Chapter 153 Knowing Three and Acting Three

Su Xiulan was both ashamed and angry, her eyes reddening, and she said loudly, "I didn't. I just came to the store to find the owner. There's nothing like what you're saying."

Meng Shuyun wasn't going to tolerate these onlookers, especially the two who were shouting the loudest. She strode forward, pulled the two of them in front of Liu Xiaomeng and Ye Jianguo, and pointed at their noses, ordering them:

“Tell them when you and my daughter divorced, and how you saw her flirting with you, causing misunderstandings. If you don’t make things clear today, no one is leaving. You’re trying to pin this on my daughter. My daughter is innocent; why should you slander her without cause?”

Meng Shuyun's gaze was firm, and her voice was loud, as if she wanted to crush this unfounded accusation completely.

The two people who were dragged out turned red and white in turns, struggling frantically as they tried to escape this place of trouble.

They only wanted to join in the fun and have some fun, but they never expected Meng Shuyun to take it so seriously and escalate the issue to such an extent.

Ye Jianguo's face was ashen, his lips trembling slightly. In the end, he had no choice but to grit his teeth and admit, "This woman and I did indeed divorce a long time ago."

His voice was filled with resentment, and a hint of regret flashed in his eyes.

After Su Xiulan resolutely left, his life seemed to fall into a quagmire. He suffered frequent setbacks in his career and his family life was in complete chaos.

All Liu Xiaomeng did all day long was cry and make a scene in front of him, demanding money. Compared to Su Xiulan's gentleness, thoughtfulness, and filial piety towards her in-laws, she was worlds apart. Only now did he realize that Liu Xiaomeng was not even as good as a single hair on Su Xiulan's head.

Seeing this, Meng Shuyun's eyebrows shot up, and she pointed at Ye Jianguo's nose, ordering sharply, "Make your woman explain herself. Who is having an affair? When you two were still married, she was almost due. Doesn't that count as having an affair?"

Liu Xiaomeng's face turned deathly pale instantly. She lowered her head, wishing she could disappear into the ground. The gazes of everyone around her felt like needles piercing her.

But when she thought about how she had given birth to a son for Ye Jianguo, while Su Xiulan had been married into the Ye family for many years without having any children, she straightened her back and retorted in a sharp voice, "Old woman, isn't it because your daughter is a barren hen? She's been married to Ye Jianguo for so many years and doesn't even have a son or daughter. What family would want a woman who can't have children?"

The two women who were pulled in front of her were initially a little embarrassed, but upon hearing Liu Xiaomeng's words, they instantly perked up, and their righteous indignation looked somewhat comical.

One of the women bluntly accused Meng Shuyun: "Sister, not that we're saying anything, but if my daughter-in-law couldn't have children after entering the family, I wouldn't want her either. This really isn't this comrade's fault; it's your daughter who can't have children."

Another chimed in, "Exactly! Who would want to keep a hen that doesn't lay eggs?"

Xie Lin'an, who had been silently tidying up his broken glasses, suddenly spoke up upon hearing this: "If I remember correctly, when we were in the shop, you said she had two children. Doesn't that contradict what you're saying now?"

The two middle-aged women were talking animatedly when they heard this. They immediately shut their mouths, their eyes wide with astonishment as they stared at Liu Xiaomeng.

"What's wrong with you? We were just trying to help you, and you're trying to sabotage us!"

"Did you do this on purpose? I thought you were kind-hearted because you were holding a baby, but I never expected you to be two-faced like this behind my back. You're so vicious!"

In an instant, a torrent of accusations came crashing down on Liu Xiaomeng, and she became the target of everyone's criticism.

Ye Jianguo's face turned bright red, like a ripe tomato. He could no longer bear it and roared uncontrollably, "You shameful wretch, get back in the car!"

Liu Xiaomeng bit her lip, tears falling like beads from a broken string. This time, she was truly extremely wronged.

She flung open the car door and shoved herself inside, the door slamming shut with a deafening crash. Once inside, she glared at Su Xiulan with a venomous look, her eyes seeming to want to devour her alive.

Ye Jianguo was also embarrassed. He looked at Su Xiulan deeply, his eyes filled with a complex mix of regret and jealousy.

Meng Shuyun blocked Ye Jianguo's view, and Ye Jianguo gritted his teeth and slunk away with Liu Xiaomeng.

Su Xiulan didn't even glance at him. Instead, she turned to Xie Lin'an with concern and asked, "Teacher Xie, are you alright? It's all my fault for dragging you into this. Seeing how badly you're injured, I'll take you to the hospital to get your wound treated."

Su Xiulan's eyes were filled with worry and guilt. If it weren't for her, Teacher Xie wouldn't have suffered this calamity for no reason.

Xie Lin'an gently touched the wound, frowning slightly. Although it hurt a little, it was just a superficial injury.

He glanced at his glasses, which were shattered beyond repair, a hint of regret flashing in his eyes: "They're just superficial injuries, nothing serious. Anyone would have helped in this situation today."

Meng Shuyun gently nudged Su Xiulan's arm and reminded her, "Teacher Xie's glasses were broken because of us. Xiulan, why don't you accompany Teacher Xie to the hospital to treat her wound first, and then go buy her a new pair of glasses?"

Su Xiulan nodded repeatedly, as this was exactly what she was thinking.

She secretly regretted that she wouldn't have a chance to meet the bookstore owner again today. If she really couldn't find a suitable shop, opening one on the next street wouldn't be a bad idea.

With things finally settled down, Meng Shuyun thought about going home to cook, as she also needed to deliver lunch to Deng Jiaqi at noon.

The girls on TV all pay attention to health, so she watched a lot of recipes about nutritional balance and decided to make them for Deng Jiaqi.
