In the countryside in the 1980s and 1990s, every household did not have a dedicated bathroom. The washbasin rack was placed in the kitchen, and people had to go to the kitchen to wash after getting up in the morning.
Yunmian followed her grandmother to the kitchen with six firecrackers on her head. When she walked out of the small room, she met her father who came out from the next room.
Yun Yongcheng stared at the little girl with two big bows on her head and was stunned.
Seeing the expression on dad's face that looked like he wanted to poke his own eyes out, Yun Mian shrugged her round little shoulders innocently and told dad with her eyes.
My grandma gave me the injection!
"Mom, why did you dress Mianmian like this?"
"Isn't this nice?"
Yunmian saw that her father was immediately given a cold shoulder by her grandmother.
Yun Yongcheng: "Mianmian has a small head, and the two bows you tied are bigger than her head. The six braids pointing to the sky look like six rockets."
Oh, oh, oh, Dad, you said what the baby is thinking.
Yunmian agreed with what his father said very much.
"You're a grown man, but you don't know shit. You don't have to go to work today, so go chop the firewood piled in the yard. Our sows are giving birth, and we'll need firewood to cook pig food in the future."
"Mianmian, ignore your dad. Come on, grandma will take you to the kitchen to fry eggs."
Seeing dad standing there in a daze with a look of disfavor on his face, Yun Mian looked at him with sympathy, and followed grandma into the kitchen with a rocket-like hair.
Grandpa lit the fire while grandma cooked rice and pig food at the same time.
There are three iron pots at home. The smallest one is used for cooking, the middle one is used for frying vegetables, and the largest one on the side is used to cook pig food.
This is the design of all earthen stoves in the countryside.
Yunmian sat on the bench next to the dining table, swinging her short legs as she watched her grandparents busying around.
While cooking, Mei Cuiping took an egg and prepared to beat it.
Yun Aiguo raised his head from the stove and glanced at her.
"Her grandma, didn't you just pick up two eggs?"
Mei Cuiping's plan was to fight one this morning and save one for fight at noon.
Before she could respond, her husband spoke again: "The eggs are so small, one isn't even enough to fill our stomachs. Let's break two. Since the hen has started laying again, she will surely lay dozens of eggs in a row before stopping."
Mei Cuiping felt that what her husband said made sense, so she turned around and went to the cupboard to take out another egg.
Watching grandma beat two eggs in a bowl and cut a handful of green onions to prepare scrambled eggs, Yun Mian tenderly said, "Grandma, can you make green onion egg soup? Green onion egg soup is so delicious when eaten with rice."
Two eggs fried together with a handful of green onions are really not enough to fill the gaps between our stomachs. If I eat it myself, there will be no share for my grandparents and dad.
"Of course you can. If Mianmian wants to eat chopped green onion and egg soup, grandma will make it for her."
While responding to her granddaughter lovingly, Mei Cuiping scooped a spoonful of lard into the pot. When the lard melted, she added water to the pot.
Yunmian slid down from the bench, walked to the earthen stove, stood on tiptoe and looked into the pot, and found that there was only a little water in the pot.
"Grandma, this soup is not enough for me. I need to add more water."
Mei Cuiping turned her head and found that her precious granddaughter was standing on tiptoe beside her.
"Ouch, my little ancestor, it's dangerous next to the stove, please step back quickly to avoid getting burned."
Yun Mian obediently took two steps back, put her two white and tender index fingers together, and said weakly: "Grandma, this little soup is really not enough for me. I can eat a lot."
Mei Cuiping had no choice but to add another half bucket of water into the pot.
"Is that enough?"
Yunmian's eyes sparkled as she nodded and replied, "Well, that's enough. Thank you, grandma."
