"Bang!"
Sudden!
A gunshot ripped through the air.
Everyone immediately fell to the ground.
Zhang Cheng lay on the ground and turned his head to look back. He saw Wang Jian's father, Wang Jin, about a hundred meters away, quickly changing bullets and chasing after them.
Li Yongheng took the hunting rifle off his back and aimed it at Wang Jin, who was chasing after him.
"Don't shoot!" the old village chief shouted, rolling over and heading towards the dry ditch beside him. "Get down, all of you, walk through the ditch!"
Li Yongheng glared at Wang Jin, who was chasing after him from a distance, then rolled to the side and jumped into the dry ditch beside him.
"You scum from Zhangjia Village, don't you dare run away!"
Wang Jin gripped his hunting rifle tightly, his rugged face filled with resentment, cursing as he ran.
"Brother Jin, Brother Jin!"
Shouts came from behind, and Wang Hongzhao, with two others, anxiously caught up with Wang Jin.
"Brother Jin, the village chief wants you to go back!"
"Go back? These bastards injured Jianzi and almost burned down the ancestral hall. Now you want me to go back? Let me tell you, I'm not going back!"
"Brother Jin, don't escalate this any further," Wang Hongzhao said with a wry smile. Ultimately, it was your eldest son who first cut down the fruit trees in Zhangjia Village.
"Wang Hongzhao, if you have any guts, come at me with me. If you're out of your mind, get lost." Wang Jin raised his foot and kicked Wang Hongzhao.
Wang Hongzhao retreated and dodged, his face grim.
"Brother Jin, before, in the county, Jianzi and Weiguo went to the cardboard box factory to steal things and were arrested and taken to the police station. It was Zhang Ergouzi from Zhangjia Village who pleaded for Jianzi."
Otherwise, Kenko would definitely go to jail.
Wang Jin knew about this. But Wang Jian explained that those cardboard boxes were worthless, and that Zhang Ergouzi and the cardboard factory manager had deliberately set him up.
Wang Jin also thought that a few broken cardboard boxes couldn't possibly be worth much money.
"Wang Hongzhao, stop talking nonsense. I'm just asking you, if the ancestral hall is burned down, are you going to do anything about it?" Wang Hongzhao was speechless.
“Brother Hongzhao, that’s our ancestral hall. Even though it didn’t burn down, it must have alarmed our ancestors. As their descendants, are we really going to remain indifferent?”
The man next to him tried to persuade him.
“Brother Hongzhao, even if we don’t kill those bastards from Zhangjia Village, we should at least vent our anger for our ancestors.”
If we just let them leave like that, won't our Wang Village be laughed at to death? When we go out in the future, people will ask, "You were cowards who didn't dare say a word when your ancestral hall burned down!"
Wang Hongzhao was lifted up.
He gritted his teeth, "Let's go, catch up with them!" He had made up his mind that if he went with them, at least he could save the lives of the people in Zhangjia Village and prevent Wang Jin and his gang from going too far.
The dried-up ditch was filled with thick silt and tangled with withered weeds, making it impossible to run. After walking for a while, the old village chief was the first to climb out of the ditch. Turning to look at the mountain path, he couldn't see Wang Jin anywhere.
"Get out of here, hurry back to the village!" the old village chief urged the people in the irrigation ditch.
Zhang Cheng darted forward, using the momentum to leap out of the ditch and reach out to pull Zhang Jucai out. Soon, everyone had climbed out of the ditch and ran headlong towards Zhangjia Village.
"Bang!"
Gunfire erupted again.
"Damn it!" The old village chief's face turned ashen as he squinted at the four figures chasing after him. "I just didn't want to make a scene. Do you really think I have no temper and will let you bully me?"
