Chapter 234 So cheap!

The group, in a grand procession, headed straight for the credit union.

Because of the large amount involved, Zhang Cheng called ahead, and Director Zhou personally came out to greet him.

No nonsense.

Zhang Cheng had Li Fuguo and Li Qiming open two new accounts.

100,000, 10,000.

The two sums of money, like two pebbles thrown into water, were transferred in an instant.

He then withdrew another 33,000 yuan in cash, a thick stack of bills.

Thirty thousand to Brother Dao, three thousand back to Zhao Daming.

He handed the three thousand yuan to Liu Zhongren, giving him a knowing look.

After finishing all this, Zhang Cheng remained silent and signaled for everyone to return to the hospital.

This decisive calmness made Liu Zhongren's heart tighten; he was finding it increasingly difficult to understand this young man.

Back in the ward, Zhang Jianhao and the others tactfully took their leave.

After changing Zhang Cheng's dressing, Liu Yihan left, turning back to look at him every few steps.

Not long after, an unexpected person arrived.

Yu Ju.

He came alone, a mysterious smile on his face, scrutinizing Zhang Cheng on the hospital bed.

"Did Da Ming tell you everything that happened in the early hours of the morning?"

Director Yu's voice was very calm, as if he were chatting about everyday things.

"I told you," Zhang Cheng nodded, his expression unchanged.

"What do you think?" Director Yu's eyes sharpened, as if trying to pierce through Zhang Cheng's disguise.

Zhang Cheng smiled, with a hint of helplessness: "Director Yu, you overestimate me. What opinions could a patient like me, who is recovering from an injury, possibly have?"

Director Yu's smile deepened, and he slowly said, "Before Zhong Te's men found any clues, Zhao Daming had already produced a sketch of the murderer at the station."

This sentence was like a silent bomb.

Zhang Cheng didn't even lift his eyelids: "Then you should ask Director Zhao, he's incredibly resourceful."

"hehe."

Director Yu smiled, stopped pressing for details, and changed the subject: "Alright, let's not talk about this. The case has already been announced as solved, everyone's happy. I'm here to inform you of something."

"Please speak."

"Secretary Liu has approved your application for medical parole."

Director Yu stared into Zhang Cheng's eyes and said, word by word, "Secretary Liu means that you can go back to the village to recuperate."

Zhang Cheng's lips twitched slightly, but he quickly regained his composure: "Director Yu, I'm so badly injured, going back to the village... I'm afraid it wouldn't be convenient, would it?"

"It was precisely because your injury was severe that it was approved."

Director Yu's tone carried a hint of warning, "Secretary Liu said that you are a whirlpool; wherever you go, there will be unrest. Funing has just stabilized and cannot withstand further turmoil. You have two options: either go back to Zhangjia Village to recuperate, or go to the military hospital and have the armed police watch over you 24 hours a day. Choose for yourself."

Zhang Cheng remained silent for a moment.

"Then I'll go back to Zhangjia Village."

"It's good that you've figured it out." Director Yu stood up, reached out, and patted Zhang Cheng's shoulder heavily. "Kid, tone it down. Once you're healed, there will be plenty of opportunities for you to show your skills in Funing."

After saying that, he strode away and never looked back.

Liu Zhongren walked in, looked at Zhang Cheng who seemed lost in thought, and sighed: "Director Yu personally came to drive you away, you have quite the influence. I'll take you back to your village, but I can't carry you by myself."

"Brother Liu, could you please go and call Jianhao and the others?"

"OK!"

At noon, Brother Dao sneaked into the ward like a ghost.

Liu Zhongren glanced at him, then consciously walked outside and lit a cigarette.

"Master Zhang!" Dao Ge's eyes were filled with undisguised awe and fervor.

Last night, firecrackers went off all over the city, and this morning the news of the notorious bandit being brought to justice spread throughout the streets and alleys. If he still can't guess Zhang Cheng's methods, then he's really wasted his life.

Zhang Cheng pointed to the drawer of the bedside table.

Inside were six stacks of brand-new fifty-yuan bills, totaling thirty thousand yuan.

"Take the money and go as far away as possible."

"Don't worry, Boss Zhang! We brothers will set off for Shenzhen tonight!" Brother Dao's breathing became heavy instantly as he stared intently at the huge sum of money.

"Once you get to Shenzhen, first spend money to get a temporary residence permit," Zhang Cheng advised.

"Temporary residence permit? What's that?" Brother Dao was taken aback. "I have an ID card."

“Over there, ID cards are useless. Without one, you’re treated as a vagrant and could be arrested at any time,” Zhang Cheng explained casually.

Dao Ge felt a chill run down his spine and didn't ask any more questions.

"Alright, take the money and let's go."

"Take care, Mr. Zhang!"

Brother Dao took out a woven bag, neatly packed the money, gave Zhang Cheng a deep fist salute, and then turned and disappeared out the door.

No sooner had Dao Ge left than Li Yuanyuan arrived, bringing with her a fragrant breeze.

She nodded to Liu Zhongren outside the door, then walked gracefully to the bedside and placed an exquisite thermos on the bedside table.

"I had someone prepare this medicinal meal for you. It's mild and nourishing. Try it." She skillfully opened the pot lid, and a fragrant aroma filled the air.

"I'm going back to the village," Zhang Cheng suddenly said.

Li Yuanyuan paused in her hand as she prepared to ladle out the soup, her beautiful eyes filled with astonishment: "Why? You're so badly injured, how will you recover back in the village? Could it be... that you miss your little wife?"

“Yangyang is my wife, it’s only natural that I miss her,” Zhang Cheng grinned.

Li Yuanyuan was taken aback, and rolled her eyes at him irritably: "You know she's your wife, do you need to remind me of that every day?"

A barely perceptible hint of grievance flashed in her eyes as she picked up the spoon, but her tone remained forceful: "Drink the soup."

"Your hand isn't broken, do it yourself."

"You!" Li Yuanyuan's cheeks flushed red with anger.

Just then, a hurried voice came.

"Zhang Cheng, I heard you were discharged from the hospital?!"

Liu Yihan ran into the ward breathlessly, and when she saw Li Yuanyuan sitting intimately by the bed, all her questions got stuck in her throat.
