Xiao Weiguo stopped his bicycle and waited for Zhou Ruolan to catch up from behind.
Zhou Ruolan's home should also be in the county town.
She pushed her bicycle and walked side by side with Xiao Wei.
"Is there something you need, Teacher Zhou?"
Xiao Weiguo's tone was cold. He was a little angry about his younger brother being beaten and the school's inaction.
"Xiao Weiguo, I'm sorry. I'm very sorry for what happened today. I tried to stop Yu Qiang's mother from hitting Xiao Jiang, but I couldn't stop the two of them."
Zhou Ruolan took the initiative to explain to him, which calmed Xiao Weiguo down a little.
"Thank you, Teacher Zhou. If something like this happens again, please call me immediately."
Zhou Ruolan nodded.
“Xiao Weiguo, although today’s events are not Xiao Jiang and Xiao Yue’s fault, I have objections to the way you handled things just now.”
Xiao Weiguo paused, his expression faltering, and stopped in his tracks.
He turned to look at Zhou Ruolan. His lips were pressed tightly together, and he didn't say anything.
Zhou Ruolan felt a little flustered under his gaze. She quickly said, "Just now you taught Xiao Jiang to solve problems in such a violent way. Aren't you afraid it will have a negative impact on his life in the future?"
Xiao Weiguo's gaze remained fixed on Zhou Ruolan. After a long while, he slowly turned his head, pushing the cart forward as he spoke. "Teacher Zhou, let me tell you about my family!"
“When I was fourteen, our parents passed away. At that time, Xiao Jiang and Xiao Yue were only four years old. As the eldest son, I was ignorant and the burden of the family fell on my younger sister.”
“Back then, she had to work in the fields and take care of the two of them at the same time, so she couldn’t manage it all. Therefore, Xiao Jiang and Jiang Yue were sensible from a young age, and even if they were bullied outside, they wouldn’t dare to say anything when they came home.”
"Because they know that even if they speak up, no one will stand up for them or back them up."
“Such a life experience can easily make a person's character weak. Today, I am very gratified that Xiao Jiang was able to stand up and help his sister. This shows that he has overcome his weakness. The reason I stood up for him is to tell him not to be afraid. He has a family behind him and I, his brother.”
There's no profound reasoning behind it; it's just the thought of every normal person in an ordinary family.
But in their home, it has a slightly different meaning.
Zhou Ruolan listened silently, occasionally glancing up at Xiao Weiguo and his two younger siblings.
After Xiao Weiguo finished speaking, she sighed softly.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know your family was in this situation."
Now she understood what Xiao Weiguo meant when he said, "Your older brother will always be there for you, do you understand?"
This will affect Xiao Jiang and Xiao Yue's entire lives.
In the future, no matter how great the storms they face, this sentence will be their lifelong source of confidence.
They will no longer have their lives overshadowed by the lack of parental care.
As soon as I arrived at the school gate, I saw Grandma Liu waiting for her child to get out of school with her little feet up.
She saw Xiao Weiguo drive out with two children. She raised her hand to greet him.
"Weiguo, Grandma is here. How come you have time to pick them up?"
Xiao Weiguo responded and turned to say goodbye to Zhou Ruolan.
"See you later!"
At this moment, the old lady saw the handprint on Xiao Jiang's face. She immediately ran over, touched Xiao Jiang's little face, and kept asking, "What happened? Who hit you? Tell Grandma quickly."
Not wanting the old woman to worry, Xiao Weiguo smiled and said, "Grandma, it's nothing. It was just a children's fight, I've taken care of it all."
"Was this done by a child?"
The old lady wasn't stupid; she could tell at a glance that the mark on Xiao Jiang's face wasn't a child's handprint.
Xiao Weiguo smiled wryly; this old lady was really hard to fool.
Xiao Yue, however, was quick to speak; she turned around from the crossbeam in front of her.
"Grandma, a crazy woman just beat up Third Brother, but Eldest Brother has already avenged us and fought them all back."
The old lady hugged Xiao Jiang tightly, tears welling up in her eyes.
The old man truly loves the child.
“What kind of people are they? They even hit such young children. It’s all your godfather’s fault. He acts all high and mighty all day long, but he doesn’t care when his own son and daughter are being bullied. You wait, I’ll never let him get away with this.”
Xiao Weiguo was dumbfounded. How could everything be linked to Liu Changhe? Faced with such a doting mother, Xiao Weiguo could only silently wish him well.
There was nothing much to do in the afternoon; everything that needed to be arranged had been taken care of. With Wang Xiuhong around, he didn't need to worry about any problems arising at the factory.
Xiao Weiguo decided to take a break. He had been too busy lately and hadn't had a proper meal with his younger siblings in a long time.
After buying a lot of meat, vegetables, and some seafood on the street, Xiao Weiguo decided to cook a delicious meal for everyone that evening.
Xiao Weiguo busied himself in the kitchen, making a racket, and soon an enticing aroma filled the air.
Liu Ye and Shan Shan came home from school, arm in arm, chatting and laughing as they entered the courtyard.
Smelling the aroma of food from the kitchen, the two girls quickly peeked inside and saw Xiao Weiguo cooking.
"Wow, the chairman is cooking himself, we're in for a treat today."
Liu Ye teased him with a smile, which made Shan Shan giggle.
"What's the use of being the chairman? I bet he'll be henpecked sooner or later. Sigh, I really envy someone. With my older brother's cooking skills, someone's bound to get fattened up like a little pig."
Liu Ye turned around and was about to pinch her.
"What, did I stop your older brother from feeding you? I think you'll eat yourself into a pig and never get married."
Watching the two joking around, Xiao Weiguo chuckled foolishly.
"Go wash your hands quickly. We'll eat after Grandma picks up Xiao Jiang and the others."
