Hu Bingyang turned around abruptly, his face ashen, staring at Zhong Te as he walked past him.
I really want to kick this idiot who got his position by relying on his future father-in-law to his death.
Zhang Jianhao and the others' faces darkened, and they tried to rush forward, but Zhao Daming held them down firmly.
Given the situation, even if Zhong Te were incredibly stupid, he wouldn't go so far as to arrest someone in public.
Zhang Cheng had a faint smile on his face as he watched Zhong Te walk up to him.
"You're Zhang Cheng?" Zhong Te's voice was as cold as ice.
"right."
"You're the one who crippled Chen Xiaomo!"
Zhang Cheng shrugged helplessly: "Officer, if you have evidence, arrest me anytime. If you don't, I might sue you for defamation."
"Indict me?" Zhong Te suddenly laughed, but the laugh didn't reach his eyes. "Zhang Cheng, don't think that just because you can get the inspector involved, everything will be fine. Now, I, Zhong Te, as the deputy director of Jiefang Street Police Station, ask you to cooperate with the investigation!"
Zhao Daming almost cursed; this Zhong Te was truly clueless!
Hu Bingyang is also in the news. Has he really wasted his time as an official? Things have come to this point, why isn't he moving on?
"Cooperating with the police is a civic duty, of course no problem. Officer, where are you taking me for questioning?" Zhang Cheng's smile remained unchanged.
"Zhong Te, are you ever going to stop?!" Hu Bingyang rushed forward, his face as black as the bottom of a pot. "Don't cause me any more trouble!"
"Bring him to the interrogation room!" Zhong Te shouted at his officers, ignoring them.
The police officers looked at each other, none of them daring to make a move.
"Damn it!"
"Bang!"
Without warning, Hu Bingyang kicked Zhong Te to the ground, pointed at his nose and cursed, "You think I'm giving you face? You son of a bitch, do you think the police station is your private property? Do you even recognize the five words 'Serve the People' at the door?"
Everyone present was stunned, especially the police officers from Jiefang Street, who had never seen Chief Hu so angry.
Seeing that Hu Bingyang's eyes were bloodshot and he looked like he was about to pull out a gun and shoot Zhong Te, Zhao Daming quickly stepped forward and hugged him tightly: "Old Hu, Old Hu! That's enough, people will laugh at us!"
Hu Bingyang's anger finally exploded. Pointing at Zhong Te, who was getting up from the ground and clutching his chest, he yelled, "This idiot really thinks he's something! I usually don't bother with him, but he still dares to shit on my head! If it weren't for Secretary Xu's sake, I would have crippled him long ago..."
While holding Hu Bingyang firmly, Zhao Daming desperately tried to signal to Zhang Cheng with his eyes.
Zhang Cheng smiled and nodded, then turned his gaze to Zhong Te, whose face was ashen and who remained silent. He grinned and said, "Officer, if you need my cooperation in the investigation, I'm at your service anytime."
He turned and walked out of the police station.
Zhang Jianhao and the others helped each other up and quickly caught up.
As soon as they stepped out of the police station, Zhang Jianhao and his group surrounded them, all looking excited.
"Brother, I knew you'd stand up for us!"
"Er Gouzi, I heard from those cops that you cut the Achilles tendons of those bastards and gouged out their eyes too?"
"That feels good! That's fucking great!"
Zhang Cheng raised an eyebrow, his voice turning cold: "What nonsense are you talking about? When have I ever hurt anyone?"
"Bro, we're not going to report you, so why are you keeping this from us?"
"That's right!"
Zhang Cheng's expression turned serious. He scanned the crowd and said, word by word, "Remember this clearly: Chen Xiaomo and the others' injuries have nothing to do with me. I'm a legitimate businessman; I don't do anything illegal. Also, get to the hospital now, or you'll suffer any lasting health problems!"
After sending Zhang Jianhao and the others to the hospital, Zhang Cheng returned to his rented room.
He lay in bed, his eyes darting around. The inspector's pressure had eased for the time being, but as long as that mad dog, Zhong Te, wouldn't let go, the matter wouldn't be over.
Knock knock knock!
A knocking sounded abruptly at the door.
Zhang Cheng's eyes narrowed, and he quickly put on his cotton-padded clothes and trousers, his right hand already gripping a military dagger.
Zhang Jianhao and his group weren't so polite when knocking on the door.
"Crunch."
The door was cracked.
Zhong Te?
Zhang Cheng raised an eyebrow, then opened the door completely. Looking at Zhong Te, who was staring intently at him from the doorway, a slight smile appeared on his lips: "Officer, it's so late, are you here to ask for my cooperation in an investigation?"
Zhong Te's eyes were cold and menacing, staring at Zhang Cheng like a venomous snake: "Zhang Cheng, I'll remember you. From now on, I'll keep a close eye on you, and you'd better not fall into my hands. Chen Xiaomo's case isn't closed. As long as I get the evidence, you can expect to be shot!"
"Officer, I've said it before, arrest people if you have evidence. There's no point in coming here to make threats." Zhang Cheng shrugged, looking helpless.
"Heh." Zhong Te let out a cold laugh. "Zhang Cheng, you'd better understand one thing: since ancient times, the common people have never fought against the officials."
Before he finished speaking, he turned and left, disappearing into the shadows of the stairs.
ill.
Why did you come all this way in the middle of the night just to say these few words of nonsense?
Zhang Cheng shook his head slightly. However, such mindless guys are often the most likely to do some unexpected stupid things, so we have to be careful.
He closed the door, lay back down on the bed, and closed his eyes to think.
The next morning, Zhang Cheng was woken up by a loud banging on the door, accompanied by Zhang Da Tou shouting, "Er Gouzi, I bought you steamed buns and porridge..."
Zhang Cheng got up and opened the door.
Zhang Da Nao, beaming, squeezed into the room carrying an aluminum lunchbox: "Jianhao and the others went to the video arcade. A lot of chairs were smashed last night, and they said they'd fix them themselves. By the way, that Boss Zhang from Jiaxing asked me to ask you when you'd be free to come over for a visit."
Zhang Cheng dampened a towel with warm water from the thermos and wiped his face: "I'm afraid I won't be free this month. Let's talk about it in April. How's the clothing store?"
"Same as always, business is booming!" Zhang Da Nao grinned. "A couple of days ago, Li Zhiqing mentioned to me that it's getting hot soon, and asked me to look around Jiaxing to see if there are any soda factories so I can bring some soda back to sell."
