

"You haven't sold any in two months, and you think you can sell them all in one day? Are you kidding me?"

These people didn't believe him at all, and they kept pressing him relentlessly.

"Believe it or not, I'm broke right now. Why don't you just kill me?"

Xiao Changsuo, having lost all sense of shame, resorted to shameless behavior on the spot.

"A shameless person is invincible." After he said that, everyone was at a loss for words.

Their goal is to get money. The old man has no money now, but he can take your life. What can you do?

In the end, everyone had to compromise.

"Fine, I'll give you one day. We'll be back tomorrow night. If you still can't come up with the money, we'll tear your house down."

The group gradually dispersed, and even the eldest daughter-in-law, Gu Meiying, who was sitting on the ground, dusted herself off, got up, and went back to her own room.

They left Xiao Changsuo alone on the spot.

Xiao Changsuo lit another cigarette and squatted down to think.

So, who can he sell the socks to? What everyone said earlier is right. He only sold a few hundred pairs in two months. In a single day, he could sell forty or fifty thousand pairs of socks. He couldn't sell them even if he worked himself to death.

After much deliberation, considering everyone involved, the only person with a large sum of cash who could afford to buy this batch of socks was Xiao Weiguo.

As for the hatred with Xiao Weiguo, at this point, do we still have time to care?

If I can't pay this money back by tomorrow, I'm afraid I won't even be able to get back home and will have to go begging in other places.

At this time, there was no such thing as a deadbeat; if someone borrowed money and didn't repay it, they would be unable to hold their head up in front of others.

Otherwise, even with such lenient government policies for lending, no one would dare to borrow.

I'll risk losing face if I have to get Xiao Weiguo to buy this batch of socks.

Having made up his mind, Xiao Changsuo got up in the middle of the night, hitched up the donkey cart, packed all his socks, and headed towards the county town.

When he arrived in the county town, it was just dawn. Knowing that Liu Ye and Xiao Shanshan were studying at the No. 1 Middle School, he asked around and actually found the courtyard where Xiao Weiguo was renting.

In the morning, Xiao Weiguo ate breakfast, took the blueprints he had been working on for half the night, and prepared to go to the factory to show them to the design department so that they could produce the cutting pattern as soon as possible and put it into production.

He had just come out and hadn't even gotten on his bicycle when he heard someone calling him.

"Xiao Weiguo, stop right there."

Xiao Weiguo stopped and saw an old man squatting in the corner with a donkey cart tied to him.

It turned out that Xiao Changsuo had arrived long ago, but he was too embarrassed to knock on the door, so he could only squat there and wait for Xiao Weiguo to come out.

Xiao Weiguo carefully examined the man for a while before he could recognize him as Xiao Changsuo. He couldn't help but frown.

This old guy is always trying to trip me up behind my back. He hates Xiao Weiguo to death. How did he end up here?

What are you doing here?

Xiao Changsuo stood up from the ground, took out a pack of cigarettes, and offered one to Xiao Weiguo.

Xiao Weiguo waved his hand and took out his own Hongtashan cigarettes.

"Did you need something?"

Xiao Changsuo's old face trembled a few times as he forced a smile.

"Weiguo, I've wronged you before, but you're a person of status now. Please don't hold it against me, okay?"

He had to lower his stance because he needed Xiao Weiguo's help, even though he secretly hated him to the core. However, he was powerless to do anything about it.

Upon hearing this, Xiao Weiguo lit a cigarette, took a puff, and glanced at the donkey cart. He already understood somewhat of what was going on.

These are socks that aren't selling well, and I'd like to sell them to him.

Hmph, old man, if I don't skin you alive today, I, Xiao Weiguo, will have lived this second life in vain.

"If you came here specifically to apologize to me, then I understand. That's all, I have to go to work now."

Xiao Weiguo made a move to leave, but Xiao Changsuo quickly stopped him.

"Wait, wait, Weiguo, don't be in such a hurry. It won't take long. I still have something to tell you."

"What do you want to say? I'm listening."

Xiao Weiguo pretended to be stupid and stopped to look at Xiao Changsuo.

"Hey Weiguo, you're the expert at selling socks, but I'm too old to sell them anymore. Look at these socks of mine, could you take them and sell them?"

After listening, Xiao Weiguo pushed his cart and left.

Xiao Changsuo grabbed his bicycle handlebars.

"Weiguo, I won't make a single penny off you. I'll sell it back to you at the same price I bought it from. Is that alright?"

Xiao Weiguo chuckled.
