Chapter 15 Calling someone "mother" without their consent

Su Xiuju held the enamel mug in her hands, feeling its warmth and slightly sweetness. Her half-dry hair hung down beside her face, and tears fell into the enamel mug.

“Mother…” Su Xiuju choked out, her voice barely audible, “I haven’t lost my virginity…”

After a long silence, a sob of hatred broke out: "That beast, he touched me."

Meng Shuyun cupped her youngest daughter's face in her hands and said with heartache, "Mother believes you." Then she added fiercely, "I will chop off that beast's hand."

Upon hearing this, Su Xiuju burst into tears, throwing herself into Meng Shuyun's arms, heartbroken.

Meng Shuyun carefully applied the medicine, and seeing the wounds, her desire to chop people up grew stronger.

Just then, there was another knock on the door.

"Auntie, I bought a boxed lunch, have some."

Meng Shuyun had no appetite at all; she wouldn't eat, but Xiuju had to.

The police officer opened the door and came upstairs. She was quite surprised to see them standing together.

"Auntie, do you know each other?" She looked at Li Dashun suspiciously.

The first thing Liu Tiezhu did upon waking up was to confess everything: Li Dashun was the mastermind, and he was the one who brought all the items.

"Hello comrade, this is my godson, Da Shun."

"They're bringing us food. Has the interrogation yielded results?"

Meng Shuyun's first reaction was that something bad had happened; the police had come knocking on her door.

The female police officer took notes in her notebook with a pen. "It's like this, Liu Tiezhu has woken up and identified the mastermind, who is... He needs to come to the police station with us."

Meng Shuyun nodded, took out the train ticket and letter of introduction from the room, and also mentioned the police report from the train.

"It's easy to find with a simple search, and we will actively cooperate with our colleagues in this work. Please let us know if you need any assistance."

The woman saw that Meng Shuyun was so sincere and could tell she was a good person who wouldn't lie.

Without much suspicion, they led Li Dashun back to the police station to give a statement.

After checking the police report, it was confirmed that Meng Shuyun was right. They also found two human traffickers who had been brought to their police station for detention.

The female police officer completely believed Meng Shuyun's story. When interrogating Liu Tiezhu, no matter how he framed Li Dashun, it was all a cover-up to frame Aunt Meng's family.

The next day, Meng Shuyun packed her bags and went to the police station. The interrogation had concluded, and they were told to come and collect their compensation.

The female police officer was very welcoming to Meng Shuyun and poured her two glasses of water.

Ma Hongying handed over a silk banner and a large red envelope with a smile.

"Aunt Meng, you helped us capture the biggest drug dealer in the city. This is a banner awarded to you by the police station and a reward of five hundred yuan. There is also two hundred yuan that Liu Tiezhu gave to Su Xiuju as a subsidy. Please keep it."

Liu Tiezhu's case has been settled. He was involved in everything: trafficking contraband, human trafficking, and gambling. The verdict has been handed down.

Meng Shuyun leaned in and heard clearly: "Life imprisonment, he can forget about ever coming out to cause trouble again, serves him right!"

Meng Shuyun nodded repeatedly, tears of joy streaming down her face, and stuffed the cloth bag in her hand over: "Good comrades, thank you so much, this is a small token of my appreciation."

"A scumbag like Liu Tiezhu shouldn't be allowed to live too comfortably. He's a cancer on humanity; keeping him alive is an act of mercy."

"This old lady salutes you to thank you for saving countless families from disaster." She then gave a proper salute.

“Aunt Meng, you can just call me Yingzi. We absolutely cannot accept these things; this is what we should do. Even if you hadn’t said anything, I wouldn’t have let such a scumbag get away with it.”

Meng Shuyun patted her hand and said with a smile, "This is from your aunt to her own niece. You can keep it without worry. If you don't say anything and I don't say anything, who can say anything?"

Ma Hongying glanced at the cloth bag out of the corner of her eye. It was bulging, and even if it contained nothing of value, there was still quite a lot of it.

It's nothing to say about a relative giving you something so insignificant; she smiled and accepted it.

After the two had finished speaking, Li Dashun came out of the interrogation room, and Meng Shuyun led the group away from the police station.

Meng Shuyun hailed a van and headed to the city hospital. After getting out of the van, she led Li Dashun to get a blocking injection.

The propaganda about drug addicts is well-known in later generations. It's not that she was being overly kind; this needle wasn't cheap, and she didn't have the spare money.

I came to the hospital to get some better topical medicine for Xiuju, and bringing him along was just a side trip.

The three stood at the side entrance of the hospital, with Meng Shuyun looking at Li Dashun, who remained silent.

"Are you coming back with us, or are you going somewhere else?"

If he hadn't had a motorcycle, things might have turned out very differently for her and Xiuju.

His kindness will be settled after this injection...

Li Dashun knelt in front of Meng Shuyun, and his sudden action startled her.

Holding Su Xiuju's hand, his eyes wide open, he took a big step to the side.

What are you doing?

Li Dashun kowtowed three times, looked up and said, "You saved my life, from now on you will be my mother."

"Did I agree? Why are you kowtowing now?"

"Didn't I already say? I don't like my son."

You're practically Su Xiuju's savior, so we're even now.

Meng Shuyun looked at Li Dashun warily. In this life, no man should have anything to do with her.

She didn't want to raise another ungrateful child.

Li Dashun didn't insist. He patted the dirt off his clothes and reached for his luggage.

"Mom, wherever you go, I will go. I will take care of you from now on, and I will carry your luggage."

Meng Shuyun frowned. Everyone said she disagreed, so why was she still shouting?

No matter how much she pleaded, Li Dashun remained unmoved, gritting his teeth and threatening, "Being my son isn't so easy."

The first condition is that he must take my surname.

Article Two…

Meng Shuyun looked at the silent Li Dashun and thought, "See? One sentence was enough to make him back down."

“Whatever Mother says goes, I will listen to Mother.” Li Dashun said respectfully.

Meng Shuyun was speechless, not expecting this young man to agree without even thinking.

She never expected that when she came to pick up her daughter, she would also bring back a godson.

The three bought tickets to return to Nanshi that day. They got off the train early the next morning. Li Dashun carried the luggage, while the mother and daughter walked ahead.

Hearing the announcement at the station, Meng Shuyun remembered her work and patted Su Xiuju's hand.

"Xiuju, your mother has found you a job as a broadcaster in the county. All you need is a junior high school education. Do you want to take it?"

With Meng Shuyun comforting and guiding her these past few days, Su Xiuju is no longer as afraid as she was at the beginning. However, when she sees a strange man approaching, she instinctively shrinks back in fear and lowers her head.

Upon hearing about work, Su Xiuju froze. A man carrying a sack walked past her and almost bumped into her, but Li Dashun stepped in to protect her.

Su Xiuju's face paled, and she lowered her head somewhat embarrassedly, twisting her fingers together.

"Mother...I...I don't know..."
