Military Hospital
Chen Yun refused Chi Yan's offer to accompany her. She didn't want to be treated like a show of force on her first day at work. She came to the military hospital for two reasons: one was to practice medicine and hone her medical skills, and the other was to get closer to reality and obtain more accurate data.
"You are Professor Shen Yun, right? I am the director of the military hospital. My last name is Tian. You can call me Director Tian."
"Hello, Dean Tian! I'm Chen Yun."
Shen Yun looked at Dean Tian in front of him. He was so blessed! His round figure and round head made him look round and plump.
"Heroes emerge from youth. The ancients were absolutely right. When I first met Professor Shen, I was immediately filled with shame."
The compliments flowed from his mouth with a natural warmth that didn't make anyone feel awkward or uncomfortable. He was adept at dealing with people, and as expected of a seasoned public servant, he exuded a unique aura.
"It's not as exaggerated as you say. Which department am I assigned to?"
Shen Yun looked at Dean Tian. Which department was she assigned to and which director was she working under?
"You're truly a resolute and decisive person. Li Changfeng explained the situation to me. Knowing you wanted to research blood cancer, I assigned you to the Hematology Department."
Hematology is the department with the best access to patients, their symptoms, and a more direct understanding of blood-related issues. It is a branch of internal medicine that primarily treats issues related to the hematopoietic system. Examples include common red blood cell disorders such as anemia, iron deficiency anemia, aplastic anemia, and dyserythropoiesis. White blood cell disorders include leukopenia, neutropenia, acute leukemia, and acute myeloid leukemia.
"Yeah, I have no problem with that."
Shen Yun nodded. These were exactly the areas she needed to research. Having these patients, symptoms, and data, compared to her own experiments, was the key. Once she felt she had it right, she would be completely confident she could prescribe the right treatment.
"Okay, the hematology department is on the fifth floor. I'll take you there!"
After a moment's thought, the director stopped his assistant from wanting to lead the way. It would be best if he went along, as Chen Yun was still unfamiliar with the hospital. He needed to be given clear instructions. They were important figures, so they needed to be treated with caution. The military commander had already called him, and if he didn't make the right arrangements, he wouldn't be able to complete his mission.
"Okay... With Dean Tian taking care of me, I can feel more at ease." Shen Yun said with a smile.
A fleeting smile passed, and Chen Yun tried hard to keep a straight face. There was no other way. Age didn't make up for the lack of dignity, so he could only try to be more calm and composed, so that he could appear more trustworthy to his patients. You know, nowadays, it's generally accepted that older people have better medical skills.
"There's a cafeteria over here at the hospital. With your work ID, you can eat there. The hospital is fully equipped with all the necessary labs. I'll arrange for a nurse to show you around the hospital later. Feel free to let me know if you need anything in the future. Do you plan to stay in the hospital's family building or at home?"
"I don't live in the staff housing and I commute to get off work by myself. By the way, can I have a key to the lab?"
Shen Yun's eyes lit up when she heard the word "laboratory." This was the only thing she cared about. If possible, she would rather be in the lab. The lab didn't require interacting with people. She hated socializing the most. It always felt off-kilter, and she didn't want to waste time on it.
"Of course you can, Xiao Wu, give the key to Professor Shen."
"Okay. Only a few old professors have taken the keys to the hospital laboratories. There are still keys to five laboratories. Professor Shen, if you need anything, you can tell me. Whether it's equipment or instruments, you can apply to me."
"Yes, yes, yes, Professor Shen, this is my assistant, Xiao Wu. From now on, please keep in touch. No matter what you need, whether it's materials, equipment, instruments, or even personnel, I can provide you with all of them."
"Okay, thank you, Dean Tian." This time, it was sincere.
"We're here..."
“This is the hematology department.”
They quickly reached the fifth floor. Dean Tian looked at the doctors waiting at the door and was quite satisfied. It seemed that the previous reminder had made them take it seriously.
"Come, let me introduce you. This is Director Yang Yi, the backbone of our military hospital, a postdoctoral fellow who has returned from overseas."
“This is Deputy Director Shen, and this is Professor Chen, Doctor Bai, and Doctor Hu.”
Aside from Director Yang Yi, who was the main focus of the introduction, the others were briefly introduced. Compared to Shen Yun's indifference, the professors and doctors were all surprised. They didn't understand why the person before them was so highly regarded by the dean. Was it because of his powerful connections or genuine ability? Everyone couldn't help but look at Yang Yi, wondering what their dean was thinking.
"I don't need quacks here, nor do I need people who come here to fool patients."
Yang Yi looked at Dean Tian, but the words he spoke were extremely vicious.
"Yang Yi...you..."
Dean Tian was so angry that he was shaking. He had never expected the man before him to give Shen Yun such a show of force. Hadn't he warned this young man before? He had thrown all the social etiquette into the sea.
He turned his head and looked at Shen Yun, his face couldn't help but panic. If the leaders above knew about this, he would be in trouble if he failed to do his job well! When Dean Tian thought of this, he wanted to eat Yang Yi in front of him alive. How much he valued him before, how much he hated him now.
"It's okay. The way to prove it is actually very simple. Just spend some time with each other and you will know who is a mediocre doctor and who is a miracle doctor."
Shen Yun waved her hand. She had already prepared for this. She had considered it carefully before coming here. There would definitely be people who would question her level and her ability. No matter how much she said, it would not be as good as the results she produced. People would see clearly that she was not a quack. She had her own pride.
"Tian Tian, take Professor Shen around and tell her about the hospital's situation. Yang Yi, go to the office and wait. The rest of you can go back and do what you need to do."
Dean Tian nodded at his daughter, who was watching the fun nearby. Don't think he doesn't know his daughter's little thoughts. If his daughter can get closer to this person and learn a little bit, he can rest in peace for the rest of his life.
"I……"
Tian Tian was dumbfounded and never thought that instead of watching the fun, she would get into trouble herself. Forced to do nothing, she could only stand up and accept the order.
"Yes...it's you. Don't just stand there. Hurry up and show Professor Shen around. You've been in the Hematology Department for such a long time, you must be familiar with every place. Once you have figured it out, take the professor to the laboratory. The professor has the key." Pulling Tian Tian aside, Professor Tian gave her a few instructions.
