"Huh? Oh!" Although Feng Yingchun was full of doubts, she still obediently ran towards the Santana.
"Zhang Cheng, you must be very careful!"
Li Yuanyuan walked up to Zhang Cheng, her beautiful eyes filled with deep worry.
"Remember, no matter what happens, taking a step back will open up a whole new world. We have a long road ahead of us, so don't do something you'll regret for the rest of your life because of a moment of anger!"
Zhang Cheng smiled gently and reached out to tidy her wind-blown hair.
"Alright, you're starting to sound like a housekeeper. Get in the car."
"You must be careful!"
Li Yuanyuan gave one more instruction before turning around and opening the car door.
Zhang Cheng stood there, quietly watching the Santana disappear into the traffic. The smile on his face gradually faded, replaced by a bottomless chill.
He raised his hand to take off his gold-rimmed glasses, gently wiped the lenses, and a smile appeared on his lips.
"1987..."
"An era without cameras, an era where people were willing to risk their lives for a few hundred dollars."
"What an enviable era."
He turned around, strode towards the Cadillac, started the engine, and merged into the river of cars.
Behind them, the Volkswagen Santana responsible for "protection" followed at a leisurely pace.
A dozen minutes later, the Cadillac pulled up in front of an inconspicuous little noodle shop.
Zhang Cheng walked into the noodle shop, ordered a bowl of plain noodles, and asked the owner for directions to the restroom.
at the same time.
In a dilapidated house on the outskirts of the city, Brother Dao and several of his men lay sprawled on the bed, snoring loudly.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
The dull, urgent knocking sound struck everyone's heart like a heavy hammer.
Dao Ge sat up with a start, rubbing his sleepy eyes. When he saw the sky outside the window, he instantly became wide awake.
He didn't even have time to put on his shoes before rushing barefoot to open the door.
Standing outside the door was indeed Zhang Cheng.
"Master Zhang!"
Zhang Cheng walked into the room without saying a word. The room smelled of sweat and cheap alcohol.
He casually removed his gold-rimmed glasses, and then, to everyone's astonishment, began to take off his expensive suit, trousers, and finally his leather shoes.
He looked around and his gaze fell on a young man whose build most resembled his own. He pointed at him.
"You, come here."
"Put this outfit on."
"Huh?" The young man looked completely bewildered.
"What do you mean 'huh'? Just wear it because Master Zhang told you to!" Brother Dao kicked him in the butt.
"Oh oh oh!"
The young man rushed up to Zhang Cheng in a flustered manner, stammering, "Master Zhang, I... I really can wear it?"
"Put them on."
Zhang Cheng helped him put on his suit, his cold voice ringing in his ears.
"Wait a minute, climb from the roof of this bungalow to the noodle shop next door. Here are the car keys. Don't start the car. Get in the driver's seat and pretend to be asleep on the steering wheel."
"Also, put on these glasses."
"Remember, when you leave the noodle shop, keep your head down and don't let anyone see your face."
"Oh, oh, oh!" The young man was so nervous that he was trembling all over and could only nod.
Zhang Cheng turned his head and looked at Brother Dao, his eyes sharp as knives.
"Xiao Dao, you have half an hour to find two clean cars."
"Hurry up."
"Okay!" Brother Dao nodded emphatically.
Although it was a difficult task, he knew he had no right to say "no."
Zhang Cheng had changed into ordinary clothes he found in the house and stood in the shadows, like a lone wolf preparing to hunt in the night.
