Chapter 41 Accompanying During Childbirth

As if emboldened, Meng Shuyun became even more determined, pulling Zhao Weiying toward the emergency room while urging, "Director, what are you dawdling for? Didn't you just say it would be dangerous if we went in late? Let's go!"

Seeing this, Old Lady Zhao became furious. She rushed over and grabbed Meng Shuyun tightly, shouting, "You old hag, stop right there! You're not allowed to go in!"

After saying that, he turned to Zhao Weiying and shouted, "Weiying, hurry up and go in! My grandson is still inside! You need to help deliver the baby first, or he'll get sick in there!"

Seeing that someone was holding Meng Shuyun back, Zhao Weiying took the opportunity to break free and quickly walked into the operating room.

Meng Shuyun was trembling with anger. She turned around and started fighting with Old Lady Zhao. While fighting, she shouted to Su Xiuju, "Xiuju, quickly go and call another doctor to deliver the baby! This deputy director has a close relationship with Old Lady Zhao's family. Who knows what she will do to your sister!"

Zhao Weiying, who hadn't gone far, paused when she heard Meng Shuyun call her "deputy director," and gritted her teeth as she snorted coldly.

She'll get the director position sooner or later.

The commotion was quite loud, and even the vice president upstairs was alerted and came down to check on the situation.

Su Xiuju arrived by mistake with the vice president and hurriedly explained the situation:

"My mother was worried about my sister's baby and wanted to go in to be with her during childbirth. We both agreed, but the associate chief physician wouldn't let us."

Later, another pregnant woman went into the operating room, and an old lady insisted that the associate chief physician deliver her grandson first.

I'm so worried about my eldest sister. Vice Dean, you absolutely must save my second sister! She's pregnant, and I don't know how she is now!

Su Xiuju explained the situation clearly, and before the group even reached the operating room door, they heard Old Lady Zhao's vile and offensive curses:

"You old hag, your whole family is a jinx, you're here to bring bad luck to our Zhao family."

"Your daughter's belly is full of money-losing babies; it's pointless to give birth to them. It would be much easier to just let them die inside!"

Meng Shuyun tightened her grip and said fiercely, "I'll beat you to death, you old bastard who spews filth! You dote on your son so much, I wish your Zhao family a house full of children and grandchildren, but not a single one of them will bear the surname Zhao!"

The two were locked in a fierce struggle, neither gaining the upper hand. Meng Shuyun didn't suffer any losses either, her hands seemingly having eyes, specifically targeting the other's vulnerable spots.

Although Old Lady Zhao did not appear to have suffered much injury on her face, her body was covered in bruises.

Upon seeing this, the vice president immediately ordered security to separate the two.

Su Xiuju stepped forward to support her mother, and while the security guards were away, she pinched Zhao's thigh a few times.

The vice president asked, "Please stop arguing. I understand the situation. Which pregnant woman wants to be with you during childbirth?"

Meng Shuyun stepped forward and said, "It's me. My daughter has been inside for quite a while."

The vice president nodded, called over a nurse, and led Meng Shuyun to put on sterile clothing and complete the formalities. He also called a senior gynecologist to deliver the baby.

Inside the operating room, Su Xiulan lay on the bed, looking at Zhao Weiying, who was holding a syringe. Zhao Weiying was wearing a mask, but her eyes were visible, and she looked malicious.

Startled, Su Xiulan took a step back, her heavy body shuffling as she asked in a trembling voice, "What do you want? What are you holding? I don't want a shot!"

Zhao Weiying said, "Your baby is breech, you need a C-section." She then pressed the air button in the syringe, and the medication sprayed out. "You don't want the baby in your belly? Think it over."

Su Xiulan trembled with fear, her pupils constricted, and she saw Zhao Weiying's reflection in her eyes. She shook her head and refused, "I don't want to. I want to change doctors. I don't want you to deliver my baby. I want someone else."

Zhao Weiying looked at her coldly and sneered, "Medical resources are strained right now. It's not like you can just change it whenever you want. Are you going to get it or not? If not, I'll go deliver someone else's baby. Do you want to give birth all by yourself?"

She had seen too many disobedient people and thought that scaring them would make them behave.

Su Xiulan's face turned pale. Thinking that she didn't know if she could save the baby if she was given anesthesia, she gritted her teeth and insisted: "I won't have anesthesia. I want a natural birth. Someone, doctor, nurse, I need to change doctors."

At this moment, Meng Shuyun had already changed into sterile clothing and was extremely anxious, urging the nurse to hurry up.

When she arrived at the delivery room, she saw Zhao Weiying holding a syringe, about to force an injection into her daughter. She quickly called out, "Xiulan!"

"Let go of my daughter!"

Meng Shuyun pushed Zhao Weiying away, took Su Xiulan's hand, and felt heartbroken to see her pale face and tears streaming down her face.

If we had arrived any later, I really don't know what would have happened!

So she questioned the nurse: "Do the doctors at your hospital disregard the pregnant woman's feelings and force her to take anesthesia?"

The nurse reassured her, "Ma'am, our head gynecologist will be here soon. She has thirty years of experience in childbirth, so please don't worry."

Su Xiulan held Meng Shuyun's hand tightly. The contractions and tension made her sweat profusely and unable to exert any strength.

When she saw her mother arrive, her tense nerves relaxed, and tears streamed down her face.

She knew that when her mother came, she would protect the child in her womb.

She hadn't always cared about her mother before, but ever since her divorce from her scumbag father, she could feel her mother's concern for her.

She felt inexplicably at ease when her mother was by her side.

The chief gynecologist was ready, wearing a mask, revealing a pair of gentle and mature eyes.

Zhao Weiying, the deputy director, was unwilling to give up and went to the delivery room next door.

She examined Su Xiulan's body, felt the baby's position, and said confidently, "It's head-down, you can have a natural birth without anesthesia. You can give birth when you're dilated to two centimeters."

Meng Shuyun wiped away Su Xiulan's tears, and wiped her own as well. Her heart ached as she watched her daughter scream in pain from the contractions.

She thought that if possible, she would never have any more daughters. Childbirth is like walking through the gates of hell for a woman; it depletes her body and causes her suffering.

Meng Shuyun peeled open a piece of candy and fed it to Su Xiulan's mouth: "Xiulan, have a piece of candy to save your energy. You'll need to exert yourself later. It'll be over soon..."

Su Xiulan sucked on a milk candy, the rich aroma spreading out. When the contractions came, she licked it, and the pain seemed to lessen.

"Push, the head is out, push a little harder." With each tender cry of the child, the first baby was born.

The nurse congratulated them, saying, "Congratulations, it's a daughter!"

When Su Xiulan heard that it was a daughter after giving birth, her eyes were filled with disappointment; she had always wanted a son.

She turned to look at her mother's reaction, thinking that since she was a daughter, her mother would definitely dislike her.

But her mother only had eyes for her, her slightly reddened eyes filled with heartache and worry.

Su Xiulan cried, "Mother, it's a daughter..."

Meng Shuyun said, "My daughter is wonderful. She's just as capable, intelligent, and beautiful as you. Don't cry. There's another baby in your belly. Hurry up and push. It's not safe to stay inside for too long."

As soon as Meng Shuyun finished speaking, the head of the midwifery changed her expression, ordered him to push harder, and even checked with the nurse.

She had noticed from the pregnant woman's belly that it didn't look like a single pregnancy, so out of caution she checked it and found that she was indeed pregnant again.

To make such a simple mistake, Zhao Weiying, the deputy director, is utterly indifferent to human life...
