Chapter 108 Family Genealogy Glory and Village Conspiracy

Wang Village produced two heartless scoundrels, Wang Jian and Wang Weiguo, and now the Zhang family has also jumped in. The old village chief is still unsure how many people stole it.

"Damn it, I refuse to believe it."

The old village chief rolled up his sleeves. "If you don't admit it, I'm going to search the whole village."

Zhang Zoushan and Li Dali weren't worried at all; they had already anticipated that the old village chief would resort to this tactic. They would then search Zhang An's house.

"Uncle, wait a minute!"

Zhang Cheng chuckled and tried to stop him.

"Er Gouzi, what do you have to say?"

“Those of the villagers who saw off Uncle Zhaocai, Uncle Chirou, and Uncle Xiaodai last night, stand on the left.” Zhang Cheng said with a smile.

As he spoke, the twenty-three villagers walked to the left.

"Aunties, madams, you can go out now!" Zhang Cheng said again.

The women walked out of the ancestral hall in unison, gathering at the entrance and peeking out.

"Those over fifty years old, please go to the left!"

The uncles and elders over fifty years old all came from that special period. They are stubborn and would rather starve than steal.

After a while, only about twenty people remained standing in the center of the ancestral hall, looking at each other in bewilderment.

"Everyone, where were you last night? Can anyone testify?" Zhang Cheng asked with a smile.

"Er Gouzi, I didn't go to Wang Village last night because I caught a cold. You can't wrong me. Your sister-in-law can vouch for me."

“My dad went to see Uncle Zhaocai and the others off, so I didn’t go. Brother Gou, I swear to God, I didn’t steal anything from the dealership.”

Li Dali's eyes darted around, and he continued, "Er Gouzi, last night, I went straight to sleep as soon as I got home..."

Outside the ancestral hall, Li Dali's wife's expression changed slightly. He had returned very late last night, and she had assumed he had gone to see Zhang Jucai and the others off.

Zhang An was indignant. "Er Gouzi, I'm your own brother. Do you think I stole your things?"

Can they all corroborate each other?

Zhang Cheng smiled, ignored Zhang An, and prepared to try psychological interrogation.

"Er Gouzi, Er Gouzi!"

At that moment, weak shouts rang out from outside the ancestral hall.

"Cui'er, you're still in your postpartum period, how can you go out in the wind!"

"Er Ya's face is... way too pale!"

"Oh, she's a pitiful girl."

The older women stepped forward to help the swaying Er Ya.

Inside the ancestral hall, Zhang An heard Er Ya's voice, his expression changed slightly, and he turned his head to look.

Er Ya was helped into the ancestral hall by Aunt Hua.

The old village chief's expression darkened, and he felt somewhat displeased. How could a woman be allowed to enter the ancestral hall on such an important occasion?

"Sister-in-law, what brings you here!"

Zhang Cheng walked quickly towards Er Ya, and looking at her pale face and lifeless eyes, he sighed inwardly.

Seeing Zhang Cheng approach, Er Ya's face showed a miserable smile.

"Ergouzi, it was Anzi, Zoushan, and Dali who stole things from the consignment store!"

"You're talking nonsense!" Zhang An's expression changed drastically, and he rushed towards Er Ya.

"You slut, stop talking nonsense! I'll beat you to death!"

"Bang!"

Zhang Cheng's eyes turned cold, and he kicked Zhang An in the neck.

The terrifying force kicked Zhang An to the ground, his head hitting the ground hard.

Zhang Zoushan and Li Dali looked panicked; they never expected that Zhang An's wife would jump out and report them.

"Damn it, so it was you heartless bastards!"

Li Xiaodai cursed loudly and charged towards Zhang Zoushan and Li Dali, with Zhang Jucai following closely behind.

Soon, the two men were pinned to the ground.

Er Ya's eyes were filled with resentment as she stared at Zhang An, who had collapsed and fainted, tears welling up in her eyes.

When her mother strangled her with a rope, and Zhang An remained unmoved, Er Ya's heart died.

That day, Li Dali and Zhang Zoushan came to find Zhang An, and Er Ya, who was lying in the inner room, heard their discussion.

But she was too weak; she didn't even have the strength to stand up.

Last night, she saw Zhang An run back into the inner room with a face full of excitement, and she knew that they had stolen from the consignment store.

So today she did everything she could to get out of bed.

Old Zhang trembled all over, his eyes wide with anger as he stared at Er Ya, who was being supported by Zhang Cheng. He wanted to curse, but he couldn't open his mouth.

"You heartless bastard, how could you slander Anzi?!"

The old woman's cries and curses rang out from outside the ancestral hall.

The older women crowded at the door, refusing to let my mother in, which made her so angry that she bared her teeth and brandished her claws.

Then she was pinned to the ground by four or five old women, unable to move, and could only cry and curse Er Ya.

The old village chief stared at the two men who were being held down by Zhang Jucai and his men, his face grim, before looking at Zhang An, who had collapsed at Zhang Cheng's feet.

"Sister-in-law, you should go back and rest first!" Zhang Cheng saw Er Ya swaying and looked at Aunt Hua.

"Auntie, please help me take my sister-in-law to the store to rest."

"Okay!" Aunt Hua nodded.

Er Ya gripped Zhang Cheng's right hand tightly, stared at him, and said breathlessly:

"Ergouzi, Guawa is your own niece. Your sister-in-law begs you, please have some compassion and take care of her as she grows up..."

"Don't worry, sister-in-law, I will definitely..."

"puff!"

A mouthful of blood spurted from Er Ya's mouth.

"Sister-in-law!!!" Zhang Cheng caught Er Ya as she fell to the ground, coughing up blood.

Blood gushed from Er Ya's mouth, and her voice was weak.

“Hey, Er Gouzi, help…help your sister-in-law out…this good-for-nothing…dying in the ancestral hall, no, that’s bad luck…”
