Li Dali was terrified, crawling and scrambling, covered in dust and grass clippings.
Behind them, the large, brown-yellow striped tiger leaped silently with each bound, yet it carried the oppressive aura unique to the king of the forest, like a yellow lightning bolt that chased after the soul.
At the same time, the gunshots shattered the tranquility of Zhangjia Village.
Lights came on in every household one after another, and countless villagers, carrying pitchforks, carrying poles, and torches, surged toward the consignment shop like a tide.
The old village chief, wearing a faded Zhongshan suit and clutching a gleaming sickle, ran breathlessly.
Beside him, Zhang Guangtian held up a torch, his face ashen and his voice trembling.
"Uncle, Er Gou fired again... Could it really be that unclean thing coming again?"
"Bullshit!"
The old village chief turned his head and gave him a fierce look.
"Hurry up and go check it out!"
"Oh oh oh!"
Zhang Guangtian shrank back in shock from the shout and ran frantically toward the sales store.
now.
Zhang Cheng, leaning on his cane and carrying the scorching hot hunting rifle in one hand, stood quietly at the entrance of the dealership, supported by Shi Yangyang.
His gaze pierced through the night, looking towards the mountains and forests in the southeast.
"roar--!!!"
The tiger's roar was deafening, as if the entire mountain was echoing.
Immediately afterwards, a cry that sounded inhuman came from afar.
"Help!!!"
The first few young men who arrived were stunned when they heard the voice.
"Not an evil spirit?"
"It's a person!"
"That voice... why does it sound so familiar?"
A villager suddenly slapped his thigh: "It's Li Dali! That's right, it's that son of a bitch Li Dali!"
"Damn! So this bastard was just playing tricks! Let's go, catch him!"
Zhang Cheng stood silently at the door, his face as cold as ice.
The old village chief, panting heavily, ran up to Zhang Cheng and grabbed his arm.
"Ergou, are you alright?"
"Uncle, I'm fine."
Only after receiving an affirmative answer did the old village chief breathe a sigh of relief. He then listened intently, his face growing increasingly grim.
A few minutes later.
Zhang Guangtian and his men dragged a mud-covered, disheveled figure to the open ground outside the store.
The torchlight illuminated that face.
All the villagers gasped in shock.
"Is it really Li Dali?"
"So it turns out it was this little bastard who was behind it all!"
"Damn it! I thought I was really possessed. I knelt in front of the Kitchen God all night last night, and my knees still hurt!"
"Didn't he go to Huangdian Village with Zhang Zoushan? Why did he come back?"
"thump!"
Zhang Guilan stepped forward and kicked Li Dali right in the back of the knee.
Li Dali screamed and knelt down in front of everyone.
Seeing his appearance, Zhang Cheng's eyes were practically overflowing with murderous intent.
This bastard is the reason why Yangyang and I didn't get a good night's sleep for two nights.
Despite the excruciating pain in his knees, Li Dali stubbornly shouted at the people around him, "What are you doing! What right do you have to arrest me!"
The old village chief, carrying a sickle, walked forward step by step, his voice sounding as if squeezed out from between his teeth.
"You bastard, tell me why we arrested you?"
"In the middle of the night, instead of sleeping, you come here to play tricks and scare Er Gou. Are you tired of living?!"
"Uncle, don't make false accusations!" Li Dali stubbornly refused to admit it.
"I just came around here to catch a few mountain frogs. Is that illegal? Besides, if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear! Zhang Ergou is afraid because he has something to hide!"
The old village chief was so angry he laughed.
Catching mountain frogs?
You think you can catch me empty-handed?
"You little beast, you're still pretty stubborn!"
The old village chief raised his sickle, as if to smash it down with the back of the blade.
"Zhang Xiangui, how dare you!" Li Dali struggled desperately, shouting hysterically, "I'm no longer a member of your Zhangjia Village, you have no right to touch me!"
The old village chief paused.
That's absolutely true; Li Dali's name was crossed off the family tree long ago.
Seeing the old village chief hesitate, Li Dali became even more arrogant and roared at the crowd:
"Is Zhangjia Village a palace? Are we not allowed to get close? I'm here to catch mountain frogs, what right do you have to arrest me! Is there no law anymore?!"
The group looked at each other, at a loss for what to do.
Seeing this, Li Dali became even more smug and turned to curse, "Zhang Guangtian, are you out of your mind? I didn't steal or rob, why are you grabbing me!"
Zhang Guangtian's lips twitched, and he subconsciously looked at the old village chief.
The old village chief squinted at Li Dali, then suddenly kicked him without saying a word!
"Bang!"
This kick landed squarely on Li Dali's chest.
Li Dali was struck dumb, his whole body arched backward, a breath stuck in his throat, his face turned red, and he coughed violently.
"Zhang Xiangui...you...what right do you have to hit me!"
It took him a long time to catch his breath, his eyes bloodshot as he glared at the old village chief.
The old village chief leisurely tucked his sickle behind his waist, began rolling up his sleeves, and gave a cold snort.
"Just because your father has to respectfully call me 'brother' when he sees me!"
"You...you're being unreasonable!"
"Why would I bother reasoning with a little bastard like you!"
Before he could finish speaking, the old village chief stepped forward and slapped him twice across the face, followed by punches and kicks.
Zhang Guangtian and the others held Li Dali down tightly, watching the old village chief get a beating, their mouths twitching.
The old village chief really went all out.
Within two minutes, Li Dali collapsed to the ground, whimpering like a dead dog, his whole body aching as if it were falling apart.
