"Why!"
After a long while, Huang Pinyu let out a long sigh.
The deafening music and noise inside the private room seemed to be shut out by an invisible door.
In his view, the Jiaxing faction had won, at least on the surface.
Zhang Cheng was arrested; he'll be severely punished, if not killed.
That lucrative piece of meat called the "industrial park" will ultimately fall into the mouths of Li Bingyang and his group.
Is it said that the construction was done at a loss?
Huang Pinyu sneered inwardly. He was willing to risk his life to guarantee that once construction began, these ravenous wolves would devour the project budget, leaving not even a bone fragment.
"Old Huang, you look terrible, are you feeling unwell?"
A voice sounded beside him, and Yan Bin sat down with a wine glass in his hand. His seemingly concerned eyes hid a hint of inquiry.
"I have a bit of a headache." Huang Pinyu forced a smile that looked more like a grimace.
"Don't drink it if you have a headache!"
Yan Bin moved with astonishing speed, grabbing Huang Pinyu's hand that was holding the wine glass, his eyes sharp as knives, instantly sweeping across the entire room.
The next second, he stood up, his voice not loud, but it drowned out all the noise.
"Everyone, Lao Huang isn't feeling well, I'm taking him to the hospital."
Before he could finish speaking, he grabbed Huang Pinyu's arm without giving him a chance to explain, and dragged him out of the private room amidst the astonished gazes of the crowd.
Outside the door, Feng Sanyao narrowed his eyes and said to Huang Yifan beside him in a sinister tone, "This Yan Bin has been getting a bit too close to those out-of-towners lately... In the future, be careful of him."
Huang Yifan was taken aback: "It can't be that bad, can it? Old Yan has made a lot of money following us."
"Hmph, a weather vane, he bends whichever way the wind blows." Feng Sanyao curled his lip in disdain.
...
Meanwhile, outside the Baiyan Dance Hall.
A cold night wind blew, and Huang Pinyu shivered, sobering up considerably.
"Old Yan, what exactly do you want?" He shook off Yan Bin's hand, his voice filled with vigilance.
Yan Bin did not answer, but simply pointed to the Volkswagen Santana across the street.
"Get in the car and we'll talk."
Huang Pinyu's eyes flickered, and after hesitating for a moment, he finally followed.
The moment the car door closed, it felt as if two worlds were separated.
Huang Pinyu could no longer contain herself and stared intently at Yan Bin: "Now you can tell me, right? What exactly do you want?"
Yan Bin started the car but didn't drive away immediately; he just let the engine idle.
He turned his head and looked at Huang Pinyu calmly.
"Old Huang, you've collected quite a few things over the years, haven't you?"
Huang Pinyu's heart sank suddenly, and his pupils instantly contracted to needle size.
His facial muscles tensed, and he shouted sternly, "Yan Bin, what the hell are you talking about! We're both from the Jiaxing Gang!"
"hehe."
Yan Bin laughed, a soft laugh that sent a chill down Huang Pinyu's spine.
"If you don't want anyone to know, then don't do it in the first place. No matter how secretive you are, you will always leave some clues."
He paused, his smile slowly fading, replaced by a solemnity that was completely different from his usual honest and simple image.
"Moreover, like you, I think the Jiaxing Gang is a ship that's about to sink."
"With Zhao Shijie gone, those two idiots, Li Bingyang and Feng Sanyao, are ruthless and leave no way out. They will only drag everyone down with them."
"Their takeover of the industrial park is not an opportunity, but a death sentence."
Yan Bin's voice was deep, each word like a pebble striking Huang Pinyu's heart.
"It's time for what you have in your hands to be exposed to the light of day."
Huang Pinyu remained silent.
He felt like a frog being targeted by a venomous snake, his whole body stiff.
"Old Huang, what are you still hesitating about?" Yan Bin took a step closer. "You collected all that stuff just to wait for an opportunity to protect yourself, didn't you?"
"Self-protection?" Huang Pinyu finally found his voice, but it was extremely dry. "What can I use to protect myself? Use those things to report them? Lao Yan, you're too naive! Don't you know how deep the waters are in Jiaxing? Those things can only be used to kick someone when they're down, never to be used as a shield!"
He raised his eyelids to meet Yan Bin's gaze and retorted, "You know me so well, do you think your hands are clean? You want me to be cannon fodder? You're too cunning!"
Huang Pinyu dared not gamble.
Once he makes a move, regardless of whether Li Bingyang and the others fall or not, he definitely won't live past the next day.
The Jiaxing gang has more than one or two lives on their hands.
“If I had something that could make the final decision, I wouldn’t be talking to you now; I would be going straight to the Discipline Inspection Commission.” Yan Bin’s answer was impeccable.
"Pull over!" Huang Pinyu said coldly, he didn't want to talk anymore.
"Don't rush."
"Then tell me, what exactly do you know that none of us know?" Huang Pinyu's eyes were burning with determination; this was his final probing.
Yan Bin's eyes flickered for a moment, then turned into a bitter laugh.
"Old Huang, you always overthink things..."
"Stop the car!" Huang Pinyu's voice was filled with anger. "If we keep talking like this, we'll ruin our friendship of several years!"
The air inside the car seemed to freeze.
Just as Huang Pinyu thought the negotiations had broken down and was about to force open the car door, Yan Bin spoke up quietly.
"Yan Guozhou from the Municipal Public Security Bureau is my cousin."
boom!
Huang Pinyu felt as if a thunderbolt had exploded in his head. He stared wide-eyed at the familiar yet unfamiliar man beside him in disbelief.
He gasped, gave a thumbs up, and his voice trembled.
"Yan Bin...you...you've been hiding this for a damn long time!"
Yan Bin's face was no longer feigned, only cold calm remained.
