Chapter 92 The Local Tyrant Encounters a Foreign Dragon

When Sheng Changnan heard that Zhang Cheng wanted to take the remaining treasury bonds from his factory, he was so excited he almost jumped out of his chair.

These days, treasury bonds are a hot commodity, yet people are still scrambling to get them?

Fearing that Zhang Cheng might change his mind, he didn't even finish his meal and dragged Zhang Cheng straight to the cardboard box factory.

Seeing his eager look, Zhang Cheng didn't spoil his fun.

Upon arriving at the cardboard box factory, Zhang Cheng counted out 2,500 yuan and exchanged it for 4,760 yuan worth of treasury bonds.

Sheng Changnan held the stack of money, his hands trembling slightly, and looked at Zhang Cheng as if he were a god of wealth.

This large handbag was a gift from President Zhou.

Both parties were happy with the transaction. Zhang Cheng, carrying his bag, left the cardboard box factory and returned to the guesthouse, bowing and scraping as Sheng Changnan saw him off.

"Er Gouzi, you're back!" Zhang Da Nao greeted him.

"The village chief told me to tell you that the loan is done, and everyone can go back to the village first thing tomorrow morning."

Zhang Cheng hummed in agreement: "Wake me up tomorrow morning, and I'll see everyone off."

"become!"

The following morning, Zhang Cheng saw off the large procession of villagers.

Those who had helped were all carrying various rare items from the county town that Zhang Cheng had given them, beaming with joy.

Those who didn't help were naturally envious and resentful, but Zhang Cheng couldn't be bothered with them.

His mind is currently focused on his newly opened business.

After seeing the villagers off, Zhang Cheng rode his bicycle straight to the shops on South Street.

Treasury Bond Buyback Center

A brand-new plaque has been hung above the door, with large black characters standing out prominently on the white wooden board.

The shop was busier than he had expected; Li Yuanyuan was surrounded by three or four customers.

She handled the situation with ease and didn't notice Zhang Cheng in the corner.

"Comrade, one hundred treasury bonds only get you fifty dollars, isn't that too little? Can you offer a higher amount?"

An elderly woman carrying a vegetable basket smacked her lips.

Li Yuanyuan had a sweet smile on her face:

"Auntie, this price is really not low."

If you don't believe me, go ask around elsewhere; you can find deals where you can get 45 for 100!

I don't accept them every day; they might stop in a few days.

Upon hearing this, the old woman gritted her teeth and pulled out ten yuan worth of treasury bonds from her pocket:

"Okay, miss, give me five yuan's worth!"

"Okay, ma'am, please wait a moment!"

Li Yuanyuan took the treasury bonds, quickly counted out five yuan and handed them over, smiling throughout, treating everyone the same regardless of the amount exchanged.

Zhang Cheng watched quietly from the corner for a while, and was fairly satisfied with Li Yuanyuan's performance.

Just then, two slovenly young men strolled into the shop, their shifty eyes sizing up Li Yuanyuan.

One of them chuckled, pushed aside the customers blocking his way, and got to the counter.

"Hey girl, how do I exchange treasury bonds here?"

Li Yuanyuan's smile remained unchanged: "Ten treasury bonds, exchange for five yuan."

"Oh? I have a hundred here, can you exchange it for me?"

As the young man spoke, he pulled a crumpled piece of paper from the pocket of his worn-out Zhongshan suit and tried to stuff it into Li Yuanyuan's hand.

Li Yuanyuan's smile froze slightly, and she took a half step back without making a sound: "Comrade, please don't joke around, this is not a treasury bond."

"No?" The young man's smile widened, tinged with a hint of threat.

"Hey girl, we're from the Cleaver Gang. Give us some face?"

The machete gang was a notorious local thug in Funing County, and the police station cracked down on them every few days.

Despite repeated bans, it persists, growing back like chives after being cut down.

Upon hearing the words "Machete Gang," the other customers in the store turned pale and quickly made excuses to slip out.

In the blink of an eye, only Li Yuanyuan, two thugs, and Zhang Cheng, who hadn't uttered a sound, remained in the shop.

Only then did Li Yuanyuan notice Zhang Cheng. It was as if she had found her pillar of support. Her panic subsided considerably, and a smile returned to her face.

When the thug saw Li Yuanyuan suddenly smiling so brightly, he assumed it was the reputation of the Cleaver Gang that had intimidated her, and he became even more smug.

"Hey girl, if you don't want to switch, that's fine too. Have dinner with us guys tonight, watch a video, and we'll take care of your place from now on!"

Zhang Cheng stepped forward.

"Slap!" He grabbed the thug's wrist as he reached for Li Yuanyuan and snatched the so-called "treasury bond".

"Who the hell are you? How dare you meddle in other people's business?" The thug winced in pain as he glared at Zhang Cheng.

Zhang Cheng smirked: "I'm in charge of this shop."

He walked behind the counter, took out a few small bills from the drawer, and threw them on the counter: "Take them and get out of here, don't get in the way."

The thug was stunned at first, then flew into a rage. Fifty yuan had become a few cents. The difference was too great!

He felt deeply insulted:

"Damn it! Are you trying to fob me off like a beggar? Do you even know who I am?"

"If you don't give us a hundred or two as protection money today, and let this girl keep us company for a bit, you can forget about keeping your shop open!"

"Bang!"

Without warning, Zhang Cheng punched the thug in the face.

The thug screamed, clutched his nose, and fell backward to the ground, blood gushing out from between his fingers.

"You son of a bitch, you dare to lay a hand on me! I'll kill you!"

Seeing his companion being beaten, another thug yelled, pulled a rusty dagger from his waist, and lunged at Zhang Cheng.

Zhang Cheng's eyes turned cold. Instead of retreating, he advanced. His right hand moved with lightning speed, precisely grabbing the wrist of the person holding the knife, and twisting and pulling sharply.

"Crack!" The sound of a wrist dislocating could be clearly heard.

The dagger clattered to the ground.

Zhang Cheng followed up with a kick to the thug's stomach, sending him flying two meters like a kite with a broken string.

He slammed his head against the wall, curled up in a ball, and was in so much pain that he couldn't even speak.

In just a few seconds, both thugs were lying on the ground.
