Huang Pinyu collapsed to the ground, using all her strength to hold her son's gradually cooling body.
His face was contorted in extreme pain, tears and snot streaming down his face as he let out a wild howl.
"Son...son...wake up...if you die, what will your father do all by himself..."
Just as he was feeling utterly heartbroken, a cold, hard object pressed firmly against the back of his head.
It's the muzzle of a gun.
A bone-chilling cold instantly pierced through my entire body, as if I had fallen into an ancient ice cave, and even my cries of agony were frozen in my throat.
Under the shadow of death, Huang Pinyu suddenly displayed an eerie calmness, screaming, "Don't kill me! I have money! I have lots and lots of money!"
Behind him, the masked burly man remained motionless, his exposed eyes revealing only a numb ferocity.
"Brother, you kill people just for money, don't you?"
Huang Pinyu swallowed hard, his voice trembling uncontrollably, but he forced himself to speak clearly.
He knew that the fact that the assassin hadn't fired immediately meant he still had a chance to survive.
“I know you killed Yan Bin. There were too many people in the hotel, you wouldn’t have had a chance to take the money. But this is my home, it’s just the two of us!”
"No matter who sent you, I'll give you double their money! You can take more money than you can spend in a lifetime and leave Jiaxing, leave this godforsaken place!"
The hoarse voice finally rang out, like rusty iron scraping against each other.
How much money do you have?
Huang Pinyu was overjoyed. He wasn't afraid of the price the other party wanted; he was just afraid that the other party was a madman who only cared about his life.
"Thirty-five thousand! I have thirty-five thousand in cash at home! And gold bars, worth at least five thousand! It's all yours!"
He slowly laid his son's body flat on the carpet, raising his hands high to show that he posed no threat.
"I'll go get it right now, I swear, I won't try anything funny!"
"Go get it."
"Okay, okay..."
Huang Pinyu stood up shakily, not daring to turn around, and stiffly moved towards the study.
The burly man followed him like a shadow, the muzzle of the gun never leaving the back of his head, like an ice pick piercing his bone marrow.
Entering the study, Huang Pinyu opened the bookcase, revealing an inconspicuous safe. He took out the key from a hidden compartment at the top of the bookcase.
"Click".
The box door opened, revealing neatly stacked stacks of banknotes inside.
"Brother, the money...the money's all here."
A flicker of greed finally flashed in the burly man's eyes.
"brother!"
Huang Pinyu suddenly raised his voice, his heart almost leaping out of his throat; this was his last gamble.
“My name is Huang Pinyu, and I’m considered someone of importance in Jiaxing. If you take the money today, I, Huang Pinyu, guarantee that this matter will remain a secret!”
"For me, letting me live is just losing some money. But for you, it gives you a way out!"
"Someone like you who lives on the edge of a knife makes money fast, but it goes fast too. As long as I'm alive, I'm your 'ATM.' Whenever you need money, just give me a call, and I'll bring it to you! Think about it, is it more worthwhile to kill me and take a sum of money, or to keep my life alive so I can keep giving you money?"
The burly man narrowed his eyes, his gaze filled with intense struggle.
Huang Pinyu's words were like the devil's temptation, precisely piercing the most greedy part of his heart.
"What if I come to collect the money and you ambush me with your men?" The burly man's voice was cold and piercing.
"Brother, I don't even know who you are, where am I supposed to ambush you? I just want my life!" Huang Pinyu practically roared.
That makes sense!
The murderous intent in the burly man's eyes gradually faded, replaced by greed.
"Okay, I'll trust you this once!"
Before he finished speaking, he suddenly raised his pistol and smashed the butt of the gun hard against the back of Huang Pinyu's head!
A sharp pain shot through Huang Pinyu, causing her vision to go black. She collapsed forward with a muffled groan, then closed her eyes tightly and remained motionless.
The masked, burly man glanced around warily, grabbed a briefcase, emptied the cash and gold jewelry from the safe, and strode away without looking back.
I don't know how much time passed; maybe three minutes, maybe a century.
Huang Pinyu suddenly propped himself up. The excruciating pain in the back of his head and the sticky bloodstains were nothing compared to the resentment in his heart.
His bloodshot eyes blazed with a hatred that could consume everything.
He struggled to crawl to his desk, picked up the phone, and dialed a pager with all his might.
A moment later, the call came back.
"Ah Chao!" Huang Pinyu's voice was hoarse and inhuman. "Zhengjie is dead... my son is dead!"
"I don't care what methods you use or how much money you spend, just find the murderer for me!"
"And..." He paused, each word seeming to be squeezed out from between his teeth.
"I want Li Bingyang dead!!!"
...
Meanwhile, the Jiaxing Municipal Public Security Bureau.
After presenting all the official documents and procedures from the Funing County Public Security Bureau and the Procuratorate, Zhao Daming, Tong Kaiwen, and Liu Zhongren finally completed the handover.
The interrogation room door opened.
Zhang Cheng walked out, his wrists still cuffed with cold handcuffs.
He stood in the courtyard of the Public Security Bureau, took a deep breath of the cool night air, looked up at the dark blue night sky, and his face showed no emotion.
Zhao Daming looked at him and sighed with a complicated expression: "Brother, you've had more trouble in the past six months than I have in my entire life. If it weren't for Secretary Liu's approval and Prosecutor Tong's personal visit, you would have really been skinned alive here."
Zhang Cheng turned his gaze to the silent Tong Kaiwen and said calmly, "Brother Tong, I'll remember this favor."
