Gu Xue's heart sank to the bottom, filled with grievance and disappointment.
She never expected that Su Xiangnan would be so heartless and care about her so little.
"Su Xiangnan, are you determined to get rid of me? Have you thought all this time we've spent together was just an act?"
Su Xiangnan remained silent for a moment, then slowly walked around her, reached out and opened Meng Shuyun's door, and said coldly, "Yes, just as you thought."
Gu Xue's eyes widened, and tears streamed uncontrollably down her cheeks.
She was both sad and angry. She raised her hand and slapped Su Xiangnan across the face. "Su Xiangnan, I really misjudged you!"
"Since you dislike me so much, why should I bother to fawn over you?"
I'm packing my things and leaving tomorrow. My fiancé is waiting for me at home; I'll get engaged and married as soon as I get back!
After Gu Xue finished speaking, she turned around and went back to her room, slamming the door shut behind her. She then lay on the bed and burst into tears.
Meng Shuyun watched the farce unfolding at the doorway, feeling utterly helpless.
Su Xiangnan is the toughest guy out there.
Su Xiangnan closed the door and came to Meng Shuyun's side, staring blankly at the stack of money on the bed.
"You just accept what she gives you? You're always so greedy for money." He started by criticizing her.
Upon hearing this, Meng Shuyun was displeased and retorted without hesitation: "It's not your money, Xue'er can give it to whomever she wants."
Whether I accept it or not is none of your business.
Did you come to my room just to criticize me?
Su Xiangnan's face flushed, unsure whether it was from Gu Xue's slap or from Meng Shuyun's words.
"Is there anything else you want to say?" Meng Shuyun asked.
Su Xiangnan gritted his teeth and said, "Where is my household registration? Give me my page, I'll keep it myself."
Meng Shuyun shifted her body slightly and replied, "Your household registration is in your father's hands. When we divorced, he only took the registrations of you three brothers, not mine."
Having gotten the answer he wanted, Su Xiangnan turned to leave, giving Meng Shuyun a deep look before he went.
"Give Gu Xue her money back; it's not something you can use."
"Oh, why aren't you calling me Xue'er anymore?"
Now that you realize you're not good enough for her, are you going to give up on yourself?
"What a useless piece of trash, that's all he's good for."
Meng Shuyun coldly provoked him, "I heard it all just now. Xue'er has a fiancé waiting for her at home. They're getting engaged and married when she gets back."
You've guarded her for two lifetimes, and you're just going to let her go like that?
Are you willing to accept this?
Su Xiangnan's back stiffened instantly, his steps faltered, and he said through gritted teeth, "My affairs are none of your business."
Mind your own business. You'd be better off focusing your energy on the boy you've brought back.
"We knew absolutely nothing about his background, yet we entrusted him with such a request."
As if a sore spot had been hit, Su Xiangnan quickly left Meng Shuyun's room.
He looked at his room, which was tightly closed, and could faintly hear sobbing coming from inside.
With a heavy heart, I decided to go to the yard to calm down.
A short while later, Su Xiuju and Meng Kangshun returned first.
When Meng Shuyun came out, she was shocked to see that Meng Kangshun was covered in blood.
"What happened to you?" she asked anxiously.
"It's nothing serious. I just ran into a few drunk thugs and got into a fight. It's all just minor injuries," Meng Kangshun explained nonchalantly.
"Yes, we've already gone to the hospital for treatment." Su Xiuju's expression was somewhat unnatural.
On the way back, the two had already conspired to say that they had encountered a hooligan.
They didn't plan to tell anyone about what happened at the restaurant, fearing that their families would worry if they knew they had offended the sons of those wealthy people.
"What kind of thug could beat someone up like this!"
Meng Shuyun's face darkened as she secretly wondered what kind of deity her family had offended recently, as they were constantly plagued by bloodshed.
Could it be that I revealed too many secrets of heaven and changed too many things, and God couldn't stand it anymore, so He decided to punish my family?
Thinking about it, Meng Shuyun felt an impulse welling up inside her, and she wished she could go and offer incense and prayers right now.
Su Xiumei and Su Xiulan returned shortly afterward and hurriedly went to boil water.
Seeing Meng Kangshun's injuries, the two were both shocked and heartbroken.
Su Xiuju was also not in a good state; her face was deathly pale. After taking a shower, she went back to her room to sleep.
Meng Shuyun pulled Meng Kangshun aside to speak, but Meng Kangshun insisted that it was just a minor squabble.
After trying to get any useful information out of her until 2 a.m., Meng Shuyun sighed helplessly and went back to her room to sleep.
After tidying up, Su Xiumei saw Su Xiangnan still in the yard and asked curiously, "Xiangnan, why aren't you going back to sleep yet? It's getting late!"
Su Xiangnan casually replied, "I'm not sleepy yet, I'll go back in a bit."
Su Xiumei didn't believe him and said, "You didn't have a fight with Xue'er, did you? How can a grown man like you hold a grudge against a young girl? Hurry up and go back to coax her, or you won't be able to get into your room tomorrow."
After offering a few words of advice, Su Xiumei went back.
She knew her younger brother was very opinionated, and whether he would listen to her or not was up to him.
Su Xiangnan's sore spot was touched again, and he felt a surge of frustration, as if he wanted to vomit blood.
Su Xiulan then came out as well, and as she passed by Su Xiangnan, she exclaimed in surprise, "Aren't you going back yet!"
What did you do to make Xue'er angry?
