"Er Gouzi!"
A familiar shout came from afar.
Zhang Cheng looked up and saw his tall and thin Ninth Brother carrying a swaddled baby, striding towards him.
He's a fool!
Zhang An and Er Ya's daughter.
Aunt Hua and Shi Yangyang immediately stood up and jogged over to greet her.
"Little Jiu, are you out of your mind?" Aunt Hua snatched the baby from her hand, glaring at the grinning Jiu Ge. "It's so windy, why did you bring the little rascal out? What if he gets cold!"
Ninth Brother scratched the back of his head sheepishly: "I was thinking that Er Gouzi hasn't seen Gua Wa in a long time, so I brought him here to show him."
"Aunt Hua, bring it over here so I can see it!" Zhang Cheng called out from behind.
"They're here! They're here!"
Aunt Hua came over quickly, carrying the child, her face beaming: "Er Gouzi, look at your niece, how beautiful she is! Those eyes are so big and bright, and those cherry lips, she'll definitely be a great beauty when she grows up!"
Zhang Cheng reached out and carefully took the baby into his arms.
He looked at the tiny life in his arms, his eyes filled with complex emotions, which eventually softened into a gentle smile. He reached out and gently touched the baby's lips with his finger.
The little boy, thinking he was going to get milk, stared wide-eyed, his mouth opening and closing.
After trying several times without success, she pouted and burst into tears with a loud "Wah!"—a sound reminiscent of her grandmother's cursing.
"You're almost a father, why are you still acting like a child!" Aunt Hua rolled her eyes as she looked at the little boy who was being teased to tears.
Am I going to be a dad?
Zhang Cheng was startled and looked at Shi Yangyang with surprise.
Meeting his burning gaze, Shi Yangyang's cheeks instantly turned red, and she quickly waved her hands: "No, I haven't!"
"Not now, but once Er Gouzi recovers, you can try harder and you'll have it!" Aunt Hua said, pulling Shi Yangyang's arm and beaming from ear to ear.
Zhang Cheng's lips twitched; it turned out he'd been excited for nothing.
He looked down at the little girl who had fallen asleep while crying, and couldn't help but reach out and pinch her chubby cheeks again.
The old lady standing to the side was completely speechless.
After teasing him for a while, Zhang Cheng said to Shi Yangyang, "Wife, go to the store and get some white rice and flour for Ninth Brother, and also get a pack of cigarettes."
"No, no, no!" Ninth Brother was so frightened that he backed away repeatedly. "Er Gouzi, I really didn't come here to ask for anything, I just wanted you to see the child!"
Aunt Hua grabbed him and said, "Little Jiu, what are you panicking for! Er Gouzi gave it to you, so just take it! In the future, when he's busy and never home, remember how good he is to you, so treat Guawa well and don't let her suffer at all!"
"Aunt Hua, of course I'll treat her well!"
"That settles it then! Come on, let's go inside and get our things!"
Without saying a word, Aunt Hua pulled Ninth Brother into the consignment shop.
Zhang Cheng lowered his head, stretched out his finger again, and placed it on Guawa's lips.
Babies at this age are so cute.
Soon, Ninth Brother came out carrying two large bags of things, looking embarrassed: "Er Gouzi, well... I'll put the things home first, then I'll come and hug Guawa."
"Hmm." Zhang Cheng didn't even look up.
Shi Yangyang stood to the side, covering her mouth and chuckling: "Are you not going to stop until you wake her up?"
Zhang Cheng chuckled, then suddenly looked up and said, "Guawa, Guawa... that's such an awful name."
He looked at Shi Yangyang and said seriously, "Wife, why don't you give her a new name? If you keep calling her 'Guawa,' it'll be hard to change her name once she gets used to it."
Shi Yangyang blinked, thinking that what he said made a lot of sense.
It's really not a good name for a girl to be called "Guawa" (瓜娃).
She thought for a moment and said softly, "How about... Zhang Qingwan? Qing means clear and pure; Wan means gentle and beautiful."
"become!"
Zhang Cheng grinned, looking down at the sleeping baby, his voice filled with unprecedented tenderness.
"From now on, your name will be Zhang Qingwan."
“You better remember this name; it was given to you by your aunt. Otherwise, you’ll be called ‘Silly Boy’ for the rest of your life.”
