Yun Yongcheng woke up and heard some noise in the kitchen. He went to the kitchen and saw his parents plucking chicken feathers.
The chicken feathers have almost been stripped off, and the beige chicken meat is right in front of you, looking fat and tender, and very tempting.
Having just woken up and feeling a little hungry, Yun Yongcheng couldn't help swallowing his saliva as he looked at the plump chicken.
Thinking that he could have a whole chicken dinner tonight, Yun Yongcheng suddenly felt elated.
"Mom and Dad, where did this pheasant come from?"
Mei Cuiping raised her eyelids and glanced at her son.
"Mianmian wanted to eat meat, and this pheasant fell from the sky while flying. This is the ration given to Mianmian by God. You and your father don't have to worry about it."
Yun Aiguo looked at his son with sympathy.
"Don't worry about the chicken, father and I. The chicken butt and offal are for father and son. Mianmian is small and in the growth stage, so your mother wants to give her some nutrition. Please be considerate."
Mei Cuiping: "Vegetables and radishes nourish us, and chicken offal is also meat."
Yun Yongcheng: “…”
When it was time to cook, Mei Cuiping chopped the whole chicken into pieces, stir-fried it in a pan, and after drying up the moisture, she added two spoonfuls of salt.
The weather is hot and meat is easy to spoil. Adding more salt and stir-frying it can help it be stored for a few more days. This is how people in the countryside preserve meat.
Yun Aiguo and his son watched as Mei Cuiping took most of the golden-fried chicken out of the pot, leaving only a chicken leg and a few pieces of chicken in the pot, and then added half a bucket of water to stew it.
Mei Cuiping planned to give the chicken to Yunmian alone. She would take a few pieces of chicken and add half a bucket of water to stew it into a bowl of chicken soup. In this way, one chicken would be enough for Yunmian to eat for several days.
The aroma of chicken soup filled the yard, and Yunmian was awakened by the fragrance.
She woke up feeling a little dazed. She stared at the ceiling covered with spider webs for a moment before she remembered that she had accompanied her grandparents to irrigate the rice fields.
Her grandparents have taken her home.
Yunmian rubbed her eyes and sat up happily from the bed, intending to get out of bed to find her grandparents. The aroma of chicken soup wafted into her nose.
The aroma of chicken soup! Did grandma kill the chicken at home?
Yun Mian slid off the bed on her short legs, put on her slippers and ran to the kitchen.
Dinner was ready. Mei Cuiping was setting the table when she saw a dazed little thing with rosy cheeks standing at the door. She immediately put the bowl and chopsticks on the wooden table and waved at the door with a kind smile: "My dear granddaughter, you've woken up. Come in and wash your face. It's time for dinner."
When Yun Mian saw the chicken soup on the table, the corners of her mouth twitched slightly.
"Grandma, did you kill the chickens at home?"
Seeing the distressed look on the little girl's face, Mei Cuiping quickly said, "This is a pheasant. You were mumbling about wanting meat in the field, and this pheasant fell from the sky while flying. This is the meat God has gifted us."
When did it happen? How come she doesn't know?
Seeing her bewildered face, Mei Cuiping added, "You were asleep at the time, and you were mumbling in your dream."
Yunmian looked down at the scales hidden under his collar.
Could it be that the stinky unicorn brought me good luck again?
Since the auspicious aura of the stinking unicorn is so useful, why not ask my dad to take me to the Goddess Mountain to try it out someday? Maybe I can even bring back a wild boar.
While eating, Yunmian glanced at the white flour buns and chicken drumsticks in her own bowl, then at the multi-grain buns, vegetables, and radishes in her grandparents' and dad's bowls...
What a difference!
"Grandma, didn't you say you picked up a whole chicken? Why am I the only one eating the chicken?"
Yun Mian felt a little uncomfortable when she thought that her grandma had specially saved the chicken for her.
"Who said we don't have meat to eat? Chicken butts aren't meat, and chicken giblets aren't meat! Your grandfather and father like to eat chicken butts and chicken giblets, not chicken meat."
Mei Cuiping secretly winked at her husband and son.
"Isn't it?"
