Chapter 29 The Iron Rice Bowl of the Public Sector

"What?! Twenty yuan a month?!" Zhang Da was completely stunned, his tongue almost tied in knots.

He knew how many connections Tie Zhengzi had pulled and how much money he had spent to get a temporary job at the cannery, but he could only earn ten yuan a month even after working himself to the bone!

Now, Er Gouzi offers him twenty yuan a month as soon as he opens his mouth?

"Second, Second Dog... this... isn't this a bit too much?" Zhang Da Nao was a little incredulous.

"A lot?" Zhang Cheng chuckled, but his tone was serious and undeniable. "Big Head, let me tell you something from the bottom of my heart. As long as you work diligently with me, let alone twenty yuan a month, even two hundred or two thousand a month in the future, it won't be a lot!"

Two thousand yuan a month?

Zhang Da Nao instinctively felt that Zhang Cheng was bragging.

How is that possible?

He heard that the factory manager of the cannery only earns a little over a hundred yuan a month.

Two thousand yuan... what does that even mean? He couldn't even imagine it.

The two chatted for more than an hour. Zhang Cheng gradually felt sleepy, so he snuggled under the covers, closed his eyes to rest, and soon his even breathing could be heard.

On the bed next to him, Zhang Da tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep.

His mind was filled with Zhang Cheng's blueprint and promises, and his heart was pounding like a rabbit's.

He really wanted to talk to Zhang Cheng a little longer and ask him more questions, but hearing Zhang Cheng's seemingly sound asleep snoring, he felt embarrassed to disturb him.

And so it went on until the early hours of the morning before Zhang Da Nao finally drifted off to sleep.

Before falling asleep, he finally figured something out.

I'm just a rough person, not very smart, why should I think so much?

Now that Er Gouzi has some skills, I'll just obediently follow him and listen to him; you can't go wrong!

As dawn broke, Zhang Cheng's biological clock woke him up on time.

Zhang Cheng glanced at Zhang Datou, who was still fast asleep with a silly smile on his lips, but did not wake him.

He tiptoed out of the room, went to the front desk to pay for another day's stay, and then, in the corridor of the guesthouse, facing the biting morning wind, he began practicing his powerful and fierce military boxing routine.

After performing a set of punches for more than half an hour, Zhang Cheng felt his blood surging and a warm feeling spreading through his body, dispelling the severe cold.

He then left the guesthouse and bought five hot, coarsely steamed buns filled with chives from a nearby breakfast stall.

Five steamed buns cost only 15 cents.

Back in the room, Zhang Cheng woke up Zhang Da Nao, who was still asleep, and handed him three steamed buns.

She quickly finished the two and then crawled back into her warm bed.

This weather is awful, it's so cold.

With nothing to do, the two spent the whole day holed up in their guesthouse room.

It wasn't until 4:30 p.m., when they figured it was about time, that the two of them dressed properly, left the guesthouse, and headed towards the Guoyun Hotel.

The private room Zhang Cheng booked wasn't very large, but its decorations were quite exquisite, with mahogany tables and chairs and ink paintings hanging on the walls, exuding an antique elegance.

"Big Head Bro, you sit here and wait a bit. I'll go greet the guests at the door." After settling Big Head Bro in, Zhang Cheng walked out of the private room alone.

He arrived at the grand entrance of the Guoyun Hotel and stood patiently in the cold wind.
